A Modal Analysis for a Hung Euler-Bernoulli Beam with a Lumped Mass

In this paper, a modal analysis is applied for a hung Euler-Bernoulli beam with a lumped mass. We first derive the equations of motion using the Hamillton's principle. Then regarding the tension of beam as constant, we characterize the eigenfrequencies and the feature of eigenfunctions. The approximation employed here is corresponding that the lumped mass is sufficiently large than that of beam. Finally we compare the eigenfrequencies derived here with those obtained based on the Southwell's method.
MULTI-SIGHTLINE OBSERVATION OF NARROW ABSORPTION LINES IN LENSED QUASAR SDSS J1029+2623

<P>We exploit the widely separated images of the lensed quasar SDSS J1029+2623 (z(em) = 2.197, theta = 22.'' 5) to observe its outflowing wind through two different sightlines. We present an analysis of three observations, including two with the Subaru telescope in 2010 February and 2014 April, separated by four years, and one with the Very Large Telescope, separated from the second Subaru observation by similar to 2 months. We detect 66 narrow absorption lines (NALs), of which 24 are classified as intrinsic NALs that are physically associated with the quasar based on partial coverage analysis. The velocities of intrinsic NALs appear to cluster around values of v(ej) similar to 59,000, 43,000, and 29,000 km s(-1), which is reminiscent of filamentary structures obtained by numerical simulations. There are no common intrinsic NALs at the same redshift along the two sightlines, implying that the transverse size of the NAL absorbers should be smaller than the sightline distance between two lensed images. In addition to the NALs with large ejection velocities of v(ej) > 1000 km s(-1), we also detect broader proximity absorption lines (PALs) at za(bs) similar to z(em). The PALs are likely to arise in outflowing gas at a distance of r <= 620 pc from the central black hole with an electron density of n(e) >= 8.7 x 10(3) cm(-3). These limits are based on the assumption that the variability of the lines is due to recombination. We discuss the implications of these results on the three-dimensional structure of the outflow.</P>

Many machine learning algorithms have been proposed and applied to a wide range of prediction problems in the field of industrial management. Lately, the amount of data is increasing and machine learning algorithms with low computational costs and efficient ensemble methods are needed. Alternating Decision Forest (ADF) is an efficient ensemble method known for its high performance and low computational costs. ADFs introduce weights representing the degree of prediction accuracy for each piece of training data and randomly select attribute variables for each node. This method can effectively construct an ensemble model that can predict training data accurately while allowing each decision tree to retain different features. However, outliers can cause overfitting, and since candidates of branch conditions vary for nodes in ADFs, there is a possibility that prediction accuracy will deteriorate because the fitness of training data is highly restrained. In order to improve prediction accuracy, we focus on the prediction results for new data. That is to say, we introduce bootstrap sampling so that the algorithm can generate out-of-bag (OOB) datasets for each tree in the training phase. Additionally, we construct an effective ensemble of decision trees to improve generalization ability by considering the prediction accuracy for OOB data. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conduct simulation experiments using the UCI machine learning repository. This method provides robust and accurate predictions for datasets with many attribute variables.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Deprotonatable ionic-liquid surfactant cation of 1-dodecylimidazolium (C<SUB>12</SUB>im) was successfully hybridized with polyoxovanadate anion to obtain conductive inorganic-organic hybrid crystal. Single crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the hybrid crystal contained the alternate stacking of decavanadate (V<SUB>10</SUB>) layers and interdigitated C<SUB>12</SUB>im layers. Four C<SUB>12</SUB>im cations were associated with one diprotonated V<SUB>10</SUB> anion, and the two diprotonated V<SUB>10</SUB> anions formed a dimer species. 식민지 시기 대만 영화는 대만의 정치사적인 맥락에서 고려되어야 한다. 이 논문은 우선 이 정치사적 맥락과 관련한 방대한 연구사를 설명하고, 이들과 다른 관점과 분석을 제시한다. 그리고 “식민지, 제국, 그리고 포스트식민주의”라는 주제하에 식민지 시기 대만인의 영화 생산 및 수용 양상을 서술한다. 마지막으로 이 논문은 전후 대만 영화시장에서의 “아래로부터의 탈식민주의”의 가능성을 서술할 것이다. A consideration of Taiwanese cinema during the Japanese colonial period must take into context the unique political history of Taiwan. This paper will first explain the larger current of research related to this political context and situate itself in relation to the observations and findings of others. This paper will then introduce the focus of the author’s research under the theme of this section, "Colony, Empire, and Post-colonialism,” illustrating an argument about the production and the reception of films by the Taiwanese during the colonial period. Lastly, this paper will also note the possibility of "de-colonization from the bottom up" in the “post-war” Taiwanese film market.
Vehicle Braking Control Using Sliding Mode Control

In recent years, anti-lock brake system and brake-by-wire are proposed in the vehicle control using a brake, and the braking power is expected to be improved more than ever. The researches such as an application to the ABS of Siliding mode control which considered a actuator dynamics [1] and a hybrid control of the brake using model reference adaptive control [2] are done so far. However, in the former case, speed following that be comes a target exists physically impossible situation by saturation of tire frictional force because only speed following is one. In the latter, the model error is caused because the simulation model and the controller design model are different. There fore, there is a problem that an accurate follow can not be done. In this paper, the braking control is performed using the sliding mode control [3] which has high robustness for disturbance that fulfils matching conditions. The influence of the internal current for the ZnO ceramics on the sintering behavior by pulse current sintering (PCS) method was investigated. To clear the dependence of inner current on the sintering behavior of ZnO ceramics, direct measurement of electric resistance of ZnO specimen under sintering by SPS device was carried out. It was observed that electric resistance of specimen decreases with increase in the temperature. The electric resistance begins to decrease from the low temperature of . The internal structure of sintered ZnO ceramics changed by the control of the internal current in the specimen using plate.

Endocytoscopy (EC) is a contact-type optical endoscope that allows in vivo cellular observation during gastrointestinal endoscopyand is now commercially available not only in Japan but also in Asian, European Union, and Middle Eastern countries. EC helpsconduct a highly accurate pathological prediction without biopsy. Initially, EC was reported to be effective for esophageal diseases. Subsequently, its efficacy for stomach and colorectal diseases has been reported. In this narrative review, we searched for clinicalstudies that investigated the efficacy of EC. EC seems to accurately diagnose gastrointestinal diseases without biopsy. Most of thestudies aimed to clarify the relationship between endocytoscopic findings of gastrointestinal neoplasia and pathological diagnosis. Some studies have investigated non-epithelial lesions or diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease or infectious diseases. However, there are few high-level pieces of evidence, such as randomized trials; thus, further studies are needed.
