      • Immobilization of levan fructotransferase for the production of di-fructose anhydride from levan

        Levan fructotransferase (LFTase) from Arthrobacter ureafaciens K2032 was immobilized on various carriers of which Chitopearl BCW2501 beads showed the higher activity of 320 Ug^-1 for the formation of di-fructose anhydride compounds. The immobilized enzyme retained about 60% of its initial activity after being used for 20 cycles.

      • Notch1 differentially regulates oncogenesis by wildtype p53 overexpression and p53 mutation in grade III hepatocellular carcinoma

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The tumor suppressor p53 is a key prognostic factor in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), yet only 35% of grade III tumors exhibit mutation of p53. Several other pathways have been implicated in HCC and, among these, the role of the Notch1/Snail pathway remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated the expression of p53, Notch1, and Snail proteins in HCC with regard to both clinical grade and p53 mutational status. Immunoblotting for p53 revealed that, whereas in many tumors increased p53 was a result of p53 mutation, wildtype p53 (p53WT) expression was also frequently elevated in HCCs. Coordinated evaluation of p53, Notch1, and Snail expression suggests that grade III HCC can be subdivided based on the expression of these three proteins. We found that Notch1 expression in HCC tissues and cell lines is differentially affected by p53WT and mutant p53 (p53Mut). Notch1 expression was correlated with p53 expression in cells expressing p53WT, but was not elevated in p53Mut‐expressing cells. Virally mediated expression or silencing of p53WT or p53Mut confirmed that p53WT overexpression causes Notch1 up‐regulation in HCC. Surprisingly, the consequence of Notch1 overexpression for the proliferative and invasive capacity of HCC cells depends on both the p53 mutational status and activation of the Snail pathway. <I>Conclusion:</I> In the presence of p53WT, Snail/Notch1 activation increased the invasiveness of HCC cells. In contrast, in the absence of p53WT, Notch1 decreased the invasiveness of HCC. Taken together, these findings shed new light on the complex role of the Notch1/Snail axis in HCC and provide a framework for further classifying HCC based on the expression and mutational status of p53 and the expression of Notch1 and Snail.         스포츠사회학 : 군인의 체육활동 참가와 복무만족의 관계 - 육군 의무복무병사를 중심으로 -

        본 연구는 군인의 체육활동 참여에 따른 복무만족도를 분석함으로써 그들의 복무만족 향상을 위한 수단으로서의 체육활동의 체계적인 지원을 유도하고, 나아가 이러한 체육시설 확충을 통해 군 병사의 복무만족을 향상시킬 수 있는 정책적 자료를 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있으며, 이를 위해 군인의 체육활동 참가여부와 복무만족의 관계, 군인의 체육활동 참가정도 즉, 참가빈도, 참가기간, 참가강도와 복무만족의 관계를 규명하였다.본 연구는 2001년 현재 육군에 의무 복무 중인 병사를 모집단으로 설정한 다음, 비례층화집락무선표집법을 이용하여 1191명의 표본을 추출하였다. 회수된 설문지 중 응답내용에 신뢰성이 없다고 판단되는 자료는 제외시키고, 분석 가능한 자료를 컴퓨터에 개별 입력시킨 다음, SPSS 8.0을 이용하여 공변량분석, 상관관계 분석, 중다회귀분석 등을 이용하여 통계처리하여 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다.첫째, 군인의 체육활동 참가여부는 복무만족과 관계가 있다. 즉, 군인의 체육활동 참가집단이 비참가집단에 비해 복무만족이 높다.둘째, 군인의 체육활동 참가정도는 복무만족과 관계가 있다. 즉, 군인의 체육활동 참가정도 중 참가빈도와 참가강도가 높을수록 복무만족이 높다. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationships between the participation in physical activities and service satisfaction among soldiers. Specifically, we first examine the relationship between participation status in physical activities and service satisfaction. second, we examine the relationship between the degree of their participation in physical activities and service satisfaction. After these examinations, we present the directions for encouraging physical activities, and propose the administration policies that can raise the service satisfaction of military servicemen.In order to achieve the goals of this research, we set up those who are doing their service in the army this year(2001) and analyzed 1191 soldiers as a sample by proportional stratified cluster random sampling.The tool for data collection is "Questionnaire for the relationships between participation in physical activities and service satisfaction among military servicemen", and the results of reliability shows service satisfaction of α=.8178∼8875. Methods used for statistical analysis are ANCOVA, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis.The results, based on this research method and data analysis, are as follows :First, There is a difference in service satisfaction according to whether soldiers participate in physical activities or not. Namely, service satisfaction of soldiers who participate in physical activities is higher than those who do not.Second, the degree of participation in physical activities is related to the service satisfaction. That is, the higher the frequency of participation in physical activities, the higher the service satisfaction. In addition, the higher the intensity of participation in physical activities, the higher service satisfaction as well.
