Mesoporous glass beads and 5 mm silica particles were modified with beta-cyclodextrin ( b-CD) by means of directly bonding, linking spacer group, and cross-linking agent. The selectivities of the b-CD modified silica particles were measured by simple column chromatography to separate a model mixture of 1- and 2-hydroxy-naphthalene (naphthols) and ortho, meta, and para-xylene. In the packed column chromatography experiments, two major controlling factors (inclusion complex formation effect and steric hindrance effect of the analytes) on the separations were observed. The elusion orders of the b-CD directly bonded glass beads were meta-, para-, ortho-xylene and 1-naphthol, 2-naphthol. The phenomena of b-CD pore blocking and narrowing by spacer groups and cross-linking agent were observed. The spacer group and cross-linking agent decreased inclusion complex formation of 2-naphthol.

A Study on Direct Loading of Beta-Cyclodextrins on Glass Beads as Chromatographic Separators

Bata-cyclodextrin(β-CD) was successfully loaded on the surface of glass beads without spacer group or cross-linking agent. The directly loaded β-CD was stable in toluene and methanol flows but critically hurt in more polar solvent such as water and dimethylformamide. Cross-linking could stabilize the directly bonded β-CD glass beads. Pore openings of cyclodextrin can be narrowed or blocked by end-capping agent, spacer groups, and cross-linking agents. The β-CD directly bonded glass beads have a capability to form inclusion complexes with larger host molecules because this method can avoid pore narrowing and blocking problems.

The air quality inside the cabin of an automobile is closely related to the health of those who spend a lot of time in their vehicles. Automotive indoor air quality can be improved in several ways; the most common and effective of which was to dilute the polluted air with fresh air through the vehicle"s HVAC. In this study, we considered switching between the outside air mode and the recirculation mode of the automotive HVAC, and how that change affected the concentration of pollution within the vehicle. The possible range between the outside air mode and the recirculation mode of the vehicle"s HVAC obtained by this experiment was applied to the CFD analysis. Furthermore, the actual vehicles were infused with gas over time and were compared for the purposes of feasibility review of numerical simulation and concentration trends of experimental data. In the CFD analysis, UDF(user defined function) was applied to our code in order to decipher the range of outside air and recirculation mode of the HVAC. Data generated through the full range between outside air and recirculation mode of the vehicle"s HVAC were analyzed under a variety of conditions which allowed the identification of characteristics which changed indoor air quality source concentration.
The Ramp-Rate Constraint Effects on the Generators' Equilibrium Strategy in Electricity Markets

In this paper, we investigate how generators' ramp-rate constraints may influence their equilibrium strategy formulation. In the market model proposed in this study, the generators' ramp-rate constraints are explicitly represented. In order to fully characterize the inter-temporal nature of the ramp-rate constraints, a dynamic game model is presented. The subgame perfect Nash equilibrium is adopted as the solution of the game and the backward induction procedure for the solution of the game is designed in this paper. The inter-temporal nature of the ramp-rate constraints results in the Markov property of the game, and we have found that the Markov property of the game significantly simplifies the subgame perfect Nash equilibrium characterization. Finally, a simple electricity market numerical illustration is presented for the successful application of the approach proposed.
A Linearized Transmission Model Based Market Equilibrium In Locational Pricing Environments

In this paper, we have investigated how transmission network constraints can be modeled in an electricity market equilibrium model. Under Cournot competition assumption, a game model is set up considering transmission line capacity constraints. Based on locational marginal pricing principle, market clearing is formulated as a total consumers' benefit maximization problem, and then converted to a conventional optimal power flow (OPF) formulation with a linearized transmission model. Using market clearing formulation, best response analysis is formulated and, finally, Nash equilibrium is formulated. In order for illustration, a numerical study for a four node system with two generating firms and two loads are presented.
A Low-Cost and Low-Power Time-to-Digital Converter Using Triple-Slope Time Stretching

<P>In this brief, we present a time-to-digital converter (TDC) in which a single interpolator is used to improve the resolution by time stretching. The interpolator is based on a triple-slope conversion. Without slowing down the measured event, this approach extensively reduces the chip area and the corresponding power consumption, as compared with the prior arts with two parallel time interpolators. A prototype was designed and fabricated in a 0.35- μm CMOS digital process, and its core area merely occupies 0.126 mm<SUP>2</SUP>. Measurements show that our TDC achieves a resolution of 357 ps while consuming 1.22 mW with a 2.5-V supply. The dynamic range of the TDC exceeds 1.46 μs. The measurement rate can achieve above 400 kS/s.</P>

The Truck suspension is one of the most important part to decide the durability performance of the commercial vehicle. Since the spring Hanger, a core component for rigid axle supension, directly supports leaf spring, it needs strength and durability. In this paper, X/Y/Z directional durability test was carried out and test objective was the 5 ton truck. The durability test has been conducted under a driving condition of X/Y/Z force mode by usieng hydraulic actuator for spring hanger for commercial vehicle. We"ve also carried out srtuctural analysis by utilizing ANSYSin order to predict for spring hanger durability.
소프트웨어 복잡도 감소를 위한 노드 기반 FlexRay 스케줄링 기법 개발

As vehicles become intelligent for convenience and safety of drivers, in-vehicle networking (IVN) systems are essential components of intelligent vehicles. Recently, the chassis networking system which require increased network capacity and real-time capability is being developed to expand the application area of IVN systems. Also, FlexRay has been developed for the chassis networking system. However, FlexRay needs a complex scheduling method of static segment, which is a barrier for implementing the chassis networking system. Especially, if we want to migrate from CAN network to FlexRay network using CAN message database that was well constructed for the chassis networking system by automotive vendors, a novel scheduling method is necessary to be able to reduce design complexity. This paper presents a node-based scheduling method for the static segment, to reduce the software complexity in FlexRay network systems. To demonstrate the feasibility of the technique, its performance is evaluated in terms of various software complexity index.
