        Uniaxial Compression Properties and Compression Fatigue Performance of Selective Laser Melted Ti–6Al–4V Cellular Structure

        The selective laser melted (SLM) Ti–6Al–4V cellular solid is a promising material in biomedical and other applications. The mechanical properties of the SLM Ti–6Al–4V cellular material are predominantly controlled by the design of the cellular structure. The objective of this study was to investigate the uniaxial compressive properties and compressive fatigueperformance of the SLM Ti–6Al–4V cellular solid with a new cuboctahedron unit cell reinforced by four diagonal strutsand two horizontal struts along the X and Y axes. The infuences of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) on the various mechanicalproperties were also examined. The results showed a smoother stress–strain curve and fewer stress oscillations in the HIPspecimen than in the SLM specimen. The HIP process slightly decreased the yield strength of the SLM sample from 55 to52 MPa. Under uniaxial compressive stress, the SLM and HIP specimens exhibited layer-by-layer fracture and diagonalshear fracture, respectively. Furthermore, the HIP treatment signifcantly increased the fatigue performance and improved thefatigue endurance ratio at 106cycles from 0.15 to 0.35. The HIP treatment contributed to several positive efects, includingphase transformation from brittle α′ to α + β, the elimination of strut porosity and residual stress, an increase in lath size,and a better combination of strength and ductility, thereby improving the fatigue performance. The efects of stress mode onthe fracture mechanism were also clarifed using in situ observation in combination with digital image correlation.

      • Perfusion Computed Tomography in Predicting Treatment Response of Advanced Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinomas

        Background: The purpose of this study was to prospectively evaluate the predictive value of perfusion computed tomography (CT) for response of local advanced esophageal carcinoma to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: Before any treatment, forty-three local advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinomas were prospectively evaluated by perfusion scan with 16-row CT from June 2009 to January 2012. Perfusion parameters, including perfusion (BF), peak enhanced density (PED), blood volume (BV), and time to peak (TTP) were measured using Philips perfusion software. Seventeen cases received definitive radiotherapy and 26 received concurrent chemo-radiotherapy. The response was evaluated by CT scan and esophagography. Differences in perfusion parameters between responders and non-responders were analyzed, and ROCs were used to assess predictive value of the baseline parameters for treatment response. Results: There were 25 responders (R) and 18 non-responders (NR). Responders showed significantly higher BF (R:34.1 ml/100g/min vs NR: 25.0 ml/100g/min, p=0.001), BV (23.2 ml/100g vs 18.3 ml/100g, p=0.009) and PED (32.5 HU vs 28.32HU, P=0.003) than non-responders. But the baseline TTP (R: 38.2s vs NR: 44.10s, p=0.172) had no difference in the two groups. For baseline BF, a threshold of 36.1 ml/100g/min achieved a sensitivity of 56%, and a specificity of 94.4% for detection of clinical responders from non-responders. Conclusions: The results suggest that the perfusion CT can provide some helpful information for identifying tumors that may respond to radio-chemotherapy.

        Prediction of the Duration to Next Admission for an Acute Affective Episode in Patients with Bipolar I Disorder

        Objective: Predicting disease relapse and early intervention could reduce symptom severity. We attempted to identify potential indicators that predict the duration to next admission for an acute affective episode in patients with bipolar I disorder. Methods: We mathematically defined the duration to next psychiatric admission and performed single-variate regressions using historical data of 101 patients with bipolar I disorder to screen for potential variables for further multivariate regressions. Results: Age of onset, total psychiatric admissions, length of lithium use, and carbamazepine use during the psychiatric hospitalization contributed to the next psychiatric admission duration positively. The all-in-one found that hyperlipidemia during the psychiatric hospitalization demonstrated a negative contribution to the duration to next psychiatric admission; the last duration to psychiatric admission, lithium and carbamazepine uses during the psychiatric hospitalization, and heart rate on the discharge day positively contributed to the duration to next admission. Conclusion: We identified essential variables that may predict the duration of bipolar I patients’ next psychiatric admission. The correlation of a faster heartbeat and a normal lipid profile in delaying the next onset highlights the importance of managing these parameters when treating bipolar I disorder.

        중국의 전력소비와 경제성장의 인과관계 분석

        본 연구의 목적은 중국의 전력소비와 경제성장의 인과관계를 분석하고 그 방향을 확인하여 정책적 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기위해 1971년∼2008년 동안의 연간자료를 사용하여 단위근 검정, 공적분 검 정, 오차수정모형을 통한 Granger-인과검정을 하였다. 검정결과 중국의 전력소비와 경제 성장사이에는 장, 단기적 양 방향 인과성이 발견되었다. 이러한 결과는 중국의 정책분석가에게 몇 가지 유용한 시사점을 제공한다. 첫째: “경제가 발전하려면 전력이 선행해야 한다.”라는 중국의 발전전략이 지금도 유효하다. 즉 전력소비의 증가는 경제성장을 촉진 한다. 물론 경제성장에 미치는 다른 요인들이 존재하고 전력은 그 일부분이지만 경제성장을 하기위해서는 안정적인 전력공급이 필요하다. 둘째: 본 연구는 실질 GDP의 증가가 전력소비를 늘린다는 주장도 성립함을 확인하였다. 이는 직관적으로 소득이 늘어나면 보다 많은 전력을 필요로 하는 제품사용이나 수요가 증가할 것이다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the causality of electricity consumption and econmic growth and draw policy implications. To do this, we used Testing Prodedures of Unit Root and Cointegration and then VECM and Granger causality test using data taken from China over the period 1971 to 2008. As results, there are long and short term causalities between electricity consumption and economic growth of China. These results provide a few implications to policy analysts in China. First it is still available that the electricity comes before the economic development. The increase of electricity consumption promotes economic growth. Of course there are other factors to the economic growth, but the stable supply of electricity is necessary. Second, this paper confirms the assertion that the increase of GDP expands electric consumption is valid.

        준이상 수요체계(AIDS)를 이용한 한국의 커피수요분석

        본 연구는 한국의 커피수요를 추정하고 이를 바탕으로 커피수요의 가격탄력성, 소득탄력성, 교차탄력성을 살 펴보았다. 자료는 2003∼2012년까지의 통계청에서 제공하는 도시가계조사 마이크로 데이터를 이용하였고 LA/AIDS모 형과 SUR방법을 이용하여 커피수요를 추정하였다. 분석결과 커피의 자기가격탄력성과 소득탄력성은 각각 -0.259, 0.455추정되어 비탄력적으로 나타났고 소득 항 추정계수는 음(-)으로 나타나 필수재의 성격을 나타내고 있다. 이는 소 비자물가안정정책을 수립할 때 커피도 중요한 품목으로 고려할 필요성이 제기된다. 또한 커피와 담배사이의 교차탄력 성은 -0.121로 추정되어 보완관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고 가구주를 기준으로 남성이 여성보다 더 많이 소비하는 것 으로 나타났으며 연령별로는 50대가 가장 많이 소비하는 것으로 나타났다. This study is to estimate a demand of coffee in Korea. And based on assumed data, this study is to investigate price elasticity, income elasticity and cross-price elasticity of coffee demand. The data used in this study is the household income and expenditure survey micro data (2003~2012) provided by the National Statistical Office. And LA/AIDS model and SUR method were utilized in order to forecast coffee demand. As a result, price elasticity and income elasticity are found to be correspond with economic theory as they were assumed to -0.259, 0.455 respectively. Meanwhile, it indicated characteristic of essential good by showing negative (-) income odds ratio estimate. When it comes to cross-price elasticity of coffee and cigarette, it was found to be a complementary relation as its cross-price elasticity was assumed to -0.121. Besides, it was found that male consume more coffee than female, while people in their age of 50s consumes mostly. In conclusion, this study suggests necessity of reconsidering coffee as important goods when Consumer Price Stabilization Policy is determined, as coffee shows characteristic of essential goods which is inelastic.

        Effects of feed intake restriction during late pregnancy on the function, anti-oxidation capability and acute phase protein synthesis of ovine liver

        Objective: An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of feed intake restriction during late pregnancy on the function, anti-oxidation capability and acute phase protein synthesis of ovine liver. Methods: Eighteen time-mated ewes with singleton fetuses were allocated to three groups: restricted group 1 (RG1, 0.18 MJ ME/kg W0.75 d, n = 6), restricted group 2 (RG2, 0.33 MJ ME/kg W0.75 d), n = 6) and a control group (CG, ad libitum, 0.67 MJ ME/kg W0.75 d, n = 6). The feed restriction period was from 90 days to 140 days of pregnancy. Results: The ewe’s body weight, liver weights, water, and protein content of liver in the restricted groups were reduced compared with the CG group (p<0.05), but the liver fat contents in the RG1 group were higher than those of the CG group (p<0.05). The increased hepatic collagen fibers and reticular fibers were observed in the restricted groups with the reduction of energy intake. The concentrations of nonesterified free fatty acids in the RG1 and RG2 groups were higher than those of the CG group with the reduction of energy intake (p<0.05), but there were decreased concentrations of lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase in both restricted groups compared with the CG group (p<0.05). In addition, the increased concentrations of β-hydroxybutyric acid, triglycerides, malondialdehyde, total antioxidant capacity and activities of superoxide dismutase activity and catalase were found in the RG1 group, and the concentrations of cholinesterase in the RG1 group were reduced compared with the CG group (p<0.05). For the concentrations of acute phase proteins, the C-reactive protein (CRP) in the RG1 group were reduced compared with the CG group, but there were no differences in haptoglobin relative to the controls (p>0.05). Conclusion: The fat accumulation, increased hepatic fibrosis, antioxidant imbalance and modified synthesis of acute phase proteins were induced in ewe’s liver by maternal malnutrition during late pregnancy, which were detrimental for liver function to accommodate pregnancy.

      • Study on the Prediction of Real estate Price Index based on HHGA-RBF Neural Network Algorithm

        The traditional error of the back-propagation algorithm multilayer feed-forward network (BP neural network), there are the flaws of a slow convergence of forecast, getting local minimum solutions easily, and forecast accuracy rate is not high. This paper proposes a new approach which is the combination of hierarchical genetic algorithm and least squares method to optimize the RBF neural network such that we can predict the real estate price of the Real estate Price Index. And which overcomes the shortcomings of traditional Fourier analysis, has good localized characteristics in the time domain and frequency domain, and has important value. In signal processing, image processing, voice analysis and other fields. The hierarchical genetic algorithm is usually used to optimize the topology of the RBF neural network, the radial basis function center and width. Alternatively, the least squares method could play an important role in deciding the weights of the output layer. The experimental result shows that the feasibility of RBF neural network which could be optimized by the hybrid hierarchical genetic algorithm to predict real estate closing price, and the superiority of this approach in the aspect of prediction accuracy verified in comparing with the other two methods.
