Injection molded specimens were prepared from the walnut shell flour and polypropylene with and without maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene at 40, 50, and 60% (weight) contents of the walnut shell. The bending and tensile modulus of the composites significantly increased with increasing the filler content while the bending and tensile strengths significantly decreased. Water absorption and thickness swelling of the composites increased with increasing filler content. The MAPP improved the interfacial adhesion between walnut shell flour and polymer matrix. A 40/57/3 formulation of the walnut shell flour/polypropylene/MAPP can be used in outdoor applications requiring a high dimensional stability.
The correlation of linguistic and geographic distance: A sampling of Altaic languages
( Nadir Engin Uzun ),( Kyoo-seok Yeon ) 한국외국어대학교 언어연구소 2021 언어와 언어학 Vol.- No.94
In this paper, a group of languages (Turkish, Mongolian, Evenki, Korean and Japanese in comparison with Arabic, English and Chinese) will be investigated in terms of how linguistically and geographically distant they are according to the related data of these well-defined language samples in WALS. Then, depending on Holman et al. (2007) and applying a counting method offered by Uzun (2012b) we will investigate how much their linguistic differences are in correlation with geographic distances. With reference to the acquired findings, the aim of this study is to discover whether the differentiation of these languages is closer to the related languages or to the unrelated ones, and to make a contribution to the Altaic debates.

Background: Older patients undergoing emergency laparotomy have high morbidity and mortality rates. Preoperative risk assessment with good predictors is an appropriate measure in this population. Frailty status is significantly associated with postoperative outcomes in older adults. This study aimed to investigate the effect of preoperative risk factors and frailty on short-term outcomes following emergency surgery for acute abdomen in older patients. Methods: This study included older patients (≥65 years of age) who underwent emergency abdominal surgery. We retrospectively analyzed their demographic and clinical variables and used the modified Frailty Index-11 to evaluate their frailty status. The primary outcome was the 30-day mortality rate. We also analyzed risk factors of mortality in these patients. Results: The study included 150 patients with a median age of 74 years. The mortality rate was 17.3% (n=26). We observed significantly higher mortality rates in patients who were obese and who had higher American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA grades) (p<0.05). Frailty status was worse in deceased group (p<0.001), when compared to individuals who survived. Septic shock was associated with the development of mortality (p<0.001). Multivariate regression analysis revealed that ASA grade was the only independent risk factor for mortality (odds ratio=19.642; 95% confidence interval, 3.886–99.274; p<0.001). Conclusion: Older patients with obesity and frailty presenting with higher ASA grades and septic shock had the worst survival following emergency abdominal surgery. The ASA grade was an independent risk factor for mortality.

Antibacterial products have paid much more attraction all over global world. In this study, a novel and economicalrout has been studied for antibacterial product, ultrafine nylon-6 (NY-6 NFS) nanofibers impregnated into garlic sour wassynthesized by electrospinning method. The morphology of impregnated nanofiber mats was characterized by electronmicroscopy (SEM). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to analyze the chemical interaction of Nylon-6nanofiber mats and garlic sour. The antibacterial activities of impregnated garlic sour samples G-1, G-2 and G-3 wereevaluated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by using disc diffusion method. It was found that thegarlic sour has played a vital role for antibacterial activity. The nanofiber mats impregnated into garlic sour showed excellentantibacterial activity. It was observed that the antimicrobial effect for Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus was morethan 99 %. The excellent hydrophobic property which revealed water contact angle was examined with dropping method andTGA were examined excellent thermal degradation rate of NY-6 NFS and impregnated garlic sour samples. NY-6 NFSshowed good mechanical strength according to ASTM D-638 standard. The obtained results indicate that the NY-6 NFSimpregnated in garlic sour is a promising antibacterial product that can be utilized as antibacterial wound dressing.

In traditional unstructured P2P file sharing network, each peer establishes connections with a certain number of randomly chosen other peers. This would lead to redundant traffic and P2P network partition in mobile ad hoc network (MANET). We propose an approach to construct an efficient unstructured P2P overlay over MANET using underlying cluster-based routing (CBRP). One of the peers in the P2P network is used as a root-peer to connect all peers. Each peer maintains connection with physically closer peers such that it can reach the root-peer. The peer constructs a minimum-spanning tree consisting of itself, its directly connected neighbor peers and 2-hop away neighbor peers to remove far away redundant links and to build an overlay closer to the physical network. Due to on-demand nature of inter-cluster routing of CBRP, the positioning algorithm for MANET is used to retrieve the file by a peer from the source peer via shorter path in the physical network. We can show by simulation that our approach performs better in comparison with the existing approach.
Numerical simulation of the transient ultrasonic wave reflection at a liquid-solid interface

In the nondestructive evaluation domain, the reflection of ultrasonic waves at liquid-solid interfaces generates interesting and usefulphenomena when the incident angle approaches the longitudinal critical angle or Rayleigh angle. In this paper, we have developed amodel for the study of the transient ultrasonic waves radiated by a plane or a focusing transducer in a liquid and reflected by a solid planeinterface. The method used is an extension of the angular spectrum method to the transient case where the reflection at the plane interfaceis taken into account by using the reflection coefficient for plane harmonic waves. The results obtained highlighted the different components of the ultrasonic field: the direct and edge waves as well as the longitudinalhead waves or leaky Rayleigh waves. These waves have been carefully analyzed and discussed. Instantaneous cartographies allowed aclear description of all the waves which appear at the liquid-solid interface.

Purpose: The minimum harvested 12 lymph nodes (LNs) is regarded as the limit for accurate staging of nodal status in colorectal cancer patients. Besides the association of the lengths of resected intestinal segments and vascular pedicles, the mesocolic mesenteric area’s impact on LN count has not been studied. We aimed to evaluate the associations between metric variables, including the mesocolic mesentery area on the nodal harvest. Methods: All consecutive patients who underwent elective colectomy with a curative intention for colon adenocarcinoma were prospectively included. The metric variables included the lengths of resected intestinal segments, vascular pedicle, and colonic mesenteric area. The variables influencing the LN count and the correlation between the total LN count and the specimens’ relevant metric measurements were analyzed. Results: There were 46 patients with a median age of 64 years. The median count for total LNs was 22, and the LN positivity was 59.2%. There was an inadequate LN yield (<12) in 3 patients (6.1%). No significant associations were found between the adequacy of nodal harvest and the demographic, clinical, and tumoral features (P>0.05). There were significant positive correlations between total LN number and length of vascular pedicle and mesenteric area (r=0.576, P<0.001 and r=0.566, P<0.001). Conclusion: The length of the vascular pedicle and mesenteric area were significantly correlated with total LN counts. Although there was no significant impact on the length of resected segments, the colonic mesenteric area can be used alone as a measure for the assessment of the nodal yield in colon cancer.
