      • Control of mixing process in a novel micro-mixer

        Behzad Otrodi,Mohammad Eghtesad,Mojatba Mahzoon,Saeid movahed 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10

There are many different types of micro-mixers which have been designed to enhance mixing efficiency of fluid flow in micro-channels. The output of micro-channels integrated with micro-mixers in some cases may need to be in a certain range. In this article we design a new type of micro-mixer by utilizing conductive surfaces and walls with variable zeta potential. Interaction of the induced charged electro-kinetic (ICEK) phenomenon (due to existence of conductive surfaces) and producing diverse electro-osmotic boundary velocity (because of presence of walls with changeable zeta potential) together lead to increase mixing efficiency of the system significantly. Numerical simulation are performed to analyze the system and the results show that by using this micro-mixer with different zeta potential applied to walls, we can have a wide range of mixing efficiency between 30% and 85%. Moreover, we applied a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) to the system to manage the percentage of mixing efficiency within this range. This controller based on desired mixing efficiency; determine the amount of zeta potential on each wall and thus we can reach the amount of required mixing efficiency.

The effect of ginger and metoclopramide in the prevention of nausea and vomiting during and after surgery in cesarean section under spinal anesthesia

( Hamideh Pakniat ),( Fatemeh Lalooha ),( Farideh Movahed ),( Aynaz Boostan ),( Marzieh Beigom Khezri ),( Caleb Hedberg ),( Mohammad Ali Hosseini ) 대한산부인과학회 2020 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.63 No.2

Objective Postoperative nausea and vomiting is one of the most common side effects after anesthesia in surgeries, such as cesarean section. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ginger and metoclopramide in the prevention of nausea and vomiting during and after cesarean section. Methods This clinical trial was conducted on 180 patients aged 18-40 years who underwent cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. The first group received 10 mg of metoclopramide via intravenous injection (metoclopramide group), and the second group received 1 g of oral ginger (ginger group) half an hour before spinal anesthesia. The frequency and severity of nausea and vomiting during surgery and at 2, 6, 12, and 24 hours postoperatively were compared in both groups. To analyze the results, the t-test, chi-square test, and Mann-Whitney test were used. Results There was no significant difference in the frequency of nausea and vomiting between the 2 groups during operation, 2 hours and 6 hours after surgery (P=0.182, 0.444 and 0.563 respectively). The severity of nausea and vomiting was also similar in the 2 groups (P=0.487 and 0.652 respectively); however, the metoclopramide group had a lower systolic blood pressure (P<0.001; df=2.176; f=18.66) and mean arterial pressure (P<0.001; df=2.176; f=6.36) than the ginger group. Conclusion The results revealed that ginger reduced nausea and vomiting to the same extent as metoclopramide in patients undergoing cesarean section. Asbestos and Asbestos-related Diseases in Vietnam: In reference to the International Labor Organization/World Health Organization National Asbestos Profile

Pham, Van Hai,Tran, Thi Ngoc Lan,Le, Giang Vinh,Movahed, Mehrnoosh,Jiang, Ying,Pham, Nguyen Ha,Ogawa, Hisashi,Takahashi, Ken Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute 2013 Safety and health at work Vol.4 No.2

This paper describes progress on formulating a national asbestos profile for the country of Vietnam. The Center of Asbestos Resource, Vietnam, formulated a National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health, with due reference to the International Labor Organization/World Health Organization National Asbestos Profile. The Center of Asbestos Resource was established by the Vietnamese Health Environment Management Agency and the National Institute of Labor Protection, with the support of the Australian Agency for International Development, as a coordinating point for asbestos-related issues in Vietnam. Under the National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health framework, the Center of Asbestos Resource succeeded in compiling relevant information for 15 of the 18 designated items outlined in the International Labor Organization/World Health Organization National Asbestos Profile, some overlaps of the information items notwithstanding. Today, Vietnam continues to import and use an average of more than 60,000 metric tons of raw asbestos per year. Information on asbestos-related diseases is limited, but the country has begun to diagnose mesothelioma cases, with the technical cooperation of Japan. As it stands, the National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health needs further work and updating. However, we envisage that the National Profile on Asbestos-related Occupational Health will ultimately facilitate the smooth transition to an asbestos-free Vietnam.
