      • 徘徊性거미(Pardosa astrigera L.Koch)의 視覺器 微細構造에 관한 硏究

        The Wolf spides, Padosa astrigera L.Koch, had four pairs of ocelli that arranged in three rows on the cephalothorax. Along the anterior margin lay a pair of small anterior median eye(AME) flanked on each side by anterior lateral eye(ALE). Two large posterior median eye(PME) was situated on the clypeus behind the anterior row and still more posteriorly was a pair of posterior lateral eye(PLE). The common structure of eyes consisted in cornea, lens, vitreous body, retina. Lens was composed of cuticular lamella and biconvex type. Vitreous body comprised simple columna cells. The visual cell of retina consisted of cell body, rhabdome, and intermediate segment. Bi-polar neuron (cell body was found at the level of the middle portion of visual cell) was found in anterior median eye and unipolar neuron(rhabdomere lay beneath the cell body) in others. Rhabdome showed that arranged in PME and PLE. But AME and ALE rhabdome were irregulary in retina. Except AME, incontinuous tapetum found in ALE, PME, PLE. Anterior median eye was similar to anterior lateral eye in length and posterior median eye similar to posterior lateral eye. COmponents size of composed eye was similar to 4 pairs eye in cornea. Size of lens, cell body, and rhabdome was similar not only anterior median eye and anterior lateral eye but also posterior median eye and posterior lateral eye. Vitreous body was large posterior median eye than others.

The purpose of this study is development of posture evaluation and Range of Motion(ROM) system by using digital vision analysis method. The results of this study are as follows. First, Scoliosis evaluation through this research measurement system represent 3mm error in 7 cervical point and deepest lumbar point, 0.7mm error in other point. This mean this research measurement system have a reliability for scoliosis evaluation. Second, for spine line evaluation on high fat subject, we need reconstrection spine line after mesurement for fat thickness in 7 cervical point and deepest lumbar point. Third, In pedioscope error test, it present 0.01848cm in X axis and 0.01757cm in Y axis. This results mean pedioscope have a reliability foot evaluation. Forth, Posture evaluation and Range of Motion measurement system by using digital vision analysis method can fast measure in range of motion and foot evaluation and posture. therefore we can expect this system application in young people posture clinic center and hospital and so on.

        Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) Operation: From Design to Initial Results

        Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) is South Korea’s first space exploration mission, developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. It aims to develop technologies for lunar exploration, explore lunar science, and test new technologies. KPLO was launched on August 5, 2022, by a Falcon-9 launch vehicle from cape canaveral space force station (CCSFS) in the United States and placed on a ballistic lunar transfer (BLT) trajectory. A total of four trajectory correction maneuvers were performed during the approximately 4.5-month trans-lunar cruise phase to reach the Moon. Starting with the first lunar orbit insertion (LOI) maneuver on December 16, the spacecraft performed a total of three maneuvers before arriving at the lunar mission orbit, at an altitude of 100 kilometers, on December 27, 2022. After entering lunar orbit, the commissioning phase validated the operation of the mission mode, in which the payload is oriented toward the center of the Moon. After completing about one month of commissioning, normal mission operations began, and each payload successfully performed its planned mission. All of the spacecraft operations that KPLO performs from launch to normal operations were designed through the system operations design process. This includes operations that are automatically initiated post-separation from the launch vehicle, as well as those in lunar transfer orbit and lunar mission orbit. Key operational procedures such as the spacecraft’s initial checkout, trajectory correction maneuvers, LOI, and commissioning were developed during the early operation preparation phase. These procedures were executed effectively during both the early and normal operation phases. The successful execution of these operations confirms the robust verification of the system operation.

        Nitric oxide(NO) is synthesized via the oxidation of L-arginine by a family of nitric oxide synthases(NOS), which are either constitutive(cNOS) or inducible(iNOS). The induction of iNOS in tissues can lead to the sustained production of high concentrations of NO which may exert pro-inflammatory effects including vasodilation, edema, cyototoxicity, and its activity can be mediated by various pro-inflammatory cytokine, including interferon γ(INF-γ), tumor necrosis factor, IL-1 and IL-6. The enzyme, iNOS, became a new target for pharmacologcal research with the aim to find new substances for the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders. Murine macrophages produce large amounts of NO when activated with TEN-γ plus LPS. Murine macrophage-like cell line, RAW 264.7, is a suitable cell model to perform in vitro studies regarding the iNOS system. Artemisin feddei Lev. et Vnt.(Compositae) is a perennial herb growing in Korea. The aerial parts have been used in foik medicine as antiinflammatory, antipyretic, choleretic and diuretic agent. Sesquiterpenelactones were isolated from this plant. In the course of screening for NO inhibitory activity from medicnial plants, the aqueous extract of this plant was found to have a significant activity.

        국가대표 접영선수의 방향전환 동작 평가

        J. H. Back, S. H. LEE, Y. J. Moon. The kinematical Evaluation of Natural Team's Butterfly Turn motion. Korean Journal of Sport Biomechanics, Vol. 14, No. 1, pp. 117-131, 2004. The foreign superior players and national team players' turning phase was measured, compared and analyzed to help the representative players improve the skill of turn. The underwater video camera used to analyze and evaluate the representative players' skill of turn in detail and the result is as follows. 1. The record for the phase of turn was similar to the rank of the last record. The improvement of the skill of turn was required because Korean players' record was lower than the foreign players' one. In case of 200m events the 1st turn was the fastest and it took more time as the turn is repeated. 2. It shows that the preparation phase and turning motion cause the difference between the players and within one player. 3. The horizontal movement of center of gravity moves to turning point slowly in the preparation phase, does not move nearly in the turning phase and increase again in the propulsion phase. Good record has short time for turn phase. The result means that the shorten the turning phase is the most important factor. Therefore the preparation for this is required. The vertical movement is maintained or increase a little and then move to from the turning phase. 4. The characteristic of horizontal velocity in center of gravity is that there is any big changes at the preparation phase, the faster velocity is found from the better record and the accelerating time is fast at the propulsion phasen. The wrong motion is made by not using the swimming velocity for turning and waiting and more time is required by this. 5. The angle of knee when the player touch the turning point is 106.22435.56 and the maximum angle of knee during the driving after the touch of tuning point is full extension. The size of maximum angle of knee did not match with the required time of propulsion phase. It seems that the individual difference is big when the players touch the turning point the angle of knee and the research for the individual angle which can reveal the maximum power should be carried out. The national team player's skill for the turn is behind the foreign players' one and a lot of problems were found. It shows that the players could not practice the skill for turn during the training. The 1st reason for it is the various facilities like underwater window or analyzing equipment like underwater camera with which the coaches can teach and correct the players' detailed skill. It is need to evaluate the players' detailed skill exactly and correct it by objective data to complete the good skill in the future. In this regard, the investment for the facility is necessary.

      • 2차병원에서의 소아과 환자의 응급실 및 외래 이용에 관한 연구

        Objectives : To analyze the characteristics of the pediatric patients who visited the emergency room and outpatient department of secondary hospital in order to properly guide pediatric patients to use emergency room and raise the efficiency Methods : The authors investigated and analyzed sex, age, visit day, visit time, length of stay, hospitalization and diagnostic entities of the pediatric patients who visited the emergency room and outpatient department of Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital from January 2003 to December 2005 in a retroactive approach with their medical records. Results : For the three years, the number of total patients who visited the emergency room was 56,051 and among them, the number of pediatric patients was 7,490 (13.4%). The age group of 1 to 2 years was the largest with 2,488 (33.2%). The male to female ratio was 1.34:1. Sunday was the day of the week that the largest number of patienst visited with 2,375 (31.7%) and nearly half (48.4%) of the patients visited the emergency room during the weekend. The time when the most patient visited the emergency room was between 8 pm to 12 am. Regarding the length of stay, the highest number of patients (65.0%) stayed in the emergency room for on hour or less, and the average length of visit was 1.5 hours, which was rather short. Most patients (68.8%) left the hospital after taking simple physical examination and procedure(prescription). The most frequent diagnoses for the pediatric patients who visited the emergency room were acute pharyngitis (26.0%), acute gastroenteritis (20.7%), fever (6.6%). During the same period, the total number of pediatric patients who visited the outpatient department was 125,513. The age group of 3 to 5 was the largest with 36,041 (28.7%). The male to female ratio was 1.34:1. 6.0% of total outpatients required treatment in a hospital. Most frequent diagnoses of the outpatients were asthma (24.4%), pneumonia (12.0%), vaccination (8.7%), febrile convulsion (8.4%), acute pharyngitis (6.6%), acute gastroenteritis (5.8%). Conclusion : It is considered that a large number of pediatric patients still have used emergency room for treatment of simple and mild diseases instead of visiting outpatient department and/or primary hospital. Thus further efforts are required to properly guide pediatric patients to use emergency room and to raise the efficiency of their use.

        배회성 거미(Pardosa astrigera) 주안과 부안의 미세구조적 분석

        배회성거미안 별늑대거미의 4쌍의 단안은 앞이마 부분 1열에 전중안, 전측안, 2열에 후중안, 그리고 두흉부의 3열에는 후측안이 각각 1쌍씩 위치하고 있었다. 전중안의 망막을 구성하는 시세포는 두 개의 신경돌기를 가진 전형적인 이극성 신경세포였으며, 나머지 단안인 전측안, 후중안, 후측안은 단극성 신경세포임이 확인되었다. 후중안과 후측안의 감간은 시세포 원형질막의 일부가 미세융모로 변형된 감간체로 되어 었였으며, 망막을 구성하는 시세포들은 하나의 감간 주위에 규칙적으로 색소세포 돌기가 분포하고 있었으나, 전중안과 전측안의 망막내에는 불규칙적으로 시세포와 색소세포들이 분포 하고 있었다. 반사층은 시세포의 감간과 intermediate segment 사이에서 위치하는 불연속적인 구조이며, 주안인 전중안을 제외한 나머지 눈에서 관찰되었다. 전중안과 전측안이 그리고 후중안과 후측안의 크기가 각각 비슷하였으며, 단안을 구성하는 각 구성물의 크기는 각막이 4쌍의 눈에서 모두 비슷하였고, 렌즈, 세포체, 감간은 전중안과 전측안, 후중안과 후측안이 각각 비슷하였으며, 초자체는 후중안이 가장 크고 이어서, 후측안, 전중안, 전측안의 순으로 관찰되었다. Anterior median eye was similar to anterior lateral eye in length and posterior median eye similar to posterior lateral eye. Component size of eye were similar to 4 pairs eye in cornea. Size of lens, cell body, and rhabdome was similar not only anterior median eye and anterior lateral eye but also posterior median eye and posterior lateral eye. Vitreous body was large posterior median eye than others.

        The Evolving Policy Debate on Border Closure in Korea

Methods: We collated and reviewed previously conducted review studies on border closures during infectious disease outbreaks to derive relevant themes and factors. Results: According to our systematic review on border closures and travel restrictions, the effects of such containment efforts are limited. We suggest considering the following factors when determining whether to impose border closure measures: (1) disease characteristics, (2) timeliness of implementation, (3) transmission delay and the basic reproduction number, (4) globalization and pandemics, and (5) social and economic costs. Conclusions: Our assessment indicates that the effects of border closures are at best temporary and limited. Alternative measures must be contemplated and implemented to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in particular and infectious diseases more broadly.

      • 白花蛇舌草 메탄올 抽出物의 抗腫瘍 效果 및 抗癌 棋戰에 關한 硏究

        Objectives: This experimental study was carried out to evaluate the effects of aqueous and methanol extracts of Hedyotis diffusa which has long been used for cancer treatment in oriental medicines on the induction of apoptotic cell death in human lymphoid leukemia cell line, HL-60. Methods: Cells were treated with various concentrations (200 to 0.4㎍) and periods (6 to 30 hr) of H_2O and methanol extracts of Hedyotis diffusa. Then, cells were tested for viability by MTT assay. Cells wrere treated with 200㎍/ml of methanol extract fork various periods. Genomic DNA was isolated, separated, on 1.5% agarose gels, stained with ethidium bromide and visualized under UV light. Cells were treated with 200㎍/ml of each extract for 16hr.Then, cells were treated with various doses of each extract for 12 hr and 100㎍/ml of methanol extract for various periods. Lysate from the cells used to measure the activity of caspase-1 and-3 proteases by using fluorogenic peptide substrates including acetyl-YVAD-AMC and acetyl-DEVD-AMC, respectively, Cells were treated with 200㎍/ml of each extract for various periods. Cell lysates were immunoprecipated with anti-JNKl antibodies. The immune complex was reacted with 32^p-ATP and c-Jun as a substrate. The phosphotransferase activity of JNKI was measured by suing Phosphoimage analyzer (Fuji Co., Japan). Nuclear extracts were isolated and incubated with oligonucleotide probe of NF-kB was measured by using EMSA and visualized by PhosphoImage analyzer (Fuji Co, Japan). Cell lysates were prepared and analyzed by Western blotting with anti-Bc12 antibodies and anti-Bax antibodies. Cells were pretreated with various doses of methanol extract for 2 hr. Then, the extract was removed by centrifugation. Cells were resuspended with RPMI-1640 media containing 0.3% agarose, 10% FBS, overlayred onto bottom layer agarose and incubated at CO_2 incubator for 6 days. The number of colony was cunted under light microscopy (×100). Results: The death of HL_60 cells was markedly induced by the addition of methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa in a dose and time-dependent manners. The apoptotic characteristic ladder pattern of DNA strand break was observed in death of HL_60 cells. In addition, it was shown nucleus chromatin condensation under Hoechst staining. Therefore, Hedyotis diffusa extract-induced death of HL-60 cells is mediated by apoptotic signaling processes. The activity of Caspaxe 3-like proteases remained in a basal level in HL-60 cells treated with aqueous extract of Hedyotis diffusa. However, it was markedly increased in HL-60 cells treated with methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa. In addition, the phosphotransferase activity of JNKl was increased in HL-60 cells treated with methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa. Furthermore, the activation of transcriptional activator, NF-kB was markedly induced by methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa. Anti-apoptotic Bc12 was cleaved into 23Kda fragment by treatment of methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa. However, expression of proapoptotic Bax protein was increased by treatment of methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa in a time-dependent manner. Furthermore, methanol extract markedly inhibited the colony forming efficiency of HL-60 cells in semisolid agar culture. Conclusions: Above results suggest that methanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa induces the apoptotic death of human leukemic HL-60 cells via activations of Caspase-3 proteases, JNKI, transcriptional activator NF-κB, In addition, our results also suggest that methanol exthanol extract of Hedyotis diffusa reduces the malignant potential of HL-60 cells via down regulation of colony forming effciency through cleavage of Bc12 as well as induction of Bax.

      • 요 검사용 스트립의 분광학적 분석을 위한 Computer Simulation

        The spectroscopic properties of 9 pads in a urine strip were studied to develop a urine analysis system. From the present work, we determined the wavelength range which could accurately distinguish the degrees of 9 test items. A computer simulation was performed to distinguish the primary color reaction in the urine strips by using the reflectance of the urine strips, the iuminous intensity of light-emitting diodes, and the spectral sensitivity of photodiodes. The simulation results agree well with the experimental results obtained by using a UV-Visible spectrophotometer.
