Microstructures and nano mechanical properties of the metal tungsten film

        Zhu Li-na,Li Guo-lu,Wang Hai-dou,Xu Bin-shi,Zhuang Da-ming,Liu Jia-jun 한국물리학회 2009 Current Applied Physics Vol.9 No.3

The W film was prepared on 1045 steel by magnetron sputtering, with the thickness of 2 ㎛, its surface and cross-section morphologies were investigated with SEM, and the phase structure was analyzed with XRD. X-ray stress determinator was utilized to measure its residual stress, and the nano-hardness and elastic modulus of the film were surveyed by nano-indentation tester. The results show that the surface of W film is very compact and smooth; the particles arranged regularly, the granularity of the thin film is about 1 ㎛. The microcracks, cavities and desquamation were not found in the film and interface, and the bonding between the W film and substrate is well. The XRD results showed that the W film had a body-centered cubic structure, the lattice constant: ɑ = 0.316 nm, the growth preferred orientations are (110) and (220). The compressive stress (-169 MPa) was found on the surface. The average nano-hardness and elastic modulus of W film are 15.22 GPa, 176.64 GPa, respectively, and the mechanical properties of W film are well. • Susceptibility Loci Associations with Prostate Cancer Risk in Northern Chinese Men

        Wang, Na-Na,Xu, Yong,Yang, Kuo,Wei, Dong,Zhang, Yao-Guang,Liu, Ming,Shi, Xiao-Hong,Liang, Si-Ying,Sun, Liang,Zhu, Xiao-Quan,Yang, Yi-Ge,Tang, Lei,Zhao, Cheng-Xiao,Wang, Xin,Chen, Xin,Hui, Juan,Zhang, Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5

Background: KLK3 gene products, like human prostate-specific antigen (PSA), are important biomarkers in the clinical diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa). G protein-coupled receptor RFX6, C2orf43 and FOXP4 signaling plays important roles in the development of PCa. However, associations of these genes with PCa in northern Chinese men remain to be detailed. This study aimed to investigate their impact on occurrence and level of malignancy. Methods: All subjects were from Beijing and Tianjin, including 266 cases with prostate cancer and 288 normal individuals as controls. We evaluated associations between clinical covariates (age at diagnosis, prostate specific antigen, Gleason score, tumor stage and aggressive) and 6 candidate PCa risk loci, genotyped by PCR- high resolution melting curve and sequencing methods. Results: Case-control analysis of allelic frequency of PCa associated with PCa showed that one of the 6 candidate risk loci, rs339331 in the RFX6 gene, was associated with reduced risk of prostate cancer (odds ratio (OR) = 0.73, 95% confidence interval (CI) =0.57-0.94, P = 0.013) in northern Chinese men. In addition, subjects with CX (CC+TC) genotypes had a decreased risk for prostrate cancer compared to those carrying the TT homozygote (OR =0.64, 95% CI = 0.45- 0.90, P = 0.008). The TT genotype of 13q22 (rs9600079, T) was associated with tumor stage (P=0.044, OR=2.34, 95% CI=0.94-5.87). Other SNPs were not significantly associated with clinical covariates in prostate cancer (P > 0.05). Conclusions. rs339331 in the RFX6 gene may be associated with prostate cancer as a susceptibility locus in northern Chinese men.

Optimization of Processing Conditions of Chinese Smoke-cured Bacon (Larou) with a New Natural Coating Solution during Storage Period

        Na Liu,Qiujin Zhu,Xuefeng Zeng,Bowen Yang,Meilian Liang,Li Deng,Laping He,Cai Liang,Ruping Zhang,Juan Zhou 한국축산식품학회 2018 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.38 No.3

The study aims to determine the optimum sterilization rate and water activity of Chinese traditional smoke-cured bacon product (Larou) in the preservation with natural coating solution. With the response surface methodology (RSM), we analyzed 3 factors of processing conditions (the concentration of lysozyme, concentration of sodium alginate, and concentration of chitosan) and 2 response factors (sterilization rate and water activity). Sterilization rate and water activity of Larou were largely affected by the concentration of lysozyme, concentration of sodium alginate, and concentration of chitosan. The final optimum concentrations of lysozyme, sodium alginate, and chitosan were 0.09, 1.40, and 1.60% and realized the high sterilization rate. Water activity of sliced Larou was significantly correlated with the sterilization rate. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance analysis verified the optimum processing conditions. The coating resulted in 99.69% rate of reducing bacteria after 30-day storage. The data of the total number of colony, peroxidation value, moisture content, pH, and sensory evaluation provided the theoretical basis for extending the shelf life of Chinese traditional smoke-cured bacon product (Larou) with natural coating solution.

Ammonium-Stimulated Root Hair Branching is Enhanced by Methyl Jasmonate and Suppressed by Ethylene in Arabidopsis thaliana

        Na Yang,Changhua Zhu,Lijun Gan,Denny Ng,Kai Xia 한국식물학회 2011 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.54 No.2

Root hair development is orchestrated by nutritional factors and plant hormones. We investigated the action of ammonium (NH_4^+) and its interactions with methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and ethylene in Arabidopsis root hair growth. The formation of root hair branches was dramatically stimulated in media containing 1.25 to 20 mM NH_4^+ at pH values of 4.0 to 6.5. The NH_4^+ -treated root hairs showed a very short tip growth stage and swells on the sides that indicated the emergence of branches. MeJA (0.08 to 10 μM) worked in synergism with NH_4^+ to enhance hair branching. In contrast, ethylene had an antagonistic effect; the stimulation of hair branching by NH_4^+ was suppressed by the ethylene precursor 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) and was diminished in ethylene-overproducing mutant eto1-1 seedlings. Moreover, the application of Ag^+, an ethylene inhibitor, reduced the ACC-induced inhibition of NH_4^+ -stimulated hair branching and restored NH_4^+ -stimulated hair branching in eto1-1 seedlings. Thus, the actions of jasmonate and ethylene appear to be dependent on nutritional conditions such as available nitrogen

Control Design for Stochastic Nonlinear Systems with Full-state Constraints and Input Delay: A New Adaptive Approximation Method

        Na Li,Yu-Qun Han,Wen-Jing He,Shan-Liang Zhu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.8

In this paper, the full state constraints and input delay of stochastic nonlinear systems are studied. A new adaptive control algorithm is proposed using backstepping approach and multi-dimensional Taylor network (MTN) method. Firstly, the input delay problem is dealt with by introducing a new variable using the Padé approximation with Laplace transform. Secondly, MTNs are employed to approximate unknown nonlinear functions, and the barrier Lyapunov functions (BLFs) are constructed to deal with the state constraints. Based on this, a new approximation-based adaptive controller is proposed. Thirdly, it is proved that the proposed control method can ensure that all signals in the closed-loop system are semi-global ultimately uniformly bounded (SGUUB) in probability and the tracking error converges to a small neighborhood of the origin. Finally, two simulation examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Polyphyllin I combined with doxorubicin shows chemosensitization effect in vivo and reduces immunotoxicity of doxorubicin

        Zhu Xiang,Na Xin,Zeng Yueqin,Xu Yangantai,Chai Dongya,Yang Huanzhi,Miao Jingqian,Zhang Yuan,Yang Fenghua,Wang Yuehu,Zhou Yiping 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2022 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.18 No.3

Background Polyphyllin I (PPI), a steroidal saponin, exhibits antitumor activity and chemosensitization effect for a broad spectrum of cancer cells, however, its toxicity and chemosensitization effect in vivo is still unknown. Objective We investigated PPI’s cytotoxic activity, toxicity and chemosensitization effect and in vitro and in vivo . Results The IC 50 values of PPI on MCF-7, H22, and S180 tumor cells were 4.37 μmol/L, 1.71 μmol/L, and 0.92 μmol/L, respectively. The LD 50 of PPI was found to be 47.9 mg/kg using ip. injection. PPI at concentrations of 0.3 mg/kg, 0.6 mg/ kg, 1.2 mg/kg, and 2.4 mg/kg (1/80 LD 50 –1/20 LD 50 ) were synergized with DOX of 0.5 mg/kg to inhibit the H22 and S180 tumor growth in vivo by inducing apoptosis without obvious immunotoxicity. PPI exhibited a remarkable hemolytic effect on rabbit erythrocytes (EC 50 = 4.3 μM), while it had no impact in mice. Conclusion Our study revealed that the PPI-sensitized chemotherapeutic effect, when used in safe doses, circumvents immunotoxic side effects of DOX in vivo; thus, helping future clinical research.

      • GPR48 Promotes Multiple Cancer Cell Proliferation via Activation of Wnt Signaling

Zhu, Yong-Bin,Xu, Lin,Chen, Ming,Ma, Hai-Na,Lou, Fang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.8

The key signaling networks regulating cancer cell proliferation remain to be defined. The leucine-rich repeat containing G-protein coupled receptor 48 (GPR48) plays an important role in multiple organ development. In the present study, we investigated whether GPR48 functions in cancer cells using MCF-7, HepG2, NCI-N87 and PC-3 cells. We found that GPR48 overexpression promotes while its knockdown using small interfering RNA oligos inhibits cell proliferation. In addition, Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin signaling was activated in cells overexpressing GPR48. Therefore, our results indicated that GPR48 activates Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin signaling to regulate cancer cell proliferation.

Traffic-Aware Relay Sleep Control for Joint Macro-Relay Network Energy Efficiency

        Na Deng,Ming Zhao,Jinkang Zhu,Wuyang Zhou 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.1

With the ever growing demand of data applications, the joint macro-relay networks are emerging as a promising heterogeneous deployment to provide coverage extension and throughput enhancement. However, the current cellular networks are usually designed to be performance-oriented without enough considerations on the traffic variation, causing substantial energy waste. In this paper, we consider a joint macro-relay network with densely deployed relay stations (RSs), where the traffic load varies in both time and spatial domains. An energy-efficient scheme is proposed to dynamically adjust the RS working modes (active or sleeping) according to the traffic variations, which is called traffic-aware relay sleep control (TRSC). To evaluate the performance of TRSC,we establish an analytical model using stochastic geometry theory and derive explicit expressions of coverage probability, mean achievable rate and network energy efficiency (NEE). Simulation results demonstrate that the derived analytic results are reasonable and the proposed TRSC can significantly improve the NEE when the network traffic varies dynamically.
