        Construction cost estimating is a procedure for surveying the price to complete a project. The results from cost estimating are used as scheduled budgets by public organizations and actual costs by contractors. This study analyzes the existing construction cost estimating system by the comparative study of cost items in Korea and Japan, and then suggests some methods with improvement related to the problems awaiting solutions. The proposed methods include the reorganized cost items for estimating construction cost and the improved procedures for estimating construction cost and the improved procedures for estimating construction equipment cost.

        CPM scheduling by Construction Management System(CMS) is one of the most direct methods of controlling a project's progress consisted of complicated operations. In the country, the use of CMS in construction works has increased gradually from the 1980s to the present. The points of CMS are computer softwares with a management technology and information systems to applied to the computer systems. So, it is necessary to suggest a standard Construction Management Information System(CMIS) to be expanded for use of construction management technique, specially of computer application. The present study attempts to present a CMIS inclusive of work breakdown structure for civil works which can be applied in CMS. For the study an investigation through questionaire was carried out to grasp current status and problems in using CMIS and computerizing CMS.

        While network techniques are basic and logical, assimilation of the network concept does take time. For the reason, computer is being utilized for the effective PERT/CPM plan on the construction work sites. It is objective of the study to present a computerized skeleton of a construction management system, composed of 6 processors classified by modular pattern. For the study construction of modules, covering network planning, resource allocation, cost estimating and evaluation, was carried out. In conclusions, the system suggested in the study is proved applicable to the domestic practice with necessary elements.

        The current trend of If (Information Technology) in 21st century demands management innovation, that is Business Process Reengineering (BPR) in all the industry including construction project. The solution of its demand is proposed by IT based on Internet. And also, in order to meet this objective, from 1997 domestic construction industry is accelerating to systematize CALS (Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support) which is being planned to apply by government. These efforts give much weight to build computer systems rather than to improve and redesign construction business process that is more important for system application. This research develops a model for applying the BPR to construction industry, especially construction site that is a base to build a system for CALS. And the research suggests performing method, process and modeling technique of BPR to be applicable in business process redesign of construction field. Also, focusing on the research of execution step of business in construction site will be helpful for the site worker to perform BPR in construction site.

      • 도로공사 우수배제시설의 시공성 및 성능 개선에 관한 연구

        Generally, a street-inlet in road facility is aimed to exclude rainfall and filth from sewer system. In order to solve some problems in current street inlet facilities, some revised inlet systems have been suggested. Those revised facilities can also solve an environmental problem like a bad smell emitting from the worn facility and solve civil petitions due to its safety and poor quality of passing rainfall. In this study, the existing rainfall exclusion facility was investigated including foreign countries and a developed street inlet model was represented through estimating of their structures, characteristics and costs. It also be analyzed that the existing problems can be solved by a trial construction and the developed model was compared with existing models by focusing on constructability and maintenance capacity.

      • Work Sampling 기법에 의한 철근콘크리트 작업의 작업분석

        The present study was intended to find the method of improving productivity at construction work sites by employing and adapting the work measurment techniques. The study includes analysis of individuals worker's activities and work time distribution, and evaluation of work time-rates. The study adapted the work sampling method which is known to be simple and easy to use for the intended purposes and applied the method to the most typical construction operation of reinfored concrete structure works at an on-going building construction site. The operation comprises the work processes of form erection, steel bar installation and concrete placing. The study reveal that the actual working time rates, contributed to the effective work contents range from 22 to 42 percent of the total work time which are quite below the generally accepted standard of 55 percent. Assuming that the results of the study are typical in the construction industry of KOREA today, it is suggested that the improvement of productivity in construction work site requires better preplanning of work processes in such a way as to eliminate or reduce ineffective time contents to reasonable levels.

      • 건설정보공유를 위한 프로젝트 홈페이지 자동생성 시스템 구축

        Our construction markets recognize the necessity of an interchange of construction information. The construction information includes the project based data such as successful or unsuccessful information for the project and the non-project based data such as specifications or regulations. This study suggests a methodology for holding construction information in common among construction contractors by a standard construction project homepage. For the interchange of construction information by the construction project homepage, this study develops an auto-generating system of construction project homepage with some standard contents for representing a construction project. The auto-generating system of project homepage can minimize input data from the construction site and simplify the procedures for building project homepage.

      • 공정관리 소프트웨어 코드체계의 비교분석

        The computerization is an important factor for scientific construction management. Con-struction management softwares are being widely used for computerizing project control and scheduling. The code systems in those softwares enable various classifications of con-struction information such as filtering, sorting and grouping, and facilitate easy appli-cation of computer system. This study analyzes the code systems of three softwares, which are representatively used in the construction sites, through a comparative analysis for the applicability in construction management. Finally the study suggests a desirable structure of code system and a selection criterion of software to improve the applicability of construction management softwares in the construction sites.

      • 토목공사 정보관리를 위한 Uniclass 시스템의 활용성 분석

        A standardized construction information classification system is essential for organizing construction CALS and CM. In 1997, Uniclass system was developed for superseding CI/SfB system that was being used as a representative WBS. Uniclass system is organized on the basis of ISO frame and consists of tables for classifying information related to construction management and electronic commerce. This study was implemented for the analysis of applicability of Uniclass system, comparing with CI/SfB system, as a WBS for the construction CALS. This study suggests a alternative table of Uniclass to improve applicability in practical use. Uniclass system was analyzed as the best classification system for the civil engineering project among the existing systems, howewer, the classified items for CM and construction CALS need to be modified with more detailed items.

      • 웹기반 통합데이터베이스에 의한 건설정보관리 방안

        Recently, our construction industry is using various work sections classification systems for civil engineering projects. However, because the public IDB(Integrated DataBase) for the work sections is insufficiently built, it is difficult to connect construction operation information from construction site to standard specification or standard method of measurment. Therefore, this study suggests a methodology to link the construction work sections information, such as cost, schedule, drawings and specification, with civil engineering standard method of measurement. And the methodology suggested in this study was applied to a web-based work sections information management system with IDB. An IDB modeling was designed by using DFD (Data Flow Diagram) and ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram).
