The secretion efficiency of a protein in a Sec-type secretion system is mainly determined by an N-terminal signal peptide and its combination with its cognate protein. Five signal peptides, namely, two synthetic Sec-type and three Bacillus licheniformis alpha-amylase-derived signal peptides, were compared for periplasmic expression of the human growth hormone (hGH) in E. coli. Based on in silico predictions on the signal peptides’ cleavage efficiencies and their corresponding mRNA secondary structures, a number of amino acid substitutions and silent mutations were considered in the modified signal sequences. The two synthetic signal peptides, specifically designed for hGH secretion in E. coli, differ in their N-terminal positively charged residues and hydrophobic region lengths. According to the mRNA secondary structure predictions, combinations of the protein and each of the five signal sequences could lead to different outcomes, especially when accessibility of the initiator ATG and ribosome binding sites were considered. In the experimental stage, the two synthetic signal peptides displayed complete processing and resulted in efficient secretion of the mature hGH in periplasmic regions, as was demonstrated by protein analysis. The three alpha-amylase-derived signal peptides, however, were processed partially from their precursors. Therefore, to achieve efficient secretion of a protein in a heterologous system, designing a specific signal peptide by using a combined approach of optimizations of the mRNA secondary structure and the signal peptide H-domain and cleavage site is recommended.
Effects of imperfection shapes on buckling of conical shells under compression
Meisam Shakouri,Andrea Spagnoli,M.A. Kouchakzadeh 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.60 No.3
This paper describes a systematic numerical investigation into the nonlinear elastic behavior of conical shells, with various types of initial imperfections, subject to a uniformly distributed axial compression. Three different patterns of imperfections, including first axisymmetric linear bifurcation mode, first non-axisymmetric linear bifurcation mode, and weld depression are studied using geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis. Effects of each imperfection shape and tapering angle on imperfection sensitivity curves are investigated and the lower bound curve is determined. Finally, an empirical lower bound relation is proposed for hand calculation in the buckling design of conical shells.

A novel ternary nanocomposite of nickel-manganese oxides/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (NMO/MWCNTs) coated with poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT) was prepared by chemical oxidation method. The filling of NMO particles inside MWCNTs and the uniform coating of NMO/MWCNTs with PEDOT intensified the capacitive behavior of MWCNTs. The lowest IR drop (0.1 V) and highest specific capacitance (SC) values of 526.55 F/g of NMO/MWCNTs/PEDOT imply it as highly efficient hybrid supercapacitor materials in 6 M KOH electrolyte.

The present paper investigates analytically and numerically the magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) mixed convection flow of nanofluidover a nonlinear stretching inclined transparent plate embedded in a porous medium under the solar radiation. The two-dimensional governingequations are obtained considering the dominant effect of boundary layer and also in presence of the effects of viscous dissipationand variable magnetic field. These equations are transformed by the similarity transformation to two coupled nonlinear transformed equationsand then solved using a numerical implicit method called Keller-Box. The effect of various parameters such as nanofluid volumefraction, magnetic parameter, porosity, effective extinction coefficient of porous medium, solar radiation flux, plate inclination angle, diameter of porous medium solid particles and dimensionless Eckert, Richardson and Prandtl numbers have been studied on the dimensionlesstemperature and velocity profiles. Also the results are presented based on Nusselt number and Skin friction coefficient.

Electrode materials are the most important factors to verify the properties of the electrochemical supercapacitor. In this paper, the storage principles and characteristics of electrode materials, including carbon-based materials, transition metal oxides and conducting polymers for supercapacitors are depicted in detail. Other factors such as electrode separator and electrolyte are briefly investigated. Recently, several works are conducted on application of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and MWCNTs-based electrode materials for supercapacitors. MWCNTs serve in experimental supercapacitor electrode materials result in specific capacitance (SC) value as high as 135 Fg-1. Addition of pseudocapacitive materials such as transition metal oxides and conducting polymers in the MWCNTs results in electrochemical performance improvement (higher capacitance and conductivity). The nanocomposites of MWCNTs and pseudocapacitive materials are the most promising electrode materials for supercapacitors because of their good electrical conductivity, low cost and high mass density.
3D Trajectory Tracking Control for a Thrust-Propelled Vehicle with Time-varying Disturbances
Meisam Kabiri,Hajar Atrianfar,Mohammad Bagher Menhaj 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.8
This paper discusses trajectory tracking for a class of under-actuated thrust-propelled vehicle in thepresence of two time-varying disturbances. A saturated estimator based on equivalent output injection slidingmode disturbance observer is employed to accommodate for the adverse effect of the translational disturbance. Tohandle the rotational disturbance, we make use of a sliding mode controller. The stability of the overall systemis investigated by means of Lyapunov function theory. A numerical simulation is included in the paper to showeffectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Meisam Shabanian,Mehdi Khoobi,Farideh Hemati,Hossein Ali Khonakdar,Seyed esmaeil Sadat ebrahimi,Udo Wagenknecht,Abbas Shafiee 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.24 No.-
In this work, Fe3O4 nanoparticles were functionalized with hyperbranched polyethylenimine (PEI). The neat Fe3O4 nanoparticles (MNP) and functionalized Fe3O4 (MNP@PEI) were separately incorporated into a polylactic acid (PLA). Compared to the neat MNP, the functionalized nanoparticles (MNP@PEI) had better dispersion in the PLA matrix. The properties of the nanocomposites were strongly related to the dispersion and interaction between the nanoparticles and PLA matrix. The heat barrier effect and high nitrogen content of the MNP@PEI nanoparticles were found to be responsible for the improvement of the thermal and flame resistance properties.

The dynamic nature of Botnets along with their sophisticated characteristics makes them one of the biggest threats to cyber security. Recently, the HTTP protocol is widely used by Botmaster as they can easily hide their command and control traffic amongst the benign web traffic. This paper proposes a Neural Network based model to detect mobile HTTP Botnets with random intervals independent of the packet payload, commands content, and encryption complexity of Bot communications. The experimental test results that were conducted on existing datasets and real world Bot samples show that the proposed method is able to detect mobile HTTP Botnets with high accuracy.

It is exceptionally difficult to have productive farming without the use of herbicides. It has been found that they create difficulties in the growth and biological nitrogen fixation of some legume crops after their application. Adverse impacts may result from a direct effect of the herbicide on rhizobial growth and/or an indirect effect on plant growth. In order to study the effect of some PRE and POST herbicides on nodulation, nitrogen fixation, and growth characteristics of three chickpea cultivars, a greenhouse trial was conducted in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement and three replications. Pyridate, imazethapyr, and trifluralin were applied with the recommended rates of 1100, 100, and 720 g ai ha-1, respectively, and also non-treated control on three chickpea cultivars (ILS482, Hashem, and Kaka). The results showed that trifluralin and pyridate herbicides had the highest and the least negative impact on growth characteristics of three examined cultivars. Pyridate showed a positive effect on vegetative characteristics but nodulation and total nitrogen contents in the shoots of chickpea cultivars decreased significantly. Results also revealed that root and shoot growth, nodulation, and nitrogen fixation diminished significantly when imazethapyr and trifluralin were applied to Hashem and ILC482 cultivars. It seems that pyridate is an appropriate herbicide for broadleaf weed control in chickpea fields.
