Paragangliomas are rare tumors that arise from extra-adrenal chromaffine tissues and that secrete catecholamine. The abnormal secretion of catecholamine can cause cardiovascular complications such as severe hypertension, cardiomyopathy, cardiac arrhythmia, and aortic aneurysm rupture. In particular, the risk of mortality and morbidity increases if the patient has not been diagnosed or if the preparation for a possible hypertensive crisis has been insufficient. Moreover, it can lead to high risks of cardiovascular complications if the patient has a concomitant disorder such as aortic aneurysm. We report a case of preoperatively undiagnosed paraganglioma that caused a hypertensive crisis during the surgical removal of a retroperitoneal mass and the repair of an infra-renal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and left common iliac artery aneurysm.
Anthocyanins are the primary pigments in black, blue, and purple cereal grains. Recently, anthocyanins have been recognized as health-enhancing substances due to their antioxidant activity. Anthocyanin-pigmented barley grains can be a stable source of anthocyanins as well as β-glucan. Cloered barley as purple, blue and black barley consumptions are rapidlly growing presently due to their healthy functional food ingredients in Korea. Color barley cultivars accumulate purple pigments in the stem, awn, lemma, palea, and pericarp during seed maturation. The large consumption of barley in human foods is almost pearled products. Here we investigated composition of pearled barley and pearling by-products of korean colored barley varieties by degree of pearling. Barley grains from four hull-less colored barley varieties, Zasoojeongchal, Boseokchal Ganghochung and Huknarae were pearled to various degrees(5-50%). The composition (β -glucan, total phenol, proanthocyanidin and total anthocyanin) of pearled barley fractions flour and pearled barley grain was determined. β-glucan content was not changed seriously in pearled barley grain according to increasing pearling degree. Total phenol and proanthocyanidin content was decreased. β-glucan content was increased in pearling by-products according to increasing pearling degree and total phenol and proanthocyanidin content was decreased. Total anthocyanin content also was decreased in pearled barley fractions flour by the degree of pearling.
Recently, barley is gaining renewed interest for food due to nutritional and functional characteristics. and many breeder developed new barley varieties containing nutritional and functional components. Anthocyanin have been well characterized for its bioactive properties, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory properties. Some colored varieties with purple lemma that is a kind of anthocyanin were developed. We have to find out the harvesting time containing maximum anthocyanin content. In this study, we analyzed anthocyanin content at intervals of 4-6days after heading date. We analyzed Delphinidin-3-glucoside(Del3g), Cyanidin-3-glucoside (Cya3g), Pelargonidin-3-glucoside(Pel3g), Peonidin(Peo3g), Malvidin-3-glucoside(Mal3g) using the HPLC with Xterra C18 column and UV Detector. Anthocyanin was extracted with 80% MeOH solution containing 1% HCl for 24hr. Mobil phase composition of HPLC was 45% Acetonitrile solution with 10% Formic acid. Anthocyanin content was increased rapidly from 30day after heading date to 35day. At 35-37day, anthocyanin content was maximum. Thereafter, it was decreased rapidly to 40day.
Almost of Korean has used the barley mixing with rice and there are many barley brands have been sold in Korea. In this study, we investigated protein, -glucan content, waxy β ratio, cooking property and whiteness of 107 Korean barley products. The protein, β-glucan content and whiteness of waxy barley(7.17-12.57%, 2.81-7.38%, 27.1-49.6) were higher than non-waxy barley products(6.62-11.38%, 2.44-6.95%, 29.0-44.4). Waxy barley had a better cooking properties than non-waxy barley products. Water absorption and expansion of waxy barley(218-593%, 366-593%) were higher than non-waxy barley(135-284%, 227-457%). These properties and components were significantly different with producing area. Protein showed positive correlation with β-glucan in non-waxy and waxy barley(r=0.632***, r=0.453**). Whiteness showed negative correlation with protein content in non-waxy barley and waxy barley(r=-0.433***, r=-0.343**). Waxy ratio of 49 waxy barley brands was ranged from 84.4% to 100%. Average was 96.7%.
IBecause they spent middle lives working heavily without adequate income and culture social activities, nearby small cities with social supports and policy considerations are affordable and satisfiable places. In addition to positive and hopeful mobility, many mobility is an inevitable final choice. Several episodes help illustrate interactions across ecological layers of the aging context: individual health and functional limitations, individual beliefs and attitudes, the physical environment of the home, and social pressures. n this study, a series of qualitative analysis was taken from 12 open-ended interviews conducted in 2006 and 2009 with older men, women, and couples aged 55 or more who moved to a smaller residence such as a single house or condominium in small cities of higher elderly population, located in rural counties of the United States and Canada within the past year. First of all, senior concentrating small cities along rural counties are final destination of retiring people who have been working on labor-intensified farms and mechanical shops in rural communities. Regarding future of Korean rural elderly policies, productive and active early old stage lifestyles need to be maintained by limiting expansion of dependent level facilities around the moved in new class of independent old rural residents.
