      • An Improved Zero-knowledge Identification Scheme based on Quasi-Dyadic Codes

Mu Han,Xiaolin Feng,Shidian Ma 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.10 No.10

In this paper we present an improved version of the zero-knowledge identification scheme based on algebraic coding theory. Our protocol is related to the Véron’s identification scheme but permits a lower communication complexity by transferring two hash values in each round instead of three. And the protocol decreases the cheating probability to about 1/2 instead of 2/3 which reduces the rounds of the protocol. Furthermore, we construct the parity-check matrix in a quasi-dyadic form in order to dramatically reduce the matrix size. In sum, the new scheme has good properties of having a small matrix size, computation complexity, and for an overall communication cost of 22.8kb for authentication.

Higher-Order Masking Scheme against DPA Attack in Practice: McEliece Cryptosystem Based on QD-MDPC Code

( Mu Han ),( Yunwen Wang ),( Shidian Ma ),( Ailan Wan ),( Shuai Liu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.2

A code-based cryptosystem can resist quantum-computing attacks. However, an original system based on the Goppa code has a large key size, which makes it unpractical in embedded devices with limited sources. Many special error-correcting codes have recently been developed to reduce the key size, and yet these systems are easily broken through side channel attacks, particularly differential power analysis (DPA) attacks, when they are applied to hardware devices. To address this problem, a higher-order masking scheme for a McEliece cryptosystem based on the quasi-dyadic moderate density parity check (QD-MDPC) code has been proposed. The proposed scheme has a small key size and is able to resist DPA attacks. In this paper, a novel McEliece cryptosystem based on the QD-MDPC code is demonstrated. The key size of this novel cryptosystem is reduced by 78 times, which meets the requirements of embedded devices. Further, based on the novel cryptosystem, a higher-order masking scheme was developed by constructing an extension Ishai-Sahai-Wagne (ISW) masking scheme. The authenticity and integrity analysis verify that the proposed scheme has higher security than conventional approaches. Finally, a side channel attack experiment was also conducted to verify that the novel masking system is able to defend against high-order DPA attacks on hardware devices. Based on the experimental validation, it can be concluded that the proposed higher-order masking scheme can be applied as an advanced protection solution for devices with limited resources.

A Self-Authentication and Deniable Efficient Group Key Agreement Protocol for VANET

( Mu Han ),( Lei Hua ),( Shidian Ma ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2017 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.11 No.7

With the rapid development of vehicular ad hoc Network (VANET), it has gained significant popularity and received increasing attentions from both academics and industry communities in aspects of security and efficiency. To address the security and efficiency issues, a self-authentication and deniable efficient group key agreement protocol is proposed in this paper. The scheme establishes a group between road side units (RSUs) and vehicles by using self-authentication without certification authority, and improves certification efficiency by using group key (GK) transmission method. At the same time, to avoid the attacker attacking the legal vehicle by RSUs, we adopt deniable group key agreement method to negotiation session key (sk) and use it to transmit GK between RSUs. In addition, vehicles not only broadcast messages to other vehicles, but also communicate with other members in the same group. Therefore, group communication is necessary in VANET. Finally, the performance analysis shows superiority of our scheme in security problems, meanwhile the verification delay, transmission overheard and message delay get significant improvement than other related schemes.

Out-of-Band Measurement of LED-based Solar Blind UV Filters

        Muhan Cui,Xue Chen,Feng Yan,Mingchao Zhang,Huaijiang Yang,Yue Zhou 한국광학회 2014 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.18 No.3

Due to the difficulty in measuring very low out-of-band cutoff depths of solar blind UV filters, we propose a cutoff depth adjustable measurement system (CDAM) to test deep cutoff filters with a large dynamic range. The CDAM utilizing the substitution method is elaborately composed of several parts, including narrow-band LED light sources, standard reflective neutral attenuators with known attenuation coefficients, and a photomultiplier (PMT). This paper also presents an attenuator combination method ensuring that the PMT works within its linear response range. In addition, numerical simulation testifies to the method, and experiment shows that the CDAM system can achieve an extension of dynamic range from 0—6 OD to 0—10 OD, which is sufficient for the measurement of out-of-band cutoff depths of solar blind UV filters. Above all, the CDAM system, being easily implemented, of wide dynamic range, and highly precise, could be widely used in the measurement of filter cutoff depth.

Differential expression of heat shock protein 90, 70, 60 in chicken muscles postmortem and its relationship with meat quality

        Zhang, Muhan,Wang, Daoying,Geng, Zhiming,Sun, Chong,Bian, Huan,Xu, Weimin,Zhu, Yongzhi,Li, Pengpeng Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.1

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of heat shock protein (HSP) 90, 70, and 60 in chicken muscles and their possible relationship with quality traits of meat. Methods: The breast muscles from one hundred broiler chickens were analyzed for drip loss and other quality parameters, and the levels of heat shock protein (HSP) 90, 70, and 60 were determined by immunoblots. Results: Based on the data, chicken breast muscles were segregated into low (drip loss${\leq}5%$), intermediate (5%<drip loss<9.5%) and high (drip loss${\geq}9.5$) drip loss groups. The expression of HSP90 and HSP60 were significantly lower in the high drip loss group compared to that in the low and intermediate drip loss group (p<0.05), while HSP70 was equivalent in abundance in all groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: Results of this study suggests that higher levels of HSP90 and HSP60 may be advantageous for maintenance of cell function and reduction of water loss, and they could act as potential indicator for better water holding capacity of meat.

디지털 혼돈시스템을 이용한 수동형 RFID 인증 프로토콜 설계

        최무한(Muhan Choi),임거수(Geo-Su Yim) 한국정보기술학회 2014 한국정보기술학회논문지 Vol.12 No.10

Passive RFID systems which are being used often in logistics and distribution have limited program development space unlike the active system and difficulty in the application of a robust security algorithm. In order to certify this RFID system, we designed a protocol using the chaos signals which are similar to random numbers, and digitalized the chaos system of a difference equation in order to efficiently apply it to the limited development space of a passive system. Among the signals that have been generated from the difference equation Xn+1=F(Xn), Xn was used as the certification code, and Xn+1?Key was designed for data transmission. The Xn+1 signal was calculated by Xn and these two signals can certify each other. Furthermore, the output value is similar to a random number and it can efficiently cope with the illegal attacks that occur during communication. The proposed RFID certification protocol using digital chaos signals is a new method that presents a new direction to RFID which is vulnerable to tapping attack, spoofing attack, denial of service attack, and location tracking.

Evaluation of antioxidant property of heat shock protein 90 from duck muscle

        Zhang Muhan,Wang Daoying,Xu Xinglian,Xu Weimin 아세아·태평양축산학회 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.4

Objective: The objectives of this study were to investigate the direct antioxidative effect of 90 Kda heat shock protein (Hsp90) obtained from duck muscle. Methods: The interaction of Hsp90 with phospholipids and oxidized phospholipids was studied with surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and their further oxidation in the presence of Hsp90 was evaluated with thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) assay. The scavenging effect on the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2’-azinobis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) was measured, and the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy in combination with 5-tert-Butoxycarbonyl-5-methyl-1- pyrroline-N-oxide and 2-phenyl-4,4,5,5,-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide (PTIO) was utilized to determine the abilities of Hsp90 in scavenging hydroxyl and PTIO radicals. Results: SPR showed Hsp90 could bind with both phospholipids and oxidized phospholipids, and prevent their further oxidation by the TBARS assay. The DPPH and ABTS scavenging activity increased with Hsp90 concentration, and could reach 27% and 20% respectively at the protein concentration of 50 μM. The EPR spectra demonstrated Hsp90 could directly scavenge ·OH and PTIO· radicals. Conclusion: This suggests that Hsp90, a natural antioxidant in meat, may play an important role in cellular defense against oxidative stress, and may have potential use in meat products. Effect of myoglobin, hemin, and ferric iron on quality of chicken breast meat

Zhang, Muhan,Yan, Weili,Wang, Daoying,Xu, Weimin Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.8

Objective: The objective was to evaluate the impact of different forms of iron including myoglobin, hemin, and ferric chloride on the quality of chicken breast meat. Methods: Chicken breast muscles were subjected to 1, 2, 3 mg/mL of FeCl3, myoglobin and hemin treatment respectively, and the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde, meat color, tenderness, water holding capacity and morphology of meat was evaluated. Results: Hemin was found to produce more ROS and induce greater extent of lipid oxidation than myoglobin and ferric chloride. However, it showed that hemin could significantly increase the redness and decrease the lightness of the muscle. Hemin was also shown to be prominent in improving water holding capacity of meat, maintaining a relatively higher level of the immobilized water from low-field nuclear magnetic resonance measurements. Morphology observation by hematoxylin-eosin staining further confirmed the results that hemin preserved the integrity of the muscle. Conclusion: The results indicated that hemin may have economic benefit for the industry based on its advantage in improving water holding capacity and quality of meat.
