Bi4Ti3O12/Bi2S3 heterostructures with enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity are successfully synthesized via a two-step synthesis route based on a sol–gel hydrothermal method and a subsequent hydrothermal-ion exchange reaction technique. The structures, composition, morphologies and light absorption capability of Bi4Ti3O12/Bi2S3 heterostructures are verified by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra, respectively. Results indicated that Bi2S3 nanorods are grown on the surface of the spherical structure assembled by criss-cross nanosheets of Bi4Ti3O12 after ion exchange reaction. The photocatalytic tests reveal that the Bi4Ti3O12/Bi2S3 heterostructures showed much higher photocatalytic activity than pure Bi4Ti3O12 or Bi2S3. The tight interconnection between the two semiconductors will facilitate the photoinduced carriers' separation. Owing to the easy preparation and excellent property, the obtained Bi4Ti3O12/Bi2S3 heterostructures may be promising photocatalysts for practical application.

Osmanthus fragrans is a woody, evergreenspecies of shrubs and small trees that is extensively plantedin sub-tropical and temperate climates as an ornamentalplant in gardens and for its health benefits. The flower colorranges from ivory to orange to pink among different varietiesand even color difference during the whole blossom inthe sweet osmanthus. Sweet osmanthus is widely cultivatedthroughout China and other countries due to its prominentfragrance, colorful flowers, and medicinal properties. However, the scanty genomic resources in the Olea familyhave greatly hindered further exploration of its geneticmechanism on these economically important traits. In thisstudy, transcriptome sequencing of O. fragrans was performedusing the Illumina HighSeqTM2000 sequencingplatform. Next generation sequencing (NGS) of the transcriptomeof O. fragrans produced 31.7G of clean bases(211,266,818 clean reads) that were assembled into256,774 transcripts and 117,595 unigenes. Of them, 197and 237 candidate genes involved in fragrance and pigmentbiosynthesis respectively were identified based on functionannotation. Meanwhile, 1 unnamed protein and 468 functionalunknown genes were also identified. Furthermore,mRNA sequencing expression profiling of O. fragranswere compared to previous genes’. In summary, thiscomprehensive transcriptome dataset allows the identificationof genes associated with several major metabolicpathways and provides a useful public information platformfor further functional genomic studiesin O. fragransLour.

With the development of the economy, the demand for heavy-duty transportation vehicles is increasing. Due to the limitations of national standards and regulations, and the market’s requirements for the reliability and economy of the whole vehicle, it is urgent to optimize the structure of each part of the heavy-duty transportation vehicle. In this paper, the sub-frame of a certain type of cement mixer truck is taken as an example. Firstly, the finite element analysis method is used to find the structural defects of the existing products through static analysis and modal analysis of the existing products under full-load condition. Then, the density method is used to carry out topology optimization design of the existing sub-frame structure, and the optimized frame is checked. The conclusion is expected to provide a theoretical basis for the lightweight design of heavy transport vehicles.

Cochinchina momordica seeds (CMS) have been widely used due to antitumor activity by Mongolian tribes of China. However, the details of the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. In the present study, we found that an EtOAc (ethyl ester) extract of CMS (CMSEE) induced differentiation and caused growth inhibition of melanoma B16 F1 cells. CMSEE at the concentration of $5-200{\mu}g/ml$ exhibited strongest anti-proliferative effects on B16 F1 cells among other CMS fractions (water or petroleum ether). Moreover, CMSEE induced melanoma B16 F1 cell differentiation, characterized by dendrite-like outgrowth, increasing melanogenesis production, as well as enhancing tyrosinase activity. Western blot analysis showed that sustained phosphorylation of p38 MAP accompanied by decrease in ERK1/2 and JNK dephosphorylation were involved in CMSEE-induced B16 F1 cell differentiation. Notably, 6 compounds that were isolated and identified may be responsible for inducing differentiation of CMSEE. These results indicated that CMSEE contributes to the differentiation of B16 F1 cells through modulating MAPKs activity, which may throw some light on the development of potentially therapeutic strategies for melanoma treatment.

Recent studies have demonstrated that schisandrin exhibits anti-oxidative effects <I>in vivo</I>. In the present study, the effect of schisandrin on plasma nitrite concentration in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated mice was evaluated. It also significantly inhibited carrageenan-induced paw edema and acetic acid-induced vascular permeability in mice. Furthermore, schisandrin had a protective effect on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis. <I>In vitro</I>, our results are the first that show that the anti-inflammatory properties of schisandrin result from the inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) release, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression, which in turn results from the inhibition of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB), c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activities in a RAW 264.7 macrophage cell line.</P>

Background: Epidemiological findings are controversial relating to the relationship between dietary folate intake and the risk of breast cancer. We therefore conducted a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies to clarify this association. Materials and Methods: PUBMED, EMBASE, and MEDLINE databases were searched for all relevant literature published in English from January 1, 1966 to August 2013. Summary relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using a fixed or random effects model. Results: Dietary folate intake was not significantly associated with the risk of breast cancer. The combined RR with 95%CI for the highest vs. lowest category dietary intake of folate [fifteen studies; 1,836,566 participants and 24,083 patients with breast cancer] was 0.98 (0.90-1.05). Among subgroup analysis by menstrual status, hormonal status and the consumption of alcohol, methionine and vitamin B12, no significant association was observed for the dietary intake of folate and the risk of breast cancer. Dose-response analysis showed that a 220 ${\mu}g/day$ increment in dietary folate intake was not associated with the risk of breast cancer. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that dietary folate intake has no significant effect on the risk of breast cancer.
