Biotea-2-Bioschemas, facilitating structured markup for semantically annotated scholarly publications

        Leyla Garcia,Olga Giraldo,Alexander Garcia,Dietrich Rebholz-Schuhmann 한국유전체학회 2019 Genomics & informatics Vol.17 No.2

The total number of scholarly publications grows day by day, making it necessary to explore and use simple yet effective ways to expose their metadata. Schema.org supports adding structured metadata to web pages via markup, making it easier for data providers but also for search engines to provide the right search results. Bioschemas is based on the standards of schema.org, providing new types, properties and guidelines for metadata, i.e., providing metadata profiles tailored to the Life Sciences domain. Here we present our proposed contribution to Bioschemas (from the project “Biotea”), which supports metadata contributions for scholarly publications via profiles and web components. Biotea comprises a semantic model to represent publications together with annotated elements recognized from the scientific text; our Biotea model has been mapped to schema.org following Bioschemas standards.

Microtensile bond strength of CAD/ CAM-fabricated polymer-ceramics to different adhesive resin cements

        Leyla Sadighpour,Farideh Geramipanah,Zahra Ghasri,Mehrnoosh Neshatian 대한치과보존학회 2018 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.43 No.4

Objectives: This study evaluated the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) of polymer-ceramic and indirect composite resin with 3 classes of resin cements. Materials and Methods: Two computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/ CAM)-fabricated polymer-ceramics (Enamic [ENA; Vita] and Lava Ultimate [LAV; 3M ESPE]) and a laboratory indirect composite resin (Gradia [GRA; GC Corp.]) were equally divided into 6 groups (n = 18) with 3 classes of resin cements: Variolink N (VAR; Vivadent), RelyX U200 (RXU; 3M ESPE), and Panavia F2 (PAN; Kuraray). The μTBS values were compared between groups by 2-way analysis of variance and the post hoc Tamhane test (α = 0.05). Results: Restorative materials and resin cements significantly influenced µTBS (p < 0.05). In the GRA group, the highest μTBS was found with RXU (27.40 ± 5.39 N) and the lowest with VAR (13.54 ± 6.04 N) (p < 0.05). Similar trends were observed in the ENA group. In the LAV group, the highest μTBS was observed with VAR (27.45 ± 5.84 N) and the lowest with PAN (10.67 ± 4.37 N) (p < 0.05). PAN had comparable results to those of ENA and GRA, whereas the μTBS values were significantly lower with LAV (p = 0.001). The highest bond strength of RXU was found with GRA (27.40 ± 5.39 N, p = 0.001). PAN showed the lowest µTBS with LAV (10.67 ± 4.37 N; p < 0.001). Conclusions: When applied according to the manufacturers' recommendations, the µTBS of polymer-ceramic CAD/CAM materials and indirect composites is influenced by the luting cements.

The most frequent symptoms of postcholecystectomy syndrome for cholelithiasis patients older than 40 years of age

Leyla Camila Aquije Eyzaguirre,Arturo Daniel Hernández Aparcana,David Rene Rodriguez Diaz,Jully Pahola Calderón Saldaña,Luis Alex Alzamora De Los Godos Urcia 소화기인터벤션의학회 2023 International journal of gastrointestinal interven Vol.12 No.1

Although it has been demonstrated that cholecystectomy is successful in relieving symptoms in 90% of cases, some patients continue to experience gastrointestinal symptoms despite surgical intervention; this is known as postcholecystectomy syndrome. For this reason, we decided to investigate this syndrome and, relying on the article by Desai et al entitled "Foreign bodies in common bile duct in postcholecystectomy state—series of 8 cases: an experience of a single center in western India," delve into the different symptoms that appear in the syndrome. Based on an extensive review of articles published about the syndrome, the most common symptoms are dyspepsia, pain in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen, abdominal distension, and gastrointestinal issues. Consequently, it is critical to take these symptoms into consideration because, even though it may not seem like postcholecystectomy syndrome occurs frequently, one needs to be familiar with its clinical picture.

Protective effects of curcumin against methotrexate-induced testicular damage in rats by suppression of the p38-MAPK and nuclear factor-kappa B pathways

Leyla Kilinc,Yesim Hulya Uz 대한생식의학회 2021 Clinical and Experimental Reproductive Medicine Vol.48 No.3

Objective: Methotrexate (MTX), is a commonly used chemotherapeutic agent. This study aimed to investigate the possibility that curcumin (CMN) protects against MTX-induced testicular damage by affecting the phospho (p)-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kB) signaling pathways. Methods: Male Wistar albino rats were subdivided into three groups. The control group was given an intragastric (ig) administration of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) daily for 14 days, the MTX group was given a single intraperitoneal (ip) dose of MTX (20 mg/kg) on the 11th day, and the MTX+CMN group was given ig CMN (100 mg/kg/day, dissolved in DMSO) for 14 days and a single ip dose of MTX (20 mg/kg) on the 11th day. Results: The animal weights, the seminiferous tubule diameter, and germinal epithelium height significantly decreased in the MTX group compared to the control group. The testes weight and the ratio of the testes to body weight did not change, whereas the number of seminiferous tubules and the interstitial space width increased significantly in the MTX group. The number of phospho-p38 (p-p38) MAPK immunopositive cells and the immunoreactivity of NF-kB also increased in the MTX group compared to the control group. Conclusion: CMN prevented the MTX-induced decreases in the body weight, seminiferous tubule diameter, and the germinal epithelium height, while significantly reducing the number of histologically damaged seminiferous tubules and the interstitial space width changes due to MTX. CMN also reduced the number of p-p38 MAPK immunopositive cells and the NF-kB immunoreactivity.

Is the diagnosis of calcified laryngeal cartilages on panoramic radiographs possible?

Leyla Berna Çağırankaya,Nursel Akkaya,Gökçen Akçiçek,Hatice Boyacıoğlu Doğru 대한영상치의학회 2018 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.48 No.2

Purpose: Detecting laryngeal cartilages (triticeous and thyroid cartilages) on panoramic radiographs is important because they may be confused with carotid artery calcifications in the bifurcation region, which are a risk factor for stroke. This study assessed the efficiency of panoramic radiography in the diagnosis of calcified laryngeal cartilages using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) as the reference standard. Materials and Methods: A total of 312 regions (142 bilateral, 10 left, 18 right) in 170 patients (140 males, 30 females) were examined. Panoramic radiographs were examined by an oral and maxillofacial radiologist with 11 years of experience. CBCT scans were reviewed by 2 other oral and maxillofacial radiologists. The kappa coefficient (κ) was calculated to determine the level of intra-observer agreement and to determine the level of agreement between the 2 methods. Diagnostic indicators (sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and false positive and false negative rates) were also calculated. P values <.05 were considered to indicate statistical significance. Results: Eighty-two images were re-examined to determine the intra-observer agreement level, and the kappa coefficient was calculated as 0.709 (P<.05). Statistically significant and acceptable agreement was found between the panoramic and CBCT images (κ=0.684 and P<.05). The sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy rate, the false positive rate, and the false negative rate of the panoramic radiographs were 85.4%, 83.5%, 84.6%, 16.5%, and 14.6%, respectively. Conclusion: In most cases, calcified laryngeal cartilages could be diagnosed on panoramic radiographs. However, due to variation in the calcifications, diagnosis may be difficult.

In vitro evaluation of the fracture resistance and microleakage of porcelain laminate veneers bonded to teeth with composite fillings after cyclic loading

Sadighpour, Leyla,Geramipanah, Farideh,Allahyari, Somayeh,Sichani, Babak Fallahi,Fard, Mohamd Javad Kharazi The Korean Academy of Prosthodonitics 2014 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.6 No.4

PURPOSE. There is insufficient data regarding the durability of porcelain laminate veneers bonded to existing composite fillings. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the fracture resistance and microleakage of porcelain laminate veneers bonded to teeth with existing composite fillings. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty maxillary central incisors were divided into three groups (for each group, n=10): intact teeth (NP), teeth with class III composite fillings (C3) and teeth with class IV cavities (C4). Porcelain laminate veneers were made using IPS-Empress ceramic and bonded with Panavia F2 resin cement. The microleakage of all of the specimens was tested before and after cyclic loading ($1{\times}10^6$ cycles, 1.2 Hz). The fracture resistance values (N) were measured using a universal testing machine, and the mode of failure was also examined. The statistical analyses were performed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc tests (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. There was a significant difference in the mean microleakage of group C4 compared with group NT (P=.013). There was no significant difference in the fracture loads among the groups. CONCLUSION. The microleakage and failure loads of porcelain laminate veneers bonded to intact teeth and teeth with standard class III composite fillings were not significantly different.

        Narrative differences between Orkhon inscriptions

        ( Gulsun Leyla Uzun ) 한국이슬람학회 2010 한국이슬람학회논총 Vol.20 No.2

This study aims to demonstrate some of the discourse features of Tunyukuk scripts, a part of Orkhon inscriptions and compare it to the other parts, which are Bilge Kagan and Kul Tigin, in terms of its basic narrative discourse. The data will be analyzed using descriptive tools provided by narrative analysis and the rhetorical structure theory with a synchronic point of view. Tunyukuk will be the main text to be analyzed. and it will be compared to Kul Tigin to specify the discursive differences among them. Since Kul Tigin and Bilge Kagan have similar contents, Bilge Kagan will be excluded from this analysis. This study claims that even though these two scripts seem to report the same sequence of events, there is a drastic difference between them in terms of the presentation of their macro structures.
