Facile Preparation of Ag2S-CNT Nanocomposites with Enhanced Photo-catalytic Activity
Ze-Da Meng,Sourav Sarkar,Lei Zhu,Kefayat Ullah,Shu Ye,오원춘 한국세라믹학회 2014 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.51 No.1
Here we report improved photo-catalytic effect of Ag2S under visible light using carbon nano-tubes (CNT) modified with Ag2Snanoparticles. The optical properties, structural properties and compositional analysis, as well as the photo-electrochemical propertiesof the prepared composites were investigated. It was found that the photocurrent density, and the photo-catalytic effect, was increased by modification of CNT in this way. Compared with the separate effects of Ag2S and CNT nanoparticles, the photocatalyticeffect of CNT-modified-with-Ag2S composites, increased significantly due to a synergistic effect between the CNT and theAg2S nanoparticles.
Fabrication of Hybrid NiO/ACF/TiO_2 Composites and Their Photocatalytic Activity Under Visible Light
Ze-Da Meng,한상범,김두환,박종연,오원춘 한국세라믹학회 2011 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.48 No.3
Nickel oxide-doped ACF and TiO_2 composites (NiO/ACF/TiO_2) were prepared by a sol-gel method. The composite obtained was characterized by BET surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. A methylene blue (MB) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine their hotocatalytic activity. Excellent photocatalytic degradation of the MB solution was observed using the TiO_2, Ti-ACF and NiO/ACF/TiO_2 composite under visible light.

Activity carbon (AC), Cu and Cu_2O modified TiO_2 composites (Cu/Cu_2O-AC/TiO_2) were prepared using a sol-gel method. The characteristics of the composites were evaluated using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. A methyl orange (MO) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity. The degradation of MO was determined using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. Cu_2O, Cu and the cooperative effect of the AC increased the photo-bsorption effect, thus increasing in photocatalytic activity.

ACF and $WO_3$ modified $TiO_2$ composites (ACF/$WO_3$/$TiO_2$) were prepared using a sol-gel method. The composites were characterized by Brunauer.Emmett.Teller (BET) surface area measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. A methyl orange (MO) solution under visible light irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity. The degradation of the MO was determined using UV/Vis spectrophotometry. An increase in photocatalytic activity was observed and attributed to an increase of the photo-absorption effect by the $WO_3$ and the cooperative effect of the ACF.

ZnS and ZnS/TiO2 were prepared by chemical deposition. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Thegeneration of reactive oxygen species was detected by monitoring the oxidation reaction from 1,5-diphenyl carbazide (DPCI) to1,5-diphenyl carbazone (DPCO). Excellent catalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution was observed using the ZnS/TiO2composites during irradiation with visible light. The results show that the photocatalytic performance of TiO2 nanoparticles isimproved by loading with ZnS.

SnS-$TiO_2$ nanocomposites are synthesized using simple, cheap, and less toxic $SnCl_2$ as the tin (II) precursor. The prepared nanoparticles are characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). The XRD and TEM results indicate that the prepared product has SnS nanoparticles and a grain diameter of 30 nm. The DRS demonstrate that SnS-$TiO_2$ possesses the absorption profile across the entire visible light region. The generation of reactive oxygen species is detected through the oxidation reaction from 1,5-diphenyl carbazide (DPCI) to 1,5-diphenyl carbazone (DPCO). It is found that the photocurrent density and photocatalytic effect increase with the modified SnS. Excellent catalytic degradation of Texbrite BA-L (TBA) solution is observed using the SnS-$TiO_2$ composites under visible light irradiation. It is proposed that both the strong visible light absorption and the multiple exciton excitations contribute to the high visible light photocatalytic activity.
