Vol.11 No.1
This essay explores the sociological aspects of the race-technology nexus in American culture during the twenty-first century, especially in regard to the formation of race within technoculture. The cultural shift from the industrial economy in the previous century to the present technocultural reconstruction is being explored in different forms of cultural texts across the nation. In highlighting the shifting politico-cultural milieu, this article focuses on how cyberpunk has evolved to represent social, cultural, and political dynamics of race; while cyberpunk texts in the 80s and 90s mainly depicted the identity crises of humankind and class struggles in a high-tech society, cyberpunk in the twenty-first century brings the influences of post/trans-human technology and cybernetic culture on racial experiences to the center of technology discourse. Particularly, I investigate this trend across two different narratives in Oshii Mamoru's original Ghost in the Shell released in 1995 and Rupert Sanders's 2017 remake. Through representational revisions of a technocultural world, current cyberpunk texts establish posthuman narratives as a location for the exploration of racial experiences in the supposedly post-racial United States.

We report the large-scale assembly of type-switchable field effect transistors (FETs) based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and nanoparticles (NPs). In this device, the charges stored in NPs adjacent to ambipolar CNT channels were adjusted to control the carrier type and density in the channels. We demonstrated the real-time reconfiguration of individual FET types and logic circuit functionality. Theoretical simulation of a model system was provided to explain this doping effect. This work takes advantage of the ambipolar properties of CNTs and opens up the possibility to build new types of devices with reconfigurable functionalities.

Graphene‐Encapsulated Nanoparticle‐Based Biosensor for the Selective Detection of Cancer Biomarkers
Myung, Sung,Solanki, Aniruddh,Kim, Cheoljin,Park, Jaesung,Kim, Kwang S.,Lee, Ki‐,Bum WILEY‐VCH Verlag 2011 Advanced Materials Vol.23 No.19

Biosensors, based on graphene‐encapsulated nanoparticle arrays, for highly sensitive and selective detection of breast cancer biomarkers are successfully demonstrated. The increased surface‐to‐volume ratio significantly helped in lowering the detection limits (1 pM) for the target biomarkers. In addition, the highly selective nature of the biosensor is demonstrated by detecting low concentrations of the target biomarkers.

TRIVIALITY OF A TRACE ON THE SPACE OF COMMUTING TRACE-CLASS SELF-ADJOINT OPERATORS
Myung, Sung Korean Mathematical Society 2010 대한수학회보 Vol.47 No.6
In the present article, we investigate the possibility of a real-valued map on the space of tuples of commuting trace-class self-adjoint operators, which behaves like the usual trace map on the space of trace-class linear operators. It turns out that such maps are related with continuous group homomorphisms from the Milnor's K-group of the real numbers into the additive group of real numbers. Using this connection, it is shown that any such trace map must be trivial, but it is proposed that the target group of a nontrivial trace should be a linearized version of Milnor's K-theory as with the case of universal determinant for commuting tuples of matrices rather than just the field of constants.

A graphene‐nanoparticle (NP) hybrid biosensor that utilizes an electrical hysteresis change to detect the enzymatic activity and concentration of Carboxypeptidase B was developed. The results indicate that the novel graphene‐NP hybrid biosensor, utilizing electrical hysteresis, has the ability to detect concentrations of targeted enzyme on the micromolar scale. Furthermore, to the knowledge of the authors, this is the first demonstration of a graphene‐based biosensor that utilizes a hysteresis change resulting from metallic NPs assembled on a graphene surface.

Ambipolar Memory Devices Based on Reduced Graphene Oxide and Nanoparticles
Myung, Sung,Park, Jaesung,Lee, Hyungwoo,Kim, Kwang S.,Hong, Seunghun WILEY-VCH Verlag 2010 ADVANCED MATERIALS Vol.22 No.18
Graphic Abstract
A directed-assembly method on the basis of graphene oxide (GO) pieces is developed, which allowed us to mass-produce a uniform array of graphene-based ambipolar memory devices using only conventional microfabrication facilities. Significantly, we successfully demonstrated that this device can be operated as both conventional conductivity-switching memory and new type-switching memory by adjusting the charge density on the nanoparticles.

HIGHER CYCLOTOMIC UNITS FOR MOTIVIC COHOMOLOGY
Myung, Sung The Kangwon-Kyungki Mathematical Society 2013 한국수학논문집 Vol.21 No.3
In the present article, we describe specific elements in a motivic cohomology group $H^1_{\mathcal{M}}(Spec\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_l),\;\mathbb{Z}(2))$ of cyclotomic fields, which generate a subgroup of finite index for an odd prime $l$. As $H^1_{\mathcal{M}}(Spec\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_l),\;\mathbb{Z}(1))$ is identified with the group of units in the ring of integers in $\mathbb{Q}({\zeta}_l)$ and cyclotomic units generate a subgroup of finite index, these elements play similar roles in the motivic cohomology group.
Myung, Sung The Kangwon-Kyungki Mathematical Society 2008 한국수학논문집 Vol.16 No.2
In the present article, we give a description of a chain complex of a cyclic cohomology type proposed by Grayson, which is constructed from the double exact sequences of an exact category. We also provide some results which relate it with motivic cohomology of a smooth scheme over a field.
Comparison of live shrimp bait catch efficiency in single line fishery
Myungsung Koo,Ishizaki Munechika,Samkwang Cho,Bongseong Bae,차봉진 한국수산과학회 2021 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.24 No.11
On the southern coast of South Korea, dark-banded rockfish, sea bass, and red seabream are caught by single-line fishing. In particular, red seabream and sea bass are caught in the Jeollanam-do region using gear with attached fishing hooks, such as longline and single-line gear, with live shrimp as bait. The objective of this study was to compare the catch efficiency of two types of live shrimp (naturally grown Shiba shrimp [Metapenaeus joyneri] and cultured whiteleg shrimp [Litopenaeus vannamei]) used as bait. The investigation included interviews, on-board surveys, and water tank experiments. Interviews were conducted with relevant parties to determine the preference for live shrimp as bait, and the results showed a greater preference for cultured whiteleg shrimp. Further, an on-board survey was conducted to compare catch efficiency between these two types of live shrimp bait for single-line fishing. The on-board investigations were conducted once or twice a month between June and October. In total, the amounts of fish caught using naturally grown Shiba shrimp and cultured whiteleg shrimp were 56 and 52, respectively. Of these, the numbers of sea bass, the primary target fish species, caught using naturally grown Shiba shrimp and cultured whiteleg shrimp were 43 and 40, respectively. Thus, the results showed that there was almost no difference in the number of fish caught based on the bait used. However, according to a water tank experiment, cultured whiteleg shrimp survived longer than naturally grown Shiba shrimp.
