<P>A dual-gate thin-film transistor (TFT) has two gate electrodes. In inverted, staggered TFTs, the primary gate is usually the bottom gate (BG) and the TFT's threshold voltage (VTH) can be adjusted by applying a constant bias to the secondary gate, the top gate (TG), while scanning the BG. Dual-gate TFTs are being used as the load TFT in oxide semiconductor-based inverters, where the TG is biased positively to shift the VTH negatively and, thereby improving the inverter's output swing. Here, we show that the same can be achieved by the use of a floating TG. Furthermore, we show that the noise margin of the inverter can also be controlled by adding a biased TG to the driving TFT.</P>

<P>A high-performance inverter implemented with single-gated driving and dual-gated load amorphous-indium-gallium-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs) is demonstrated. The threshold voltage of the load TFT shifts to the negative gate voltage direction when a constant positive bias is applied on the top gate while sweeping the bottom gate. Using a positive top gate bias, the load TFT can be operated in the depletion mode to realize inverters with excellent switching characteristics, such as a wider swing range and a higher noise margin.</P>
High-Speed and Low-Voltage-Driven Shift Register With Self-Aligned Coplanar a-IGZO TFTs
Di Geng,Dong Han Kang,Man Ju Seok,Mativenga, M.,Jin Jang IEEE 2012 IEEE electron device letters Vol.33 No.7
<P>We report a high-speed and low-voltage-driven shift register utilizing self-aligned coplanar amorphous-indium-gallium-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors (a -IGZO TFTs). The a-IGZO TFTs exhibit field-effect mobility, threshold voltage, and gate-voltage swing of 24.7 cm2/V·s, 0.2 V, and 118 mV/dec, respectively. The rise and fall times of the shift register at the supply voltage (<I>V</I>DD) of 1 V are 8 and 7 μs, respectively, and the output pulse is free from distortion or ripple. For a <I>V</I>DD of 15 V, the clock frequency of the shift register approaches 500 kHz, making it applicable to high-resolution active-matrix displays.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A novel method for fabrication of vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) on indium–tin oxide glass substrates modified with self-assembly monolayer has been developed by using a supporting frame composed of a monolayer of monodispersed silica beads and an alternating current electric field. We have found that SWCNTs can be implanted into the interstices of the colloidal superlattices, which function as supporting scaffold to prevent the SWCNTs from falling down and maintain the SWCNTs at low density. As a result, this vertically aligned SWCNT assembly exhibits enhanced field emission.</P>

In this study, effects of mixed hardeners (ammonium chloride mixed with ammonium persulfate, oxalate and phosphoric acid) on the properties of 2,4,6-trimethylolphenate modified UF resin (TMPUF) were studied, and the potlife, gel time and curing temperature of TMPUF/hardeners were characterized. The results indicated that the hardeners used have critical influence on the pH value of TMPUF and some proton donor can be used to lower the pH value of TMPUF with low formaldehyde content. Besides, bamboo particleboards were made with TMPUF/hardeners, and tensile properties, water absorption ratio and the swelling ratio of bamboo particleboards were characterized. The study demonstrated that the tensile strength of bamboo particleboards increased when partial ammonium chloride was replaced by ammonium persulfate to cure the TMPUF adhesives in our experiment.

Yoo Seung Hoon,Geng Hui,Lam Wai Wang,Kong Chi Wah,Yang Bin,Chiu Tin Lok,Wu Po Man,Cheung Kin Yin,Yu Siu Ki,Shin Dongho,Min Byung Jun 한국물리학회 2020 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.77 No.7
The purpose of this study was to investigate the oxygen enhancement ratio (OER) effects on treatment planning for a hypoxic prostate tumor with proton scanning beams. Two different OER-based dose calculation models (the average model and the voxel model) were investigated by using hypoxic tumor models in this simulation study. For the hypoxic tumor model, an oxygen distribution with a range of 2.4-9.4 mmHg was used according to the clinical data. The results given by the average model and the voxel model were compared for 50% and 90% tumor control probabilities with variations in the hypoxic tumor volume and fractionation. Comparison between the treatment plans with OER-based higher predicted dose and with the conventional prescription dose was conducted to investigate the organ-at-risk (OAR) doses for the prostate case. The average model showed a higher calculated dose than the voxel model. The voxel model with a 50% control probability showed good agreement with the current prescription dose. The OER values of the average model ranged from 1.05 to 1.25, which were applied to the whole tumor volume in treatment planning. The voxel-model-based OERs were higher (1.50-1.75) than those of average model, and these OERs should be applied only for the hypoxic boost region. Regarding treatment plans, the doses of the rectum and the bladder were reduced to the tolerable range V80Gy (volume receiving equal to or greater than 80Gy) < 15% and V75Gy (volume receiving equal to or greater than 75Gy) < 15% respectively after an optimization, but the maximum dose to femoral heads was higher than 50 Gy. In conclusion, we investigated the possible ranges of the OER (1.3-1.8) for proton-beam treatment of prostate cases. A dose escalation of up to about 1.8 times can be applied for the small hypoxic region. This result, which was obtained using a model study, should be verified through clinical experiment.
Predictors of Positive Bone Metastasis in Newly Diagnosed Prostate Cancer Patients
Chien, Tsu-Ming,Lu, Yen-Man,Geng, Jiun-Hung,Huang, Tsung-Yi,Ke, Hung-Lung,Huang, Chun-Nung,Li, Ching-Chia,Chou, Yii-Her,Wu, Wen-Jeng,Huang, Shu-Pin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.3
Background: The prevalence of prostate cancer (PCa) has been increasing in recent years. Treatment strategies are largely based on the results of bone scan screening. Therefore, our aim was to investigate predictors of positive bone metastasis in newly diagnosed PCa patients. Materials and Methods: After extensive review, 336 consecutive patients newly diagnosed with PCa between April 2010 and November 2013 at our institution were enlisted in the study. Patients were divided into two groups according to bone scan results. Univariate analyses (Chi-square test for discrete variables and independent t-test for continuous variables) were applied to determine the potentially significant risk factors associated with distant bone metastasis. Binary logistic regression analyses were used to further investigate the influence of these factors on bone metastasis. Results: The patient mean age was $71.9{\pm}8.6years$ (range: 48 to 94 years). The mean prostate specific antigen (PSA) level and biopsy Gleason score were $260.2{\pm}1107.8ng/mL$ and $7.4{\pm}1.5$, respectively. The body mass index (BMI) for the series was $24.5{\pm}3.4kg/m^2$. Sixty-four patients (19.0%) had a positive bone scan result. Patients with positive bone scan results had a significantly lower BMI ($23.3{\pm}3.5$ vs. $24.8{\pm}3.3$; p=0.003), a higher Gleason score ($8.5{\pm}1.1$ vs. $7.1{\pm}1.5$; p < 0.001), and a higher PSA level ($1071.3{\pm}2337.1$ vs. $69.4{\pm}235.5$; p < 0.001) than those without bone metastasis. Multivariate logistic regression analysis employing the above independent predictors demonstrated that a Gleason score of ${\geq}7$, clinical stage ${\geq}T3$, $BMI{\leq}22kg/m^2$, and an initial PSA level of ${\geq}20ng/mL$ were all independent predictors of bone metastasis. Conclusions: A bone scan might be necessary in newly diagnosed PCa patients with any of the following criteria: clinical stage T3 or higher, a Gleason score of 7 or higher, BMI equal to or less than 22, and a PSA level of 20 or higher.
