Adsorption of vanadium(V) from acidic solutions was investigated by using octylamine functionalizedmagnetite nanoparticles as a novel adsorbent of vanadium. Batch experiments were conducted to determine the effectsof initial pH, nanoparticles to octylamine weight ratio, amount of adsorbent, stirring time and initial vanadium(V) con-centration in aqueous solution on adsorption efficiency. The adsorption was highly pH dependent, and the optimal pHwas 3.2. The weight ratio of magnetite nanoparticles to octylamine was studied in optimum pH, and the best resultwas 3 : 2. More than 88% of vanadium(V) in solution was removed by 38.4 mg of adsorbent. In kinetics studies, theadsorption equilibrium could be achieved within 10 minutes, and the experimental data were well fitted by the pseudo-second-order model. Comparison of Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models indicated a better fit of Langmuir modelto the adsorption of vanadium(V) and the mono-layer adsorption capacity for vanadium(V) was 25.707 mg g−1.

Theoretical Study of the Resveratrol Adsorption on B12N12 and Mg-Decoration B12N12 Fullerenes
Sheikhi Masoome,Azarakhshi Fatemeh,Tafreshi Elnaz Sarabadani,Kaviani Sadegh,Shahab Siyamak,Ahmadianarog Mahin 대한화학회 2021 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.42 No.6
The adsorption of Resveratrol (RSV) drug on surfaces of the pure B12N12 and Mg-decoration B12N12 fullerenes at physiological PH was studied using density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory methods at the B3PW91/6-31+G* level at T = 298.15 K and 1 atm in the solvent (water) with a dielectric constant of 78.4. The adsorption energy (Eads) of RSV on two fullerenes have investigated through hydroxyl (-OH) groups. The adsorption effect of the RSV on the bond lengths, electronic properties, UV spectra, and excited states of B12N12 and Mg-B12N12 is detected. Natural bond orbital analysis shows a charge transfer between the RSV and two fullerenes. The electron location function (ELF) and localized orbital locator (LOL) values show that interaction between reactive atoms of RSV (O atoms) and B atom of B12N12 are an electrostatic and partially covalent character. The study interaction of RSV with the B12N12 and Mg-decoration B12N12 can be used in the field of drug delivery and adsorption on metal surfaces.
Generalized gamma variables with drought application

Gamma distributions are some of the most popular models for hydrological processes. Motivated by drought applications, wederive the exact distributions of the productX1X2 and the quotientX1/X2 when X1 and X2 are independent generalized gammarandom variables. An application of the results is provided to drought data from Nebraska.

Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations were performed in the solvent water for the study of the adsorption of the Ribavirin (RIB) on surfaces of the carbon nanotube (CNT) and graphene nanosheet (GNS). After the adsorption, the electronic properties of the CNT and GNS change. The adsorption energies are shown the strong adsorption in GNS/RIB (0.816 eV) rather than CNT/RIB (0.544 eV). The dipole moment of CNT and GNS changes with the adsorption of the RIB from 0.00 to 4.57 and 7.05 Debye in CNT/RIB and GNS/RIB, respectively. The adsorption of the RIB molecule on CNT and GNS increases the value of λmax. The localized orbital locator and electron location function values for the C C bond confirm the stronger interaction between carbon atoms of GNS and RIB. Based on the results, it is suggested that GNS with a lower energy gap (3.03 eV) is a more suitable structure for adsorption of the RIB in comparison with the CNT (3.021).

Background: Spasticity is a common motor disorder in adult stroke patients. Injury to the corticospinal tract (CST) is associated with spasticity. Dry needling (DN) has positive impacts on spasticity reduction and improvement in the range of motion (ROM) in stroke patients. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of DN on the connectivity of the CST and the level of spasticity in adult stroke patients. Methods: This double-blind randomized controlled trial will enroll and randomly assign stroke patients to either the experimental group, for receiving three sessions of DN for the spastic wrist flexors, or the control group, for sham needling. The primary outcome measures will be diffusion tensor imaging and the Modified Modified Ashworth Scale score to assess CST connectivity and wrist flexor spasticity, respectively. The Box and Block Test and standard goniometry are the secondary outcome measures to assess hand dexterity and active and passive wrist ROM, respectively. Measurements will be taken both before and after the intervention. Discussion: The results of this study will provide important evidence of the effects of DN on CST connectivity, spasticity, and arm function in adult stroke patients.
