Vol.12 No.-

The tasks of today's human society are 1) to preserve nature, 2) to create the sound social climate, 3) to construct human rehabitation and 4) to materialize the world peace with the human family spirit. The Bright Society Movement, acting up to such historical needs, is extending worldwidely. Following are the necessities of the times; 1) the population increase, the excessive urbanization and industrialization cause pollution to break the things of nature and to further intimidate human life. For that reason, the world-wide movement is urgently needed to protect the nature and revive her functions. 2) Materials are the necessary condition for man's life; nevertheless, the tendency spreads around the world to value more seriously materials than man. Machines and tools must be utilized for only man's convenience. It is our present mission to enhance human value and construct a society which is good to live. 3) As for human relationship, humanity and familiarity among neighbors grow more sterile. Recovering humanity in our society, we'll have to lead an intimate life with out neighbors as if a family, and all human beings ought to keep good relations one another under the awareness that we are all brothers. Since the world is becoming a global community, people in this community can not help co-operating one another. 4) The gradual increase of the number of modern people who take the passive and negative attitude in life, and antagonism between individuals, groups, races, and nations which most frequently results in war; these phenomena are typical of modern society. We should make every effort to induce people to take an active, positive attitude and cast away such antagonism. 5) Individualism and egoism for common prosperity. The solution is to place great emphasis collaboration and the basis for modern society are the main factors to destroy the social collaboration and the basis for common prosperity. The solution is to place great emphasis upon human education so as to make the habit of servicespirit. The Bright Society Movement, in accordance with these historical and social demands, takes as its motto Good will, Cooperation and Service―Contribution. 1. Good Will The spirit of Good Will is not only the native love made between friendly persons but the mental basis for human life. First, filial piety is the most important in the life of Good Will. Only a man, who is dutiful to his parents, can be a leader and do his best for society. Second, Good Will is beautiful love between husband and wife. For it is next to impossible without beautiful love to become the most intimate couple from two strangers. Third, Good Will is the love between parents and children. It is true love without any condition. Forth, Good Will is spirit of keeping friendly contact with neighbors. Such spirit is to help mutually, feel grateful, and live loving neighbors as if relatives. 2. Cooperation Cooperation is an essential principle to form human society. All beings in the universe keep inter-relation through the organic cooperative system with their environments. Man can yield greater results by mean of cooperation. A family can be happy when they collaborate one another; every member of a society is able to achieve their aims through their mutual cooperation. The Bright Society Club can construct human cooperative society as well, when it is possible to create the systematic cooperative relationship between unit clubs, federations, regional centres, national centres, and international centre. 3. Service-Contribution Service is man's natural behavior to contribute himself and the development of human beings. Everything with me is what is obtained from others, not what I produce by myself. Service means to reward everyone for what I have received. The society which consists of those who are willing to service each other; only that society can provide for proper opportunity to be compensated. Fruitful life does not lie in good health and materials. Really valuable Life is with helping others. Life, filled with Good Will, Cooperation, and Service-Contribution, must grow into a habit of everyman so as to be a guiding principle in his life. Now, the basic directions of unit club for the Bright Society Movement are as follows; 1. Leading role of unit clubs; Centering around unit clubs, Bright Society Movement is expanded. 2. Systematic relations of club structure; each unit club keeps organic relationship mutually. 3. Regional and functional unit clubs; unit clubs are formed on the basis of pecularities of regions or functions. When all human beings understand the historical and social missions and participate in the Bright Society Movement positively, we'll be able to creat earlier human cooperative society which is good to live.

김장순 ( Jang Soon Kim ),이종렬 ( Jong Ryol Lee ),박천만 ( Chun Man Park ) 한국미용학회 2006 한국미용학회지 Vol.12 No.3

The purpose of this study is to offer fundamental data for establishing a theory on aroma therapy by understanding Korean use and preference of aroma. The subjects of the study were 130 skin care specialists who worked for skin care salons and 410 general people in Daegu. The study was carried out through a questionnaire and inhalation test. The data were collected from September 1, 2003 to October 1, 2003. The result were as follows : 1. The rate of people who had experienced aroma less than 3 times was 40.5%. The rate of people who had not experienced aroma was 26.1%, who had experienced aroma massage was 33%, and who had inhaled aroma was 47.5%. The people who were older, wealthy, female, married, graduated from college were more experienced aroma(p<0.0l) and housewives in the thirties had more opportunities of experiencing aroma than other subjects. 2. General people preferred aroma Orange(66.3%) the most among 8 essential oils used in the test. The second preference was blended oil with Rosemary, Geranium and Lemon(26.1%). The third preference was the Lavender(25.8%). The order of preference in skin care specialists was Orange(83.3%), Lavender (48.8%), blended oil with Rosemary, Geranium and Lemon(42.9%), and blended oil with Lavender, Sandalwood, Ylangylang and Mandarin(26.2%). Both general people and skin care specialists disliked Teatree the most. 3. Lavender was more preferred by women than men (p<0.05) and Teatree was more preferred by men than women(p<0.0l). In particular, people in thirties liked Lavender the most(p<0.01). Teatree(p<0.001) and Sandalwood (p<0.05) were more preferred by married people than unmarried people. 4. The more educated people were, the more they liked the blended oil with Rosemary, Geranium, and Lemon(p<0.01). Housewives preferred Lavender(p<0.001) and Frankincense(p<0.05) and workers preferred Teatree(p<0. 001) and Sandalwood(p<0.05). As people were not healthy, they tended to prefer Teatree(p<0. 01) As people experienced essential oil, aroma massage and aroma inhalation more, they preferred Lavender and Frankincense. 5. Women`s average score was higher than men`s(women : 4.58, men: 4.18, total score: 6.0). Younger people more preferred aroma than older people(p<0.05). 6. 51.3% of specialists answered they used aroma for skin care less than one time a day, 35.7% of them used 2 or 3 times a day. 29.6% of specialists answered that the biggest difficulty in their work was the lack of knowledge of aroma. The next one was relationship with co-workers and pay(20.4%) and overwork was 13.9% 7. 37.3% of specialists had got massages 10~20 times from a skin care specialist and 31.7% of them had got massages less than 10 times. About experiencing aroma in everyday life, 42.9% of them experienced aroma 10~20 times and 28.6% of then experienced less then 10 times. 8. Generally, the more experienced people liked Lavender, Teatree, Sandalwood and Frankincense(p<0.05). 9. As a result of the survey on the specialists` preference, preferred oils were Lavender(22.4%), Rosemary (13.4%), Rose(10.1%), Jasmine(9.2%) and Orange(8.4%). Unpleasant oils were Teatree(16.0%), Yiangyiang(13.6%), Peppermint(9.9%) and Patchouli(8.6%). The specialists used Lavender the most (67.6%) in aroma therapy and used Rosemary(6.5%), Teatree(5.6%) and Peppermint(4.6%). In conclusion, the subjects` experience and knowledge of aroma were not high, and there was difference in preferences of aroma by their ages, gender, education, occupations, and experiences. However, both general people and the specialists had a difficulty in aroma use due to the lack of knowledge of aroma. So, if we apply aroma therapy to patients in consideration of their preferences, the best result will be expected. A systemic aroma education program for specialists is needed as soon as possible.

Vol.19 No.1

Wallace Stevens' poetry is chiefly concerned with the relation of man's imagination to his physical reality. Reality, characteristically, as he has symbolized by the 'green,' is often transfigured and changed when acted upon by man's imagination. The transfiguration of reality, that is imagination, is represented by 'blue.' Throughout his works. the poet tries to pursue reality as being "Things Itself and imagination as being "metamorphosis" of reality. Stevens explores mans many ways of interpreting his physical reality, and considers how one might apply to chaos through the use of one's imaginative power. The problem of belief is resolved by the belief in a poetry which celebrates life here and now and which takes the place of God or gods. Stevens excelled in two roles that of poet and of surety bonds expert, and throughout his life. he performed admirably in both capacities. To create a meaningful order out of the interplay of reality and the imagination was one of Stevens' basic poetic themes. In 'blue' and 'green' he seems to have found an almost perfectly balanced representation of reality and the imagination. In an evolving poetic process which explores man's consciousness, he juxtaposes possibilities, plays variations on ideas, poses alternative, and finally arrives at synthesis of contradictory elements: reality and imagination, chaos and order Key Words.' imagination, reality, color, blue, green, 'Thing Itself.

        신근만(Keun Man Shin),홍순용(Soon Yong Hong),최영 대한통증학회 1991 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.4 No.2

N/A Cervical epidural steroid injection, although not as familiar to many anesthesiologists, can be useful in the management of patients with acute and chronic neck, shoulder and arm pain. My clinic personally contacted and interviewed thirty patients with cervical radiculopathy who re- ceived cervical epidural steroid injection. Twenty seven percent of the patients had a excellent response(greater than 75% improvement) and fifty percent of the patients had a good response (greater than 50% improvement) to an injection of steroid into the cervical epidural space. We have conciuded that cervical epidural steroid injection was very effective in the management of cervical radiculopathy and represented a possible alternative to surgery. Many anesthesiologists should add to their armamentarium the use of such techniques in the man- agement of cervical radiculopathy.

Vol.11 No.-

Purpose: To identify the main toxic gas released from salted radish in rice bran(Dan-M-Ji) and to introduce the radiological findings of the patient who was exposed to the gas. Materials and Methods: Chest radiographs and CT scans of one survivor among three men who were exposed to the gas from Dan-Mu-Ji were reviewed. Gas obtained from the closed bottle containing Dan-Mu-Ji was analized by using the gas chromatography. Results: The radiographlc examinations of the survivor were suggestive of pulmonary edema with it's rapidly improving consolidations in both lung. The headapace gas within the bottle containing Dan-Mu-Ji was mainly composed with carbon dioxide, ethyl alcohol and hydrogen sulfide, of which hydrogen sulfide was considered the main toxic gas released. Conclusion: Under the anaerobic condition, Dan-Mu-Ji released toxic hydrogen sulfide. Inhalation of hydrogen sulfide might produce non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema.

Vol.10 No.2

Background : Gastric cancer is the most common malignant tumor in Korea. surgical operation is one of the major treatment modalities for gastric cancer patients. Therefore, gastrectomy is one of the most common procedures in General Surgery. There were variation in length of hospital stay and medical treatment for gastrectomy between three surgeons at Asan Medical Center. Clinical pathways have received considerable attention as a tool for recucing the medical practice variation, increasing the efficiency of care process, and improving the quality of care. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of a clinical pathway for gastrectomy in gastric cancer patients. Methods : The clinical pathway for gastrectomy was developed and implemented by a multidisciplinary group in Asan Medical Center. A computerized clinical pathway program was developed and revised after a pilot test. A total of 145 patients underwent gastrectomy by three surgeons at Asan Medical Center. We compared the length of hospital stay, patient satisfaction, and unplanned readmission rate between the pre-pathway group(n=67) and the post-pathway group(n=78). We also investigated the degree of satisfaction among the physicians and nurses who were main end-users of the clinical pathway. Results : The clinical pathway was applied to all target patients. The average length of hospital stay was shortened from 12.7days to 10.6days(p<0.01). The degree of patient satisfaction with the care process changed from 90.3% to 89.2% after the implementation of the clinical pathway, but the difference was of satistically significant(p=0.761). Unplanned readmission rate was 2.9% in the pre-pathway group. More than 90% of physicians and nurses answered that the clinical pathway had been a useful tool in their medical practice. Conclusions : The findings of the study demonstrated that implementation of the clinical pathway for gastrectomy produced substantial reduction in the length of hospital stay while improving the quality of patient outcomes. The computerized clinical pathway program can be used as one of the powerful patient management tools for reducing the practice variations and increasing the efficiency of care process in Korea hospital settings.

With Reference to the Saemaeul Leadership

Vol.10 No.-

The Saemaeul Undong was launched in 1972 on the basis of the experimental model or Saemaeul pilot projects of the previous year. The Saemaeul Undong is now a nation-wide movement which is based on the fundamental spirits of diligence, self-help and cooperation. Much of the success of the Saemaeul Undong depends on its leaders, who play a pivot role in implementing Saemaeul projects for their community. Popularly elected by the village assembly according to their leadership and faith, the leaders render their services without remuneration, working in the spirit of self-sacrifice. Now, the Saemacul Undong enters upon its tenth year in 1981. If the movement is to continue with renewed momentum, effective training projects for Saemaeul leaders must be worked out. For this purpose, it is then recommended that the research works on the leadership training projects of the Bright Society Movement be referred to. Initially started as a community movement for better life on the campus of Kyung Hee University in 1960's, the Bright Society Movement is now gaining widespread support from national as well as international club members. The goals of the Bright Society Movement are to promote mutual understanding and friendship among members and to construct on earth a truly sound and civilized welfare society that is spiritually beautiful, materially affluent, and humanely rewarding. The main objectives of this study is to propose effective training projects for Saemeaul leaders as well as the Bright Society leaders. 1) Educational courses of leadership training should be offered through the school as well as through the training institution of the community. 2) Educational contents of leadership training should place greater emphasis not only on the spiritual education but also on the technical and practical education related to the welfare of the Community. 3) Public relations education should be strengthened because leaders must work in close cooperation with the community residents for the effective movement. 4) Long-term integrated projects for the community or village unit should be established and the movement should be developed according to them. 5) A special system of regional itinerant education should be established for the effective management of selective leaders. 6) For the welfare of leaders themselves, special favors such as the authorization of leadership careers, scholarships for their sons and daughters, discounts on public charges and the priority on public employment must be offer according to their respective performance.

Vol.2 No.1

This study tries to analyze the influence on an effective and desirable degree and method of weight reduction by examining the relationship between weight reduction and performance. For the object of this study, we chose 37 taekwondo players in 5 high-schools and 13 students in university and divided three groups according to their methods of weight reduction (reduction by increment of exercise : A, by the sweating : B and by reduction of food intake or taking medicine : C ) . Thereafter, they are also divided four groups according to the degree of weight reduction (-2.0 %, 2-5%, 5-7%, 7 %-) From the measurements, we were able to draw the following conclusions. 1. The percentage of fat (%Fat) was most significantly decreased in A group and showed a tendency to reduce pro potion to degree of weight lose. 2. Muscle strength of C group players were decreased more than that of any other group and those who lost less than 5% showed stronger strength than before reduction of weight, but above 7% reduction group showed significantly reduced muscle strength. 3. Power was improved in A and B group while decreased in C group significantly improved in below 2 % reduction group, but no significant change appeared in those who lost more than 2% in weight. 4. In Flexibility, any change was not accompanied by the various method and degree of weight loss. 5. Agility was a little improved in A group and below 5 % reduction group after weight reduction while the ability of agility was impaired in C group and above 5% reduction group. 6. In the result of Harvard Step Test, the score of the test was lowered significantly only in C group. And the score rose significantly in below 2% reduction group after weight loss while decreased in above 7% reduction group. Vital Capacity was not changed in all group after weight loss.
