Xiaoqing ZHAO(Xiaoqing ZHAO),Qingbang MU(Qingbang MU),Brian Sheng-Xian TEO(Brian Sheng-Xian TEO ) 한국유통과학회 2023 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.10 No.1
This paper investigates the effect of independent directorship on the firm performance of Chinese listed companies under the impact of the global COVID-19 epidemic. The study starts by assessing the relationship between independent director-related characteristics and firm performance, then mines independent director characteristics variables, collects variable data, proposes reasonable hypotheses, and constructs a data model. 1597 companies listed on Shanghai and Shenzhen stock index, China, from 2020 to 2021 has been selected as the research sample. An empirical study on the relationship between independent directors’ characteristics and firm performance was conducted using SPSS25. The results show that under the impact of the global COVID-19 epidemic, the proportion of independent directors on the board of directors, the age of independent directors, the remuneration of independent directors, and the overseas background of independent directors in Chinese listed companies have a negative relationship with the current firm performance, while the proportion of female independent directors and the part-time rate of independent directors do not have a positive effect on firm performance. The findings of this study strongly imply that independent directors’ characteristics play a significant role in corporate governance and firm performance in Chinese listed companies and that the external environment has an impact on how well independent directors can carry out their duties.
Construction and Performance Analysis of BIBD-QC-LDPC Codes for Correcting Erasure-Bursts
Sheng Huang,Xueting Jia,Jianguo Yuan,Pan Mu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.8 No.2
This paper presents a novel approach for constructing structured regular QC-LDPC codes based on a special type of combinatorial designs, known as the balanced incomplete block design (BIBD).The code design approach based on the technology of block cyclic shift and dispertion (BCSD) for correcting erasure-bursts over the binary bursts erasure channel (BBEC). Furthermore, the Tanner graph of the constructed codes is free of 4-cycles, hence the BCSD-QC-LDPC codes have girth at least 6. The simulation results show that the BCSD-QC-LDPC codes perform well over the BBEC channel with iterative message-passing decoding.

This paper addresses two interrelated problems concerning the tracking control of pod propulsion unmanned surface vessel (USV), namely, the modeling of pod propulsion USV, and tracking controller design. First, based on MMG modeling theory, the model of pod propulsion USV is derived. Furthermore, a practical adaptive neural tracking controller is proposed by backstepping technique, neural network approximation and adaptive method. Meanwhile, unlike some existing tracking methods for surface vessel whose control algorithms suffer from "explosion of complexity", a novel neural shunting model is introduced to solve the problem. Using a Lyapunov functional, it is proven that all error signals in the system are uniformly ultimately bounded. The advantages of the paper are that first, the underactuated characteristic of pod propulsion USV is proved; second, the neural shunting model is used to solve the problem of "explosion of complexity", and this is a combination of knowledge in the field of biology and engineering; third, the developed controller is able to capture the uncertainties without the exact information of hydrodynamic damping structure and the sea disturbances. Numerical examples have been given to illustrate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Background: Vitiligo is a common disease characterized by cutaneous white maculae due to loss of melanocytes. It is a polygenic disease, however, the exact pathogenesis of vitiligo is not yet known. The estrogen receptor (ESR) 1 gene was selected as a candidate gene because some researchers treated vitiligo successfully with the steroid-thyroid hormone mixture containing estrogen. Furthermore ESR was expressed in the melanocytes which have an important role in the pigmentation. The polymorphisms of ESR1 gene in vitiligo patients was not reported yet. Objective: To determine whether polymorphisms of ESR1 gene were associated with susceptibility to vitiligo patients in Korean population. Methods: We conducted case-control association study of vitiligo patients (120) and healthy controls (254). Genotypes of ESR1 gene (intron 1 C/T, exon 4 C/G, and exon 8 A/G) were determined by polymerase chain reaction followed by restriction enzyme digestion. Results: Intron 1 T/C allele frequency was significantly different between patients and controls (P=0.034). Intron 1 T/C genotype distribution (P=0.021) and allele frequency (P = 0.013) were different between female vitiligo patients and female controls. Intron 1 T/C allele frequency showed significantly difference between generalized type of vitiligo patients and controls (P=0.044). Genotype distributions and allele frequencies of exon 4 C/G and exon 8 A/G polymorphisms were not different between patients and controls. Conclusion: The present study suggests that ESR1 may be a possible risk factor for female or generalized type of vitiligo patients.

Objective Individuals with dementia are at a substantially elevated risk for mortality; however, few studies have examined multimorbidity patterns and determined the inter-relationship between these comorbidities in predicting mortality risk. Methods This is a prospective cohort study. Data from 6,556 patients who were diagnosed with dementia between 1997 and 2012 using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database were analyzed. Latent class analysis was performed using 16 common chronic conditions to identify mortality risk among potentially different latent classes. Logistic regression was performed to determine the adjusted association of the determined latent classes with the 5-year mortality rate. Results With adjustment for age, a three-class model was identified, with 42.7% of participants classified as “low comorbidity class (cluster 1)”, 44.2% as “cardiometabolic multimorbidity class (cluster 2)”, and 13.1% as “FRINGED class (cluster 3, characterized by FRacture, Infection, NasoGastric feeding, and bleEDing over upper gastrointestinal tract).” The incidence of 5-year mortality was 17.6% in cluster 1, 26.7% in cluster 2, and 59.6% in cluster 3. Compared with cluster 1, the odds ratio for mortality was 9.828 (95% confidence interval [CI]=6.708–14.401; p<0.001) in cluster 2 and 1.582 (95% CI=1.281–1.953; p<0.001) in cluster 3.Conclusion Among patients with dementia, the risk for 5-year mortality was highest in the subpopulation characterized by fracture, urinary and pulmonary infection, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and nasogastric intubation, rather than cancer or cardiometabolic comorbidities. These findings may improve decision-making and advance care planning for patients with dementia.

This paper addresses the formation tracking control problem of multiple underactuated unmanned surface vehicles. Considering many actual situations, a practical formation control scheme, which is performed by using a leader-follower approach, minimum learning parameter technique, adaptive technology and so on. Firstly, a virtual unmanned surface vehicle is designed according to the location information of the leader unmanned surface vehicle to estimate the leader’s speed information while reducing the communication bandwidth. Secondly, a formationcontrol law is designed to make the follower underactuated unmanned surface vehicles track the leader. Unknown dynamics and external disturbances are regarded as a whole and compensated by the minimum learning parameter technique instead of multi-layer neural network and the neural shunt model can handle multiple derivation problems of virtual control laws. Meanwhile, the robustness of the controlled system is improved through adaptive technology. Besides, an auxiliary design system is employed to constrain the output range of the control law. Finally, numerical simulations are implemented to prove the feasibility of the formation tracking control strategy.
A Time-Varying Lookahead Distance of ILOS Path Following for Unmanned Surface Vehicle
Dong-Dong Mu,Guo-Feng Wang,Yun-Sheng Fan 대한전기학회 2020 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.15 No.5
This paper is concerned with the path following control for an unmanned surface vessel subject to unknown dynamics and external disturbance. Firstly, an integral Line-of-Sight navigation strategy based on a fuzzy strategy to optimize lookahead distance to achieve faster convergence speed is proposed. Then a novel adaptive course control law based on trajectory linearization control technology is proposed, which is combined with the integral Line-of-Sight navigation strategy to form a complete unmanned surface vessel path following strategy. From the author’s point of view, this is the fi rst time that trajectory linearization control technology has been applied to the path following scheme by controlling the course. At the same time, in order to improve the robustness of the path following system, the unknown dynamics, external disturbance, and error in the system are compensated by neural network minimum learning parameter method with less computational complexity and a robust term, respectively. Furthermore, hyperbolic tangent function, Nussbaum function, and neural shunting model are introduced into the design of control law to solve the potential input saturation problem. Finally, the numerical simulation experiments of straight line and curve path following are given to prove the feasibility and universality of the whole set of path following scheme.
