      • Online Learning, Digital Platform and Higher Education in Vietnam :A Comparative Analysis

        This paper examined the increasing demands of online education platform like MOOCs, the most famous open online courses, in the age of digital transformation in the context of developing countries. In case of Vietnam, the main case of this paper, the citizens’ desire for higher and technical education as well as disruptive innovation in information and communication technology pushed traditional colleges and education institutions to adjust to rapidly changing education market. Yet, the attempt has not been successful. What caused this supply and demand gap? Why are current measures inadequate to meet citizens’ need? Through the case study method with comparative reference to neighboring Southeast Asian countries, this paper argued that online education platform like MOOCs in Vietnam has not been successful mainly because of the lack of proper understanding of online education by traditional universities and systemic financial as well as legal support from the government. We argued that the removal of these obstacles will integrate the traditional and new online education and meet the growing demands of citizens.

        Synthesis of Fe₂O₃Polymorph Thin Films via a Pulsed Laser Deposition Technique

        The Fe₂O₃polymorph has diverse phase structures differing in physical properties, which need intensive studies. To investigate the possibility of stabilizing different Fe₂O₃ polymorphs, we synthesized Fe₂O₃ thin films on various substrates such as α-Al₂O₃(0001), MgO (001), and fused quartz, by using the pulsed laser deposition method. An analysis of the X-ray diffraction results provided the optimal conditions for the fabrication of a stable single phase on different substrates. The growth of particular single-phase polymorphous thin films depends greatly on the substrate's crystal structure. This opens up new directions in the synthesis and study of Fe₂O₃polymorphs by using physical methods.

        Synthesis of Epitaxial GaFeO3 Thin Films on Various Substrates

        Gallium ferrite (GaFeO3 or GFO) not only exhibits magnetoelectric coupling but also possesses other interesting electrical and magnetic properties of a multiferroic material. We report the fabrication of GFO thin films on various substrates such as -Al2O3 (0001), STO (111), and YSZ (001). All films present a (0l0) b-axis orientation perpendicular to the substrates. An analysis of the X-ray diffraction results showed a variety of domain structure and different strain states. Due to the magnetic anisotropy in GaFeO3, we expected these epitaxial films with different domain structures to display variants that were induced by change in the magnetization caused by an applied electric field. This study may promote potential applications in spintronics and multifunctional devices.

        The Levels of COVID-19 Related Health Literacy among University Students in Vietnam

        Background: Vietnam is among the few countries that were successful in the fight against the first wave of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, subsequent domestic outbreaks of COVID-19 continue to occur. To sharp the community education program to guarantee the final success in the fight against COVID-19 in Vietnam and comparable countries, we examined the levels of COVID-19 knowledge and associated predictors among university students in Vietnam. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on all students enrolling at Phenikaa University using a self-developed questionnaire consisted of 20 questions regarding COVID-19's risk factors, transmission routes, symptoms, and prevention. Results: Among 728 participants, 40.9% were male, 63.2% studied health-related majors, and 18.1% lived alone. Correct response rates ranged from 25.3% to 98.9% across 20 questions. Only 51.9% (378/728) of participants had good knowledge levels. Studying health majors (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 0.547, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.398 - 0.751, P <0.001), and living with the seniors (AOR 0.612, 95% CI 0.389 - 0.963, P = 0.034) or with friends (AOR 0.405, 95% CI 0.252 – 0.650, P <0.001) were negatively associated with a poor level of COVID-19 knowledge. Conclusion: The proportion of university students having good knowledge levels is suboptimal. It is essential to improve the quality of COVID-19 education with a more focus on not only the preventive measures, but also the disease itself. More studies are needed to improve the level of COVID-19 knowledge among those living alone or do not study healthrelated majors.

        A Statistical Data-Filtering Method Proposed for Short-Term Load Forecasting Models

        Reliability assessment of the SCADA-system based load data is necessary for improving accuracy of short-term load forecasting (STLF) methods in a distribution network (DN). Specifi cally, the reliability evaluation of the load data is to properly eliminate noise/outliers caused by random power consumption behaviors or the sudden change in load demand from industrial and residential customers in the DN. Thus, this paper proposes a novel statistical data-fi ltering method, working at an input data pre-processing stage, which will evaluate the reliability of input load data by analyzing all possible data confi dence levels in order to fi lter-out the noise/outliers for accuracy improvement of diff erent short-term load forecasting models. The proposed statistical data-fi ltering method is also compared to other existing data-fi ltering methods (such as Kalman Filter, Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA)). Moreover, several case studies of short-term load forecasting for a typical 22 kV distribution network in Vietnam are conducted with an Artifi cial Neural Network (ANN) model, a Long Short-Term Memory Recurrent Neural Network (LSTM-RNN) model, a combined model of Long Short-Term Memory Network and Convolutional Neural Network (LSTM-CNN), and a conventional Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model to validate the statistical data-fi ltering method proposed. The achieved results demonstrate which the STLF using ANN, LSTM-RNN, LSTMCNN, and ARIMA models with the statistical data-fi ltering method can all outperform those with the existing data-fi ltering methods. Additionally, the numerical results also indicate that in case the SCADA-based load data is normally distributed, time-series forecasting models should be more preferred than neural network models; otherwise, when the SCADA-based load data contains multiple normally distributed sub-datasets, neural network-based prediction models are highly recommended.

      • <i>In vitro</i> and <i>in vivo</i> acute response towards injectable thermosensitive chitosan/TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofiber hydrogel

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>TEMPO–oxidized cellulose nanofiber (TOCNF) is a natural material with many promising properties, including biocompatibility and degradability. In this study, we integrated TOCNF at different concentrations (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8% w/v) with chitosan (CS) and created a thermosensitive injectable hydrogel intended for biomedical applications. These hydrogels can undergo sol-gel transition at body temperature through interactions between chitosan and β-glycerophosphate. The addition of TOCNF resulted in faster gelation time and increased porosity. These hydrogels with TOCNF showed improved biocompatibility both <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> compared to CS hydrogel. Both MC3T3-E1 pre-osteoblast cells and L929 fibroblast cells showed biocompatibility towards CS/TOCNF 0.4. After 7days of implantation, initial inflammatory response to CS/TOCNF 0.4 was found. Such response was significantly subsided within 14days. Cell infiltration within the hydrogel was also prominent, showing anti-inflammatory or wound healing (M2) macrophage at 14days after implantation.         Stabilization of metastable ɛ-Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> thin films using a GaFeO<sub>3</sub> buffer

        <P>This paper reports a simple and robust route to stabilize metastable epsilon-Fe2O3 as an epitaxial thin film using a GaFeO3 (GFO) buffer in pulsed laser deposition. The use of an isostructural GFO buffer widens the range of film growth, allowing for stabilization on a range of substrates even with different surface symmetries, such as Al2O3 (0001), SrTiO3 (111), and Y:ZrO2 (100). All films grown on these substrates were c-axis oriented with the characteristic in-plane domain structures. Magnetization of these buffered thin films showed considerable magnetic anisotropy at 350 K. In particular, in-plane magnetization was found to be relatively larger in the films grown on the Y: ZrO2 (100) compared to the other cases. Heterostructuring epsilon-Fe2O3 on GFO is promising in the applications of epsilon-Fe2O3 for magnetic and multiferroic devices in that it provides a larger growth window and an effective means to optimize the film properties beyond the simple substitution of Fe with Ga.         Personality Traits, Perceived Risk, Uncertainty, and Investment Performance in Vietnam

        The study explored the impact of personality traits, perceived risk, and perceived uncertainty on investment performance of individual investors trading on the Vietnam stock market. The study conducted in-depth interviews, a pilot study, and a survey distributed to 430 individual investors. Results showed that Conscientiousness and perceived uncertainty directly affected investment performance. Openness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism indirectly influenced investment performance through the mediation of perceived uncertainty. This study suggested that individual investors should perceive uncertain situations when they invest in securities. Especially, investors who are prone to Openness, Extraversion, and Neuroticism must pay attention to uncertainty before they make investing decisions. Since Agreeableness did not affect investment performance, those who are dominant to this trait should have prudent considerations for equity investment decisions.

        In this paper we study the problem of real time support in wireless sensor networks and propose a Real time Geographic Routing Protocol (ReGeo) which routes a packet towards the destination based on a compromise between distance and queue count to reduce traffic concentration wherever it has been determined to be too high and uses Gradient Table to store the route satisfying the delay constraints. We describe our prototype implementation of ReGeo Routing in TOSSIM - a TinyOS mote simulator. The simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol not only increases the packet delivery ratio but also keeps overall End to End Delay under a bounded value.
