The purpose of this study is to investigate Seonyudo Park and Kkummaru in terms of haptic space. This is an attempt to escape from the limits of optical space that identifies the space with abstract concepts. Haptic perception of the space refers to feeling the space with all the senses through non-hierarchical interactions. Time of the haptic space is revealed by Deleuze’s crystalline description and Bergson’s pure recollection that is not useful to identify objects. According to two concepts, the running present forks into the past and the future, and the nature of time appears at the point of indiscernibility in which the past, present, and future coexist. Thought on time about the architecture provides a valid point of view to understand the relationship of visitor’s sensory experience of space, recollection, and emotion. In this respect, it can be said that Joh sung-yong’s two works explored for new areas of architectural experience by building up the potential image of the subject which is placed in the human memory. And then this study shows that two works recover the relationship between the past and the present so that they give an opportunity to consider the meaning of time in the architecture.

The purpose of this study is to investigate Seonyudo Park and Kkummaru in terms of haptic space. This is also an attempt to explore temporality of appearing in architectural spaces with reference to cinematic expression in which time is visible and perceptible. The film of Chris Marker’s La Jetee depicts temporal relationship by indeterminate continuum, reading the space on the disjunctive relationships of visual and auditory, and aberrance of time and space. Based on the three categories that is derived from those discussions, this study analyzes the experience of non-chronological time induced by architectural devices: the bifurcation of indeterminate circulation, the readability of space on the disjunction of visual and auditory, and the border-dismantling. Therefore, this study have a relationship with the contemporary discourse on time and events as transformation and becoming, and it means to escape from the deterministic thinking to emphasize invariability and space rather than variation and time.

The study is to examine the mediating effect of psychological empowerment on the causal relationship between high-performance work system and organizational citizenship behavior. This study collected data from public organizations that are responsible for social welfare provision in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-Do, and Pusan in South Korea. This study employs confirmatory factor analysis in Amos 21 to find the discriminant validity of all constructs and regression analysis by Baron and Kenny (1986) to test that psychological empowerment is a mediator of the causal relationship between high-performance work system and organizational citizenship behavior. As the result of the analysis, psychological empowerment has a significant mediating effect on the relationship between high-performance work system and organizational citizenship behavior. The study suggests to the managers in social welfare organizations how they need to enhance organizational citizenship behavior through psychological empowerment themselves.

<P>Disruption of cell cycle control genes, including p16, is known to contribute to the cancerogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM). We investigated the methylation status of p16 and its association with common cytogenetic changes, clinicolaboratory findings, and survival in MM. Methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction was performed in 99 newly diagnosed MM patients using two different sets of primers (p16M1 and p16M2). Four patterns of p16 promoter methylation were observed: (1) concurrent methylation of p16M1 and p16M2 (P1P2), 27.3%; (2) methylation of p16M1 alone (P1N2), 7.1%; (3) methylation of p16M2 alone (N1P2), 26.3%; and (4) no methylation (N1N2), 39.4%. Patients with p16P1P1 showed shorter survivals than those with the other methylation patterns (P1N2, N1P2, or N1N2; median survival, 12 vs. 43 months; P < 0.001), regardless of the treatment protocol. In a multivariate analysis, p16P1P2 was an independent prognostic factor of adverse outcome in MM. According to International Staging System (ISS), the study population could be divided into 21.2% (20/94) for stage I, 22.3% (21/94) for stage II, and 56.4% (53/94) for stage III (P = 0.003). ISS can divide patients into prognostic groups. Of note, in patients older than 60 years, ISS was not reflective of disease stage (P = 0.114). If p16P1P2 sets up as stage 4 of ISS, modified ISS could be a more reliable staging system irrespective of age in Korean MM patients (P = 0.003 and P = 0.004 in patients younger than 60 years and in patients older than 60 years, respectively). Our study suggests the potential use of p16 methylation status in predicting the outcome of MM patients and the applicability of demethylating agents in MM.</P>

<P>A recent hypothesis suggesting that the pharmacological target TRPV1 (transient receptor potential vanilloid subfamily, member 1) may function as a tumour suppressor, which potentially impacts the development of TRPV1 antagonist therapeutics for a range of conditions. However, little is known about the long-term physiologic effects of TRPV1 blockade in the skin. In vitro and in vivo studies suggested that the potent TRPV1 competitive antagonist AMG-9810 promoted proliferation in N/TERT1 cells (telomerase-immortalised primary human keratinocytes 1) and tumour development in mouse skin that was mediated through EGFR/Akt/mTOR signalling. We attempted to reproduce the reported in vitro and in vivo findings to further explore this hypothesis to understand the underlying mechanism and the risk associated with TRPV1 antagonism in the skin. In vitro proliferation studies using multiple methods and topical application with AMG-9810 and structurally similar TRPV1 antagonists such as SB-705498 and PAC-14028 were performed. Although we confirmed expression of TRPV1 in primary human epidermal keratinocytes (HEKn) and spontaneously immortalised human keratinocytes (HaCaT), we were unable to demonstrate cell proliferation in either cell type or any clear evidence of increased expression of proteins in the EGFR/Akt/mTOR signalling pathway with these molecules. We were also unable to demonstrate skin tumour promotion or underlying molecular mechanisms involved in the EGFR/Akt/mTOR signalling pathway in a single-dose and two-stage carcinogenesis mouse study treated with TRPV1 antagonists. In conclusion, our data suggest that inhibiting the pharmacological function of TRPV1 in skin by specific antagonists has not been considered to be indicative of skin tumour development.</P>
케냐의 지속가능한 모자보건 증진을 위한 감염병 퇴치 도전과 성과

케냐에서는 임산부 무상 케어 프로그램인 ‘린다 마마 프로그램’을 시행하고 있지만, 2017년 기준 출생아 10만 명 당 임산부 사망률이 342에 달하며 에이즈, B형 간염, 매독 등 감염률이 높은 상황이다. 신속간이검사(래피드진단)를 중심으로 진단이 이루어지고 있으나 정확도가 떨어지고 있어, 정확하고 신속한 진단 방법이 필요하다. 이에 한국국제협력단(KOICA)의 혁신적 기술 프로그램(CTS)을 통해 병원 이외에 학교, 지역 보건소 등에서 최소 교육으로도 검사가 가능한 에이즈, B형 간염, 매독을 진단할 수 있는 다중면역진단기기 및 다중진단키트를 개발하였다. 진단키트의 민감도 및 특이도는 각 90% 이상으로 나타났으며 이는 신속진단키트 대비 20% 이상 향상된 것이다. 가격경쟁력을 갖춘 진단기기와 키트 보급으로 15세 이상 49세 이하 가임여성들의 에이즈, B형 간염, 매독 감염에 대한 지속적인 모니터링이 가능해짐으로서 모자 보건 증진에 기여할 수 있을 것이다. In Kenya, the ‘Linda Mama Program’, a free care program for pregnant women, is being implemented, but as of 2017, maternal deaths per 100,000 live births reached 342, and the infection rate such as AIDS, hepatitis B, and syphilis is high. Diagnosis is being made centering on a quick simple test (rapid diagnosis), but the reliability is low, so an accurate and quick diagnosis method is needed. Through the Innovative Technology Program (CTS) of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), we developed a multi-immune diagnostic device and multi-diagnostic kit that can diagnose AIDS, hepatitis B, and syphilis, which can be tested with minimal education at schools and local public health centers in addition to hospitals. The sensitivity and specificity of the diagnostic kit were each 90% or more, which was improved by more than 20% compared to the rapid diagnostic kits. The supply of cost-competitive diagnostic devices and test kits will enable continuous monitoring of AIDS, hepatitis B, and syphilis infections among women of childbearing age between the ages of 15 and 49, thereby contributing to the improvement of maternal and child health.

As the standard of living is higher, the passengers using public transportations desire better qualities of environment as well as more comfortable indoor environment. In case of train, the passengers’ comfort in passenger cabin is one of the most important elements to be competitive with other transport systems. The indoor air quality of the cabin should be managed properly, because many passengers travel for a long time in the small space of 144 ㎥. For proper management of the air quality, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system is required for the ventilation of the compartment. To maintain comfortable environment in the compartment, the automatic ventilation system is needed to exchange the indoor air with fresh air or clean indoor air. In this study, we investigated the indoor air quality (PM-10, CO₂, and VOCs) in the compartment of train. In addition, type and pattern of PM-10 has been analyzed through the clustering analysis. Based on the analysis, we could found that the fine particulate matters in the compartment can be a serious hazard to human. To control the concentration of PM-10 and CO₂ air cleaners were developed. Through this study, it is expected that people who take a train will be in a more comfortable environment.
