Today, social media has become a vital tool. The world communicates and reaches the news and each other's opinions through social media accounts. Recently, considerable research has been done on analyzing social media due to its rich data content. At the same time, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has afflicted so many around the world, the search for a vaccine has been intense. There have been many studies analyzing people's feelings during a crisis. This study aims to understand people's opinions about available Coronavirus vaccines through a learning model that was developed for this purpose. The dataset was collected using Twitter's streaming Application Programming Interface (API) , then combined with another dataset that had already been collected. The final dataset was cleaned, then analyzed using Python. Polarity and subjectivity functions were used to obtain the results. The results showed that most people had positive opinions toward vaccines in general and toward the Pfizer one. Our study should help governments and decision-makers dispel people's fears and discover new symptoms linked to those listed by the World Health Organization.

      • User Interface Design & Evaluation of Mobile Applications

Samrgandi, Najwa International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.1

The design functionality put forward by mapping the interactiveness of information. The presentation of such information with the user interface model indicates that the guidelines, concepts, and workflows form the deliverables and milestones for achieving a visualized design, therefore forming the right trend is significant to ensure compliance in terms of changing consideration and applying evaluation in the early stages. It is evidenced that prototype design is guided by improvement specifications, includes modes, and variables that increase improvements. The study presents five user interface testing methods. The testing methods are heuristic evaluation, perspective-based user interface testing, cognitive walkthrough, pluralistic walkthrough, and formal usability inspection. It appears that the five testing methods can be combined and matched to produce reasonable results. At last, the study presents different mobile application designs for student projects besides the evaluation of mobile application designs to consider the user needs and usability.

Profiling Bartonella infection and its associated risk factors in shelter cats in Malaysia

Nurul Najwa Ainaa Alias 대한수의학회 2023 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.24 No.3

Background: Poor disease management and irregular vector control could predispose sheltered animals to disease such as feline Bartonella infection, a vector-borne zoonotic disease primarily caused by Bartonella henselae. Objectives: This study investigated the status of Bartonella infection in cats from eight (n = 8) shelters by molecular and serological approaches, profiling the CD4:CD8 ratio and the risk factors associated with Bartonella infection in shelter cats. Methods: Bartonella deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was detected through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting 16S-23S rRNA internal transcribed spacer gene, followed by DNA sequencing. Bartonella IgM and IgG antibody titre, CD4 and CD8 profiles were detected using indirect immunofluorescence assay and flow cytometric analysis, respectively. Results: B. henselae was detected through PCR and sequencing in 1.0% (1/101) oral swab and 2.0% (1/50) cat fleas, while another 3/50 cat fleas carried B. clarridgeiae. Only 18/101 cats were seronegative against B. henselae, whereas 30.7% (31/101) cats were positive for both IgM and IgG, 8% (18/101) cats had IgM, and 33.7% (34/101) cats had IgG antibody only. None of the eight shelters sampled had Bartonella antibody-free cats. Although abnormal CD4:CD8 ratio was observed in 48/83 seropositive cats, flea infestation was the only significant risk factor observed in this study. Conclusions: The present study provides the first comparison on the Bartonella spp. antigen, antibody status and CD4:CD8 ratio among shelter cats. The high B. henselae seropositivity among shelter cats presumably due to significant flea infestation triggers an alarm of whether the infection could go undetectable and its potential transmission to humans.

      • APPLIED NANOSCIENCE: USING NANO ZINC OXIDE TO ENHANCE ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION OF COMMERCIAL TALCUM POWDER

Nuur Fhatin Najwa Abdullah,Muhamad Salman Ahmed Kamil,Shahrom Mahmud 국제과학영재학회 2011 APEC Youth Scientist Journal Vol.3 No.-

This experiment investigated the effects of adding nano zinc oxide (ZnO) in talcum powder. We observed an increase in ultraviolet (UV) light absorption (or decrease in UV transmission) with the addition of nano ZnO in talcum powder. Commercial talcum powder (with 25% ZnO content) allowed a transmission of 0.3% UV light. However, our homemade talcum powder, with an addition of only 5% nano ZnO, performed much better with a transmission of less than 0.1% UV light even though the ZnO content is 5 times less than that of commercial talcum powder. Electron microscopy micrographs showed that nano ZnO possessed nanorods and nanoplates. This work offers a new promising application of nano ZnO in improving the UV absorption of commercial talcum powder thereby offering superior UV protection that can reduce UV-related skin problems including sunburn and skin cancer.

Written Asthma Action Plan Improves Asthma Control and the Quality of Life among Pediatric Asthma Patients in Malaysia: A Randomized Control Trial

Juliawati Muhammad,Najwa Diyana Ngah,Imran Ahmad 대한가정의학회 2023 Korean Journal of Family Medicine Vol.44 No.1

Background: A written asthma action plan (WAAP) is one of the treatment strategies to achieve good asthma con-trol in children. Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted to observe the effect of WAAP on asthma control and quality of life using the Asthma Control Questionnaire and Pediatric Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (PAQLQ) at baseline and after 3 months. A repeated measure analysis of variance was used to analyze the mean score differ-ence between the two groups. Results: There was no significant difference in mean score for asthma control at baseline between groups (F[degree of freedom (df)]=1.17 [1, 119], P=0.282). However, at 3 months, a significant difference in mean scores between groups was observed (F[df]=7.32 [1, 119], P=0.008). The mean±standard deviation (SD) scores in the intervention and control groups were 0.96±0.53 and 1.21±0.49, respectively. For the analysis of the PAQLQ, no significant differ-ence was observed in the mean score for the quality of life baseline in both groups. There were significant mean score changes for the quality of life (F[df]=10.9 [1, 119], P=0.001) at 3 months follow-up, where those in the inter-vention group scored a mean±SD score of 6.19±0.45, and those in the control group scored 5.94±0.38. A time-group interaction analysis using repeated-measures analysis of variance showed significant differences in mean score changes (F[df]=5.03 [1, 116], P=0.027) and (F[df]=11.55 [1, 116], P=0.001) where a lower mean score was observed in the intervention group, indicating better asthma control and quality of life, respectively. A significant (P<0.001) negative Pearson correlation between asthma control and quality of life (-0.65) indicated a moderate correlation. Conclusion: WAAP, along with standard asthma treatment, improves asthma care.

Preparation, modification and industrial application of activated carbon from almond shell

Abdessalem Omri,Mourad Benzina,Najwa Ammar 한국공업화학회 2013 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.19 No.6

Almond shell was used to prepare activated carbon using physical activation method, consisted of carbon dioxide (CO2) gasification. The effects of the preparation variables which were activation temperature, activation time and carbon dioxide flow rate on the adsorption capacity of iodine and methylene blue solution were investigated. The optimal activated carbon was obtained by these conditions as follows: 800 8C activation temperature, 100 cm3/min carbon dioxide flow rate and 120 min activation time. The characterization of carbon materials is performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), 13C (CP/MAS and MAS)solid-state NMR, nitrogen adsorption (BET) and Boehm’s titration method. For an industrial application, the optimal activated carbon was ammoxidated to improve its adsorption capacity toward total organic carbon from Tunisian industrial phosphoric acid. The influence of experimental parameters such as specific consumption, initial concentration, contact time, agitation speed and temperature on TOC removal was studied.

Mitochondrial 10398A>G NADH-Dehydrogenase Subunit 3 of Complex I Is Frequently Altered in Intra-Axial Brain Tumors in Malaysia

2018 Brain Tumor Research and Treatment Vol.6 No.1

Background Mitochondria are major cellular sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation which can induce mitochondrial DNA damage and lead to carcinogenesis. The mitochondrial 10398A>G alteration in NADH-dehydrogenase subunit 3 (ND3) can severely impair complex I, a key component of ROS production in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. Alteration in ND3 10398A>G has been reported to be linked with diverse neurodegenerative disorders and cancers. The aim of this study was to find out the association of mitochondrial ND3 10398A>G alteration in brain tumor of Malaysian patients. Methods Brain tumor tissues and corresponding blood specimens were obtained from 45 patients. The ND3 10398A>G alteration at target codon 114 was detected using the PCR-RFLP analysis and later was confirmed by DNA sequencing. Results Twenty-six (57.8%) patients showed ND3 10398A>G mutation in their tumor specimens, in which 26.9% of these mutations were heterozygous mutations. ND3 10398A>G mutation was not significantly correlated with age, gender, and histological tumor grade, however was found more frequently in intra-axial than in extra-axial tumors (62.5% vs. 46.2%, p< 0.01). Conclusion For the first time, we have been able to describe the occurrence of ND3 10398A >G mutations in a Malaysian brain tumor population. It can be concluded that mitochondrial ND3 10398A>G alteration is frequently present in brain tumors among Malaysian population and it shows an impact on the intra-axial tumors.

      • Association of The IDH1 C.395G>A (R132H) Mutation with Histological Type in Malay Brain Tumors

Yusoff, Abdul Aziz Mohamed,Zulfakhar, Fatin Najwa,Sul'ain, Mohd Dasuki,Idris, Zamzuri,Abdullah, Jafri Malin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.12

Background: Brain tumors, constituting one of the most deadly forms of cancer worldwide, result from the accumulation of multiple genetic and epigenetic alterations in genes and signaling pathways. Isocitrate dehydrogenase enzyme isoform 1 (IDH1) mutations are frequently identified in primary brain tumors and acute myeloid leukemia. Studies on IDH1 gene mutations have been extensively performed in various populations worldwide but not in Malaysia. This work was conducted to study the prevalence of IDH1 c.395G>A (R132H) hotspot mutations in a group of Malaysian patients with brain tumors in order to gain local data for the IDH1 mutation profile in our population. Methods: Mutation analysis of c.395G>A (R132H) of IDH1 was performed in 40 brain tumor specimens by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method (PCR-RFLP) and then verified by direct sequencing. Associations between the IDH1 c.395G>A (R132H) mutation and clinicopathologic characteristics were also analyzed. Results: The IDH1 c.395G>A (R132H) mutation was detected in 14/40 patients (35%). A significant association was found with histological tumor types, but not with age, gender and race. Conclusions: IDH1 is frequently mutated and associated with histological subtypes in Malay brain tumors.
