Comparative Study of Tribological Properties of Multilayers Laminate Nanocomposites

Eman Ebrahim Nassar,Amal Ebrahim Nassar 한국고분자학회 2021 폴리머 Vol.45 No.5

Wear resistance studies for the multilayer laminate nanocomposite experimentally need a lot of time and money to investigate the effects of different parameters over it. Furthermore, the impact of these parameters on the surface occurs within a microsecond making the investigation very difficult. Statistical methods such as response surface methodology can be an effective technique in this matter. In the current work, the response surface methodology and the artificial neural network were used to design and analyze the weight loss at different temperatures, sliding speeds, applied loads, and weight percentages of graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) for multilayers laminate composite consists of polyurethane resin and anhydride hardener reinforced with 30 volume fraction of random fiber-glass. It was found that increasing GNP content could effectively increase friction coefficient and reduce the wear rate of multilayer laminate nanocomposite. The predicted values from artificial neural networks and experimental methods are found very close to each other.

The Impact of Leadership Skills on Food Security Intervention: A Comparative Study between Males and Females

NASSAR, Samia,NAARNE TOTH, Zsuzsanna,VASA, Laszlo Korea Distribution Science Association 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.9

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), whether international (INGOs) or local (NGOs), are the primary engines of humanitarian assistance in almost all national economies. Food security and these organizations are inextricably linked. They include a wide range of activities that need shared management or ventures to ensure food security in the Gaza Strip. Between December 2021 and January 2022, the survey was delivered online using Google forms. The target demographic for the research was those who worked for NGOs, whether it is local or international, in the Gaza Strip in the field of food security. Furthermore, 250 employees (N = 250) were used for this research. Women's contributions to these organizations' innovation in the Gaza Strip are highlighted in this research, which has crucial ramifications for policymakers and leaders. As a first step, NGOs should encourage more female leaders to enter this organization to boost female roles in this field. Leaders in Gaza Strip could also help promote the innovative management of top female leaders. Hence, these firms should offer training programs to assist women in their advancement in innovation.

Nassar, Hanan Ramadan,Zeeneldin, Ahmed A,Helal, Amany Mohamed,Ismail, Yahia Mahmoud,Elsayed, Abeer Mohamed,Elbassuiony, Mohamed A,Moneer, Manar M Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.16

Background: Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is the commonest malignancy involving the ovaries. Maximum surgical cytoreduction (MCR) followed by adjuvant taxane-platinum chemotherapy are the standard of care treatments. Aims: To study treatment outcomes of EOC patients that were maximally cyto-reduced and received adjuvant paclitaxel-carboplatin (PC) chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 174 patients with EOC treated at the Egyptian National Cancer Institute between 2006 and 2010. For inclusion, they should have had undergone MCR with no-gross residual followed by adjuvant PC chemotherapy. MCR was total abdominal hysterectomy/bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy [TAH/BSO] or unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy [USO] plus comprehensive staging. Results: The median age was 50 years. Most patients were married (97.1%), had offspring (92.5%), were postmenopausal (53.4%), presented with abdominal/pelvic pain and swelling (93.7%), had tumors involving both ovaries (45.4%) without extra-ovarian extension i.e. stage I (55.2%) of serous histology (79.9%) and grade II (87.4%). TAH/BSO was performed in 97.7% of cases. A total of 1,014 PC chemotherapy cycles were administered and were generally tolerable with 93.7% completing 6 cycles. Alopecia and numbness were the commonest adverse events. The median follow up period was 42 months. The 2-year rates for disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were 70.7% and 94.8%, respectively. The respective 5-year rates were 52.6% and 81.3%. Advanced stage and high-grade were significantly associated with poor DFS and OS (p<0.001). Age >65 years was associated with poor OS (p =0.008). Using Cox-regression, stage was independent predictor of poor DFS and OS. Age was an independent predictor of poor OS.

The effect of prolonged storage and disinfection on the dimensional stability of 5 vinyl polyether silicone impression materials

Nassar, Usama,Flores-Mir, Carlos,Heo, Giseon,Torrealba, Ysidora The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2017 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.9 No.3

PURPOSE. Vinyl polyether silicone (VPES) has a different composition from other elastomeric impression materials as it combines vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) and polyether (PE). Therefore, it is important to study its properties and behavior under different test conditions. This study investigated the dimensional stability of 5 VPES consistencies when stored for up to 2 weeks, with and without using a standard disinfection procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 40 discs of each VPES consistency (total 200) were made using a stainless steel die and ring as described by ANSI /ADA specification No. 19. 20 discs of each material were immersed in a 2.5% buffered glutaraldehyde solution for 30 minutes. Dimensional stability measurements were calculated immediately after fabrication and repeated on the same discs after 7 and 14 days of storage. The data was analyzed using two-way ANOVA with a significance level set at ${\alpha}=0.05$. RESULTS. The discs mean contraction was below 0.5% at all test times ranging from $0.200{\pm}0.014$ to $0.325{\pm}0.007$. Repeated measures ANOVA showed a statistically significant difference after 2-week storage between the disinfected and non-disinfected groups (P < .001). Although there was no statistically significant difference between the materials at the time of fabrication, the contraction of the materials increased with storage for 1 and 2 weeks. CONCLUSION. The dimensional changes of VPES impression discs after disinfection and prolonged storage complied with ANSI/ADA standard. The tested VPES impression materials were dimensionally stable for clinical use after disinfection for 30 minutes in glutaraldehyde and storage for up to 2 weeks.

      • A Model for Assessing Maximum Overtime Rate in Labor Subcontracting Practices

Nassar, Khaled,Hosny, Ossama Korea Institute of Construction Engineering and Ma 2012 Journal of construction engineering and project ma Vol.2 No.2

Despite the rapid development in the construction industry due to the changing new technologies, many projects still fail to meet target deadlines. Shortage in manpower and skilled laborers is one of the main reasons for such delays. Markets with high economic growth and economic expansion (such as Gulf Countries in the Middle East) may have pronounced labor the shortages. Labor subcontracting practices are used sometimes to increase production rates and meet project deadlines. This paper explains and analyses labor subcontracting practices currently being used in many places around the world (and especially in the Gulf Countries) and in particular defines a maximum overtime rate for laborers in the laborer-subcontracting method ensuring that the contractor gains both the time saved during overtime and also reduces the cost per unit produced. The mathematical model used formalizes a closed-form equation for overtime pay in similar situations and as such can be applicable worldwide. Data was collected from representative projects that employed such practices from various trades. Validation of the model and formula has been tested successfully by analyzing historic data. The results prove that contractors often do not reach the optimum use of their practices resulting in a higher cost per unit. The presented model and the analysis should be of interest to many contractors currently involved in the practice or considering its use and to those who wish to find new methods that would help in eliminating as much wastes as possible by allocating their resources in the most efficient way.

      • Structure-From-Motion Approach to the Reconstruction of Surfaces for Earthwork Planning

Nassar, Khaled,Jung, Young-Han Korea Institute of Construction Engineering and Ma 2012 Journal of construction engineering and project ma Vol.2 No.3

The reconstruction of surfaces from unorganized point clouds can provide very useful information for construction managers. Although point clouds are generally created using 3D scanners, they can also be generated via the structure-from-motion technique using a sequence of images. Here we report a novel surface reconstruction technique for modeling and quantifying earthworks that can be used for preliminary planning, project updates and estimating of earthwork quantities, as well as embedded planning systems in construction equipment. The application of structure-from-motion techniques in earth works is examined and its advantages and limitations identified. Data from 23 earthwork excavation construction sites were collected and analyzed. 3D surface reconstructions during the construction phase were compared to the original land form. Similar experiments were conducted with piles of earth and the results analyzed to determine appropriate ranges of use for structure-from-motion surface reconstructions in earthwork applications. The technique was found to be most suited to pile of materials with volumes less than 2000 m3. Piles up to 10 m in height and with base areas up to $300m^2$ were also successfully reconstructed. These results should be of interest to contractors seeking to utilize new technology to optimize operational efficiency.

Effect of phytic acid as an endodontic chelator on resin adhesion to sodium hypochlorite-treated dentin

        Nassar Mohannad,Hiraishi Noriko,Islam Md. Sofiqul,Romero Maria JRH.,Otsuki Masayuki,Tagami Junji 대한치과보존학회 2020 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.45 No.4

Objectives: Phytic acid (IP6), a naturally occurring agent, has been previously reported as a potential alternative to ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). However, its effect on adhesion to sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl)-treated dentin and its interactions with NaOCl have not been previously reported. Thus, in this study, the effects of IP6 on resin adhesion to NaOCl-treated dentin and the failure mode were investigated and the interactions between the used agents were analyzed. Materials and Methods: Micro-tensile bond strength (µTBS) testing was performed until failure on dentin treated with either distilled water (control), 5% NaOCl, or 5% NaOCl followed with chelators: 17% EDTA for 1 minute or 1% IP6 for 30 seconds or 1 minute. The failed specimens were assessed under a scanning electron microscope. The reaction of NaOCl with EDTA or IP6 was analyzed in terms of temperature, pH, effervescence, and chlorine odor, and the effects of the resulting mixtures on the color of a stained paper were recorded. Results: The µTBS values of the control and NaOCl with chelator groups were not significantly different, but were all significantly higher than that of the group treated with NaOCl only. In the failure analysis, a distinctive feature was the presence of resin tags in samples conditioned with IP6 after treatment with NaOCl. The reaction of 1% IP6 with 5% NaOCl was less aggressive than the reaction of the latter with 17% EDTA. Conclusions: IP6 reversed the adverse effects of NaOCl on resin-dentin adhesion without the chlorine-depleting effect of EDTA.

        Wael Nassar,Mervat El-Ansary,Dina Sabry,Mostafa A. Mostafa,Tarek Fayad,Esam Kotb,Mahmoud Temraz,Abdel-Naser Saad,Wael Essa,Heba Adel 한국생체재료학회 2016 생체재료학회지 Vol.20 No.3

Background: Bio-products from stem/progenitor cells, such as extracellular vesicles, are likely a new promising approach for reprogramming resident cells in both acute and chronic kidney disease. Forty CKD patients stage III and IV (eGFR 15–60 mg/ml) have been divided into two groups; twenty patients as treatment group “A” and twenty patients as a matching placebo group “B”. Two doses of MSC-derived extracellular vesicles had been administered to patients of group “A”. Blood urea, serum creatinine, urinary albumin creatinine ratio (UACR) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) have been used to assess kidney functions and TNF-α, TGF-β1 and IL-10 have been used to assess the amelioration of the inflammatory immune activity. Results: Participants in group A exhibited significant improvement of eGFR, serum creatinine level, blood urea and UACR. Patients of the treatment group “A” also exhibited significant increase in plasma levels of TGF-β1, and IL-10 and significant decrease in plasma levels of TNF-α. Participants of the control group B did not show significant improvement in any of the previously mentioned parameters at any time point of the study period. Conclusion: Administration of cell-free cord-blood mesenchymal stem cells derived extracellular vesicles (CF-CBMSCs-EVs) is safe and can ameliorate the inflammatory immune reaction and improve the overall kidney function in grade III-IV CKD patients.
