Seasonal variations of the gonad index (GI), the biochemical composition, and the concentration of heavy metals in the gonads of the sea urchin, Paracentrotus lividus (Echinodermata: Echinoidea), were determined. Samples were collected from three sites in the Agadir region: Cap Ghir, Sidi R'bat and Anza (south coast of Morocco) between March 2018 and February 2020. This study highlights the point that at the three study sites, the gametogenic cycle of the sea urchin was annual, with a long, single spawning (spring-summer) for both cycles. Protein constituted the main component of the gonad which ranged between 23.73 and 8.11 mg/mL, while lipid and carbohydrate were also found in considerable amounts. The maximum levels of proteins in the gonad coincided with the highest GI values, there being evidence of gonad protein requirements during gametogenesis. Heavy metals (Cu, Pb, and Cd) were present with very low values and this reflects the health of the Coastal ecosystem of Cap Ghir and Sidi R'bat. For Anza, we noticed higher values than the other sites, due to the presence of industries and urban development.
Derivations with Power Values on Lie Ideals in Rings and Banach Algebras
Rehman, Nadeem ur,Muthana, Najat Mohammed,Raza, Mohd Arif Department of Mathematics 2016 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.56 No.2
Let R be a 2-torsion free prime ring with center Z, U be the Utumi quotient ring, Q be the Martindale quotient ring of R, d be a derivation of R and L be a Lie ideal of R. If $d(uv)^n=d(u)^md(v)^l$ or $d(uv)^n=d(v)^ld(u)^m$ for all $u,v{\in}L$, where m, n, l are xed positive integers, then $L{\subseteq}Z$. We also examine the case when R is a semiprime ring. Finally, as an application we apply our result to the continuous derivations on non-commutative Banach algebras. This result simultaneously generalizes a number of results in the literature.

Cryptosporidium, a protozoan parasite, can cause cryptosporidiosis which is a gastrointestinal disease that can infect humans and livestock. Cattle are the most common livestock that can be infected with this protozoan. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection in cattle in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia and to find out the association between the occurrence of infection and 3 different ages of cattle (calves less than 1 year, yearling, and adult cattle). The samples were processed by using formol-ether concentration technique and stained by modified Ziehl Neelsen. The results showed that 15.9% (24/151) of cattle were positive for Cryptosporidium oocysts. The occurrence of Cryptosporidium in calves less than 1 year was the highest with the percentage of 20.0% (11/55) followed by yearling and adult cattle, with the percentage occurrence of 15.6 % (7/45) and 11.8% (6/51), respectively. There was no significant association between the occurrence and age of cattle and presence of diarrhea. Good management practices and proper hygiene management must be taken in order to reduce the infection. It is highly important to control the infection since infected cattle may serve as potential reservoirs of the infection to other animals and humans, especially animal handlers.

This paper studies the free vibration behavior of bi-dimensional functionally graded (BFG) nanobeams subjected to arbitrary boundary conditions. According to Eringen's nonlocal theory and Hamilton's principle, the underlying equations of motion have been obtained for BFG nanobeams. Moreover, the variable substitution method is utilized to establish the structure's state-space differential equations, followed by forming the dynamic stiffness matrix based on state-space differential equations. In order to compute the natural frequencies, the current study utilizes the Wittrick-Williams algorithm as a solution technique. Moreover, the nonlinear vibration frequencies calculated by employing the proposed method are compared to the frequencies obtained in previous studies to evaluate the proposed method's performance. Some illustrative numerical examples are also given in order to study the impacts of the nonlocal parameters, material property gradient indices, nanobeam length, and boundary conditions on the BFG nanobeam's frequency. It is found that reducing the nonlocal parameter will usually result in increased vibration frequencies.
UPHILL ZAGREB INDICES OF SOME GRAPH OPERATIONS FOR CERTAIN GRAPHS
SALEH, ANWAR,BAZHEAR, SARA,MUTHANA, NAJAT The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2022 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.40 No.5-6
The topological indices are numerical parameters which determined the biological, physical and chemical properties based on the structure of the chemical compounds. One of the recently topological indices is the uphill Zagreb indices. In this paper, the formulae of some uphill Zagreb indices for a few graph operations of some graphs have been derived. Furthermore, the precise formulae of those indices for the honeycomb network have been found along with their graphical profiles.

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nano-particles were chemically deposited onto montmorillonite (MONT) clay particles. The composite ZnO@MONT was then characterized and used as a catalyst for photo-degradation of aqueous tetracycline. Unlike earlier studies, solar simulated light can be effectively used in this work. The composite shows high efficiency as adsorbent and as a photo-degradation catalyst. Both adsorbed and dissolved tetracycline molecules undergo mineralization under the photo-catalytic conditions, and up to 94% of the contaminant gross amount is completely mineralized. Other forms of ZnO particles, commercial ZnO and synthetic ZnO particles were examined in separate experiments. The ZnO@MONT is superior to both pristine counterparts. The ability of tetracycline to sensitize the supported ZnO particles, to solar simulated light, before being photo-degraded itself, is discussed here for the first time. In addition to enhanced catalytic activity of the ZnO@MONT, the composite can be efficiently recovered and reused with no significant loss of efficiency.

Highlights

ZnO particles supported onto montmorillonite are useful catalyst for tetracycline degradation by simulated solar light.

The ZnO@MONT is more effective catalyst than pristine ZnO, due to high adsorption by support.

Contaminant facilitates own light-driven degradation by sensitizing the wide bad gap ZnO catalyst.

ZnO@MONT catalyst can be recovered and reused with no significant loss in its efficiency.

Graphical abstract

Tetracycline may self-sensitize its own degradation with simulated solar light Using ZnO supported onto montmorillonite.

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Qualitative Analysis of Additives in Plastic Marine Debris and Its New Products.
Rani, Manviri,Shim, Won Joon,Han, Gi Myung,Jang, Mi,Al-Odaini, Najat Ahmed,Song, Young Kyong,Hong, Sang Hee Springer-Verlag 2015 Archives of environmental contamination and toxico Vol.69 No.3

Due to their formulation and/or processing, plastics contain additives and impurities that may leach out under conditions of use and accumulate in the environment. To evaluate their role as vectors of chemical contaminants in marine environment, plastic debris (n??=??19) collected from coastal beaches along with new plastics (n??=??25; same or same brand) bought from local markets were screened by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in full scan mode. Detected peaks were identified using NIST library in different polymers (polypropylene (PP)??>??polyethylene (PE)??>??PP??+??PE??>??polyethyl terephthalate??>??poly(acylene:styrene) with different use (food, fishery, and general use). A database on the presence of 231 different chemicals were grouped into hydrocarbons, ultra-violet (UV)-stabilizers, antioxidants, plasticizers, lubricants, intermediates, compounds for dyes and inks, flame retardants, etc. The UV326, UV327, UV328, UV320, UvinualMC80, irganox 1076, DEHP, antioxidant no 33, di-n-octylisophthalate, diisooctyl phthalate, hexanoic acid 2-ethyl-hexadecyl ester, and hydrocarbons were most frequently detected. Finding of toxic phthalates and UV stabilizers in those products having moisture contact (like bottles with short use) raised concern to humans and indicated their irregular use. The comparison between new and debris plastics clearly indicated the leaching and absorption of chemicals and supports our assumption of plastic as media for transferring these additives in marine environment.
