Plastic materials called synthetic polymers are comparatively new ones that are synthesized chemically, different with natural materials such as wood, paper, stone, metal, glass, etc. Especially, the usage of the plastic materials in food industry is really various in packaging film, flexible packaging material and containers for a variety of foodstuffs. However, it is true that the environmental contamination problems such as environmental hormone leakage due to incineration or reclamation, difficulty in securing a reclaiming site, and detection of deadly poisonous dioxin, etc generated by incomplete incineration of waste plastic materials become social issues. To solve these problems, it is urgent to develop and commercialize degradable plastics that can be stably and conveniently used as like general plastics during the use and that are environment-intimate and non-harmful plastics easily decomposed by sunlight, soil microbes, heat generated from a reclaimed land and so on after the use.

The purpose of this study is to examine the function and problem of five-day school-week system and to build the desirable image of elementary school-teacher in the era of five-day work-week. As is generally known, the issue of the five-day work-week system was first raised in 1998 and banks were the first to implement it in July, 2002. However, the five-day work-week system was officially adapted July, 2004. As of July 2004, companies with more-than 1,000 employees adapted this system. This involves 1.8million workers, although some companies still have issues to work out such as holiday and pay adjustments. Five-day work-week system will be put into force in small and medium-sized businesses with more than 300 employees starting from July, 2005. The new working hours will also be fully introduced to the governmental and public sectors. Civil servants will start working five days a week from second half of 2005, while the remaining work places will only do so in 2011. Breathing in a more leisurely lifestyle, people are expected more and more to seek diverse and new ways to spend their extra time. The phases in which people may adapt to a leisurely lifestyle can be categorized into three types : cocoon, active and practical. The first describes individuals who will pass their time at home enjoying hobbies or watching television. The second refers to those who will take pace in activities outside the home and the third to those who will use the extra time to expand their knowledge and seek ways to increase their income. At the present time when there is serious talk of a five-day work-week, a number of thoughtful people are pointing out that without increased emphasis on education for leisure time, it could be very dangerous to so shorten the time that man must labor. It is no simple matter for man to learn how to utilize his leisure hours in ways that are, at best, socially beneficial and, at least, not injurious to others and to himself. In this context, five-day school-week system will be put into force in all elementary, middle and high schools nationwide once a month starting from March, 2005. Regretfully, we have traditional obsessions that 'working is a virtue' but not 'working is a vice', 'school is the only place of learning' but 'home is the place of playing', and 'the days of going to school are the only days of learning' but 'the day of not going to school is the day of playing to the full. First of all, teachers should become model persons to demolish such as fixed ideas thoroughly and to become habitual learners. As a matter of fact, man is born to live, not to prepare for life. It is urgent for us to have new ways of thinking which every place of staying is the place of learning and every day after day is the day of learning constantly. In addition, the prerequisites of successful operating of five-day school-week system are as follows : 1) the structural improvement of curriculum, 2) the flexible operation of curriculum adjusting to five-day school-week system, 3) new curriculum-development suited to the efficient reduction of curriculum and activities on holidays, 4) the constructing of various educational infrastructure, and 5) the program development for parents of students to participate voluntarily and positively. In conclusion, I suggest that teachers and parent of students make concerted efforts to introduce five-day school-week system successfully in all nation-wide schools.

Ohjective : The primary purpose of this study was a replication of the effectiveness and tolerability of rispehdone in the treatment of patients with acute mania in very larger cohon in naturalistic treatment setting to extend the data on the effect and tolerability of risperidone in the treatment of patients with acute mania to Asian population. Methods : A total of 909 patients with DSM-TV criteria of bipolar disorder current manic and hypomanic episode, entered this large, open, multicentre study. The Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS), Clinical Global Impression (CGI) and Simpson-Angus Rating Scale (SARS) were measured at baseline and weeks 1, 3 and 6, for the assessment of effectiveness and extra-pyramidal symptom (EPS). Results : This study showed statistically significant reduction of scores on the YMRS and CGI-s (mean change=-23.5±11.8, p<0.0001 ; mean change=-2.7±1.5, p<0.0001, respectively) from the baseline to the endpoint (week 6). Number of patients with 50% reduction or more in the YMRS and CGI-s scores was 693 (77.8%) and 630 (70.7%) at endpoint, respec-tively. There were no statistically significant increments of scores on SARS. Risperidone was generally well tolerated. Conclusion : The present larger open study demonstrates that hsperidone add-on therapy is effective and tolerable in treat-ment of bipolar disorder, replicating results in various controlled and uncontrolled studies from Western countries.
