Max Weber의 社會學에 있어서의 合理性 : 宗敎社會學을 中心으로
李東仁 충남대학교 인문과학연구소 1981 인문학연구 Vol.8 No.2
The concept of rationality in the Weberian sociology is noted for its significance and ambiguity. Confucianism and the ascetic Protestantism are the most suitable cases for observing the polymorphous nature of the concept. Through an investigation of the practical, theoretical and ethical rationality of both religions, we find that things very much different and even contradictory are contained in the same concept of rationality. Included in this concept are abnegation of the world and its opposite and condemnation of human nature and its opposite. It confirms us the Weberian axiom that rationalism may mean very different things and leads us to the conclusion, in agreement with Professor Dong Hwan Park, that the concept of rationality cannot be used as a criterion for the comparative sociology.
From Broken Visions to Expanded Abstractions
Max Hattler 한국만화애니메이션학회 2017 만화애니메이션연구 Vol.- No.49
In recent years, film and animation for cinematic release have embraced stereoscopic vision and the three-dimensional depth it creates for the viewer. The maturation of consumer-level virtual reality (VR) technology simultaneously spurred a wave of media productions set within 3D space, ranging from computer games to pornographic videos, to Academy Award-nominated animated VR short film Pearl. All of these works rely on stereoscopic fusion through stereopsis, that is, the perception of depth produced by the brain from left and right images with the amount of binocular parallax that corresponds to our eyes. They aim to emulate normal human vision. Within more experimental practices however, a fully rendered 3D space might not always be desirable. In my own abstract animation work, I tend to favour 2D flatness and the relative obfuscation of spatial relations it affords, as this underlines the visual abstraction I am pursuing. Not being able to immediately understand what is in front and what is behind can strengthen the desired effects. In 2015, Jeffrey Shaw challenged me to create a stereoscopic work for Animamix Biennale 2015-16, which he co-curated. This prompted me to question how stereoscopy, rather than hyper-defining space within three dimensions, might itself be used to achieve a confusion of spatial perception. And in turn, how abstract and experimental moving image practices can benefit from stereoscopy to open up new visual and narrative opportunities, if used in ways that break with, or go beyond stereoscopic fusion. Noteworthy works which exemplify a range of non-traditional, expanded approaches to binocular vision will be discussed below, followed by a brief introduction of the stereoscopic animation loop III=III which I created for Animamix Biennale. The techniques employed in these works might serve as a toolkit for artists interested in exploring a more experimental, expanded engagement with stereoscopy.

Purpose: To determine the accuracy of knee examination under anesthesia (EUA) and develop a prognostic score for partial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. Materials and Methods: A total of 229 patients with an ACL injury were included. Knee EUA was performed using the Lachman test, pivot shift test and arthrometric maximum manual side-to-side difference (AMMD) test. The arthroscopic examination is the gold standard for the diagnosis of partial and complete ACL tears, which was compared with EUA findings. Multivariate logistic regression was estimated, and the significant variables were used to develop a predictive score. Results: The relative risk for a complete tear with Lachman 2+ was 8.55 (range, 3.5 to 20.7) and 53.04 (range, 6.7 to 417) with Lachman 3+, compared to Lachman 1+. Negative pivot shift was reported in 23 cases in the partial tear group (76.7%) and in 22 in the complete tear group (11.1%). The AMMD was 3.5 mm in the partial tear group and 5.4 mm in the complete tear group (p<0.05). A prognostic score of less than five suggested the presence of a partial ACL tear. The score showed 81.1% sensitivity and 68.7% specificity. Conclusions: Partial ACL tears can be differentiated from complete tears with Lachman test, pivot shift test, and AMMD test.
L’identité spirituelle du point de vente : le cas des magasins bios et des magasins monastiques
Max Poulain 고려대학교 응용문화연구소 2017 에피스테메 Vol.0 No.18
The development of products or services, directly or indirectly linked to the spiritualist sphere, has increased significantly over the last ten years. This movement has been widely anticipated in the United States. The theme of spirituality has been so far the subject of a limited number of research publications in marketing and consumer behavior, particularly in France. The purpose of this research is to understand the context and explain the spirituality structure which is far from consumption matters. At the end of this first stage it will be possible to apprehend these new territories of spirituality that concern products or services and the associated expectations.
Korean Economic Integration: Prospects and Pitfalls
MAX ST. BROWN,김형석,SEUNG MO CHOI 한국국제경제학회 2012 International Economic Journal Vol.26 No.3
Using a growth model of productivity catch-up estimated from the 1990 German reunification, we study the economic impacts of a hypothetical economic integration between South Korea and North Korea on macro aggregates. By considering a range of scenarios, we analyze the impacts of labor migration and capital transfer policies.
