        Luxury fashion brands at the gates of the Web 3.0: An analysis of early experimentations with NFTs and the metaverse

        Luxury fashion brands have been pioneers in experimenting with NFTs and the metaverse. Though, the analysis of the success of these forerunning initiatives to date still pertains to anecdotal literature. Drawing upon a mixed-method convergent multiple- case-study design involving four cases, this study investigates how pivotal marketplace actors – namely, journalists and consumers – perceived these early experimentations and the extent to which these new technologies can support luxury fashion brands in further conveying their traditional luxury values. Findings suggest that luxury fashion brands should exploit these technologies to reinforce the perception of scarcity, accelerate the “artification” process, and innovatively convey their ancestral heritage. Nevertheless, when leveraging Web 3.0 technologies, luxury fashion brands must be particularly cautious about the risks of conveying their distinctive aesthetics ineffectively and offering experiences that do not align with the highly experiential nature of luxury.

      • 자동차 럼버서포트용 모터의 토크향상을 위한 전자기해석

        자동차 부품의 개발 방향은 경량화에 맞춰 연구개발이 진행되고 있음. 이에 발맞춰 럼버서포트에 사용되는 모터를 전자기해석을 통해 토크를 향상시키는 방법을 연구하여 같은 토크에 무게가 가벼운 모터를 설계하고자 함. 여기서 설계 변수는 자석의 배열/크기/패턴, 요크의 형상/개수, 전선의 두께/턴 수로 총7개의 변수를 조정하여 설계를 수행함. 위 fig1과 같이 Mesh를 구성하였고, Mesh의 Segment Setting을 컴팩트하게 설계하면 해석 시간이 크게 단축됨. 회전자, 고정자 사이에 Airgap에 대한 Mesh 설정이 아주 중요함. 회전이 되면서 Segment간 연결이 원활하게 되어야 자속의 흐름이 모터 토크에 큰 영향을 주기 때문임. 또 Mesh 설계를 Log Scale로 설정하면 한 개체의 Segment의 수만큼 일정하거나 비슷한 크기의 Mesh가 설계되는 것이 아니라 Log Scale로 설계 시, 한 개체와 다른 개체 사이에 접촉되어 있는 부분은 Mesh 크기가 작고 Segment가 많도록 구성을 하게됨. 전기 코일, 영구자석, 자성체, Band에 특히 Mesh 설정에 따라 손실 계산에 영향이 큼. 위와 같은 설정으로 전자기해석을 수행하면 아래 fig2와 같은 자기장 분포와 밀도를 확인할 수 있음. 위 fig2는 (왼)자기장 분포, (오른)자기장 밀도의 해석 결과를 확인하였음. 자기장 분포 및 방향 결과에서 화살의 방향은 자기장의 방향, 화살의 크기는 자기장의 세기를 의미함. 자기장 밀도 결과에서 양측의 붉은 색을 띄는 부분이 자기장의 밀도가 높은 부분이며, 토크 발생 부 임을 알 수 있음. Transient 해석에서 기존 모터 모델에서의 토크를 출력한 결과 RMS 값은 2.73N/m 임을 알 수 있음. 〈그림 본문참조〉

        In-situ Blockage Monitoring of Sensing Line

        A reactor vessel level monitoring system measures the water level in a reactor during normal operation and abnormal conditions. A drop in the water level can expose nuclear fuel, which may lead to fuel meltdown and radiation spread in accident conditions. A level monitoring system mainly consists of a sensing line and pressure transmitter. Over a period of time boron sediments or other impurities can clog the line which may degrade the accuracy of the monitoring system. The aim of this study is to determine blockage in a sensing line using the energy of the composite signal. An equivalent Pi circuit model is used to simulate blockages in the sensing line and the system's response is examined under different blockage levels. Composite signals obtained from the model and plant's unblocked and blocked channels are decomposed into six levels of details and approximations using a wavelet filter bank. The percentage of energy is calculated at each level for approximations. It is observed that the percentage of energy reduces as the blockage level in the sensing line increases. The results of the model and operational data are well correlated. Thus, in our opinion variation in the energy levels of approximations can be used as an index to determine the presence and degree of blockage in a sensing line.

        Analysis of 5 nm Circular and Trapezoidal Nanowires by using Three-dimensional Simulations

        As complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technologies move to below 10 nm due to aggressive scaling, a new device structure is required to increase gate controllability for mitigating short- channel effects (SCEs). In this study, a 3D technology computer-aided design (TCAD) tool is used to analyze three different channel shapes of gateall- around (GAA) nanowires: circular, square, and trapezoidal. Simulation results show that the trapezoidal channel shape provides the maximum on-current from among the three shapes for the same cross-sectional area. In addition, the trapezoidal nanowire shows the minimum leakage current. In the trapezoidal shape, more benefits in both on- and offcurrent are expected when the ratio between top and bottom widths increases. Carrier density profiles in TCAD simulations reveal that the current variation is due to the channel shape and the electrical property of the channel.

      • Opinion mining using ensemble text hidden Markov models for text classification

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>With the rapid growth of social media, text mining is extensively utilized in practical fields, and opinion mining, also known as sentiment analysis, plays an important role in analyzing opinion and sentiment in texts. Methods in opinion mining generally depend on a sentiment lexicon, which is a set of predefined key words that express sentiment. Opinion mining requires proper sentiment words to be extracted in advance and has difficulty classifying sentences that imply an opinion without using any sentiment key words. This paper presents a new sentiment analysis method, based on text-based hidden Markov models (TextHMMs), for text classification that uses a sequence of words in training texts instead of a predefined sentiment lexicon. We sought to learn text patterns representing sentiment through ensemble TextHMMs. Our method defines hidden variables in TextHMMs by semantic cluster information in consideration of the co-occurrence of words, and thus calculates the sentiment orientation of sentences by fitted TextHMMs. To reflect diverse patterns, we applied an ensemble of TextHMM-based classifiers. In the experiments with a benchmark data set, we show that this method is superior to some existing methods and particularly has potential to classify implicit opinions.         A scientific approach to measure public political participation in Pakistan

        Public political participation is an exhaustive subject in the democratic system that is contributing as a tilled land since the birth of democracy. It has a wide range of frequency, but voting is one of the easiest among all forms of public participation. Despite the easiness of voting, Pakistan ranks 164th in terms of voter turnout among 169 countries of the world. The voter turnout of the second largest Muslim democracy and the fifth largest among all the democratic states was recorded as 45.3% in the 2013 general election, which was less than India’s (59.4%) and even Bangladesh’s (58.2%). More than half of the population in Pakistan does not think it is its duty to cast its vote. The present study is an effort to investigate public political participation through six independent variables: democratic political party, party mobilization, security, accessibility, leadership image and moderating factor citizen distrust, and a useful sample size of 1884 was collected across the country. SPSS version 24.0 was used to measure the data. The results show significant and positive relations among the dependent and independent variables, while citizen distrust negatively moderates the dependent and independent variables of the study.
