Some Properties of the Closure Operator of a Pi-space
Mao, Hua,Liu, Sanyang Department of Mathematics 2011 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.51 No.3
In this paper, we generalize the definition of a closure operator for a finite matroid to a pi-space and obtain the corresponding closure axioms. Then we discuss some properties of pi-spaces using the closure axioms and prove the non-existence for the dual of a pi-space. We also present some results on the automorphism group of a pi-space.
ACCURACY OF LAMOST DR1 STELLAR PARAMETERS

We adopt the PASTEL catalog combined with SIMBAD radial velocities as a testing standard to validate the stellar parameters (effective temperature $T_{eff}$, surface gravity log g, metallicity [Fe/H] and radial velocity $V_r$) from the first data release (DR1) of The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) survey. After applying data reduction and temperature constraints to the sample obtained by cross-identification, we compare the stellar parameters from DR1 and PASTEL. The results show that the DR1 results are reliable under certain conditions. We derive a dispersion of 110 K, 0.19 dex, 0.11 dex and $4.91kms^{-1}$ in specified effective temperature ranges, for $T_{eff}$, log g, [Fe/H] and $V_r$ respectively. Systematic errors are negligible except for those of $V_r$. In addition, for stars with PASTEL [Fe/H] < -1:5, the metallicities in DR1 are systematically higher than those in PASTEL.
Aminoethoxyvinylglycine 처리시기가 복숭아 ‘장택백봉’의 유통 중 품질에 미치는 영향

This research aimed to investigate the effect of preharvest spray of aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) on fruit quality of ‘Nagasawa Hakuho’ peach (Prunus persica Batsch). The efficacy of various concentrations of AVG (75 and 150 ㎎/L), which inhibits the ethylene biosynthesis, was evaluated under field conditions. Treatments were performed 21, 14 and 7 days before harvest, respectively. Fruit weight, flesh firmness, soluble solids content, acidity, ethylene production, respiration rate and skin color difference were determined at harvest time and during shelf-life at 25℃. Results indicated that the most appropriate timing of AVG spraying was 21 days before harvest at the concentration of 75 mg/L as shown higher firmness at harvest time and lower ethylene production and respiration rate during shelf-life. Spraying of AVG during near harvest period (14 to 7 days before harvest) inhibited fruit growth slightly, independent of concentration and did not affect fruit quality in ‘Nagasawa Hakuho’ peach.

Background: Prior studies examining the relation between diabetes mellitus (DM) and prostate cancer risk have reported controversial findings. We examined this association by conducting a detailed meta-analysis of the peer-reviewed literature. Methods: A comprehensive search for articles of MEDLINE and EMBASE databases and bibliographies of retrieved articles published up to November, 2012 was performed. Methodological quality assessment of the trials was based on the Newcastle-Ottawa Scaleq and the meta-analysis was performed using STATA 12.0. Dose-response regression was conducted with SPSS 19.0. Results: We included 29 studies in the meta-analysis (13 case-control studies, 16 cohort studies), and found an inverse association between DM and prostate cancer (relative risk (RR) 0.84, 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.78-0.91). An inverse association was also observed in non-Asian populations (RR 0.81, 95% CI 0.76-0.87) and population-based studies (RR 0.80, 95% CI 0.77-0.91). No statistical significance was found of the association between prostate cancer risk and the duration of DM (p=0.338), and risk seemed not related with the age of DM diagnosis. Conclusions: This study suggested an inverse relationship between DM and prostate cancer, but without links to duration of disease or age of diagnosis.
