        Synthesis and Biological Studies of Novel Biphenyl-3,5-dihydro-2H-thiazolopyrimidines Derivatives

        A new series of ethyl 2-(4-substitutedbenzylidene)-5-(3'-(ethoxycarbonyl)biphenyl-4-yl)-7-methyl-3-oxo-3,5-dihydro-2H-thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate derivatives ($\mathbf{8a-j}$) were synthesized. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by $\mathbf{IR}$, $^1\mathbf{H}$ $\mathbf{NMR}$, $^{13}\mathbf{C}$ $\mathbf{NMR}$, $\mathbf{LCMS}$ $\mathbf{mass}$ and $\mathbf{C}$, $\mathbf{H}$, $\mathbf{N}$ analyses. All newly synthesized compounds were screened for their In vitro antioxidant activity (Scavenging of hydrogen peroxide, Scavenging of nitric oxide radical, and Lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity), antibacterial (Escheria coli, Pseudonmonas aeruginosa (gram-negative bacteria), Bacillus subtillis, Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive bacteria)) and antifungal (Candida albicans Aspergillus niger) studies.

      • Site Specific Soil Fertility Ranking and Seasonal Paddy Variety Selection : An Intuitionistic Fuzzy Rough Set and Fuzzy Bayesian Based Decision Model

        In decision making, crisp ranking is not possible when the entire attribute characteristics and their degree of importance are known precisely. In real world situations decision making takes place in an environment where the goals, the constraints, and the consequences of possible actions are not known precisely. Thus the best condition for classic decision making problem may not be satisfied when the situation involves both fuzzy and crisp data. Site specific soil fertility and seasonal crop selection data are characterized by high degree of fuzziness and uncertainty. In our model, intuitionistic fuzzy rough set establishes a close connection between the concepts of similarity and dissimilarity thereby providing an excellent framework for ranking soil fertility. Further fuzzy Bayesian incorporates both fuzzy and uncertainty in the probability model yielding more realistic seasonal paddy variety selection. The decision model introduced in this paper is suitable for both data rich and data poor environment. The results illustrate that the soil fertility ranking and successive paddy variety selection can help to sustain the soil fertility in subsequent rotations and minimize the loss of nutrients from the sites.

        Early Growth Response of Broilers to Dietary Lysine at Fixed Ratio to Crude Protein and Essential Amino Acids

        The effects of dietary lysine (Lys) at a fixed ratio to crude protein (CP) and essential amino acids (EAA) on early growth response of broilers were studied. Four diets were formulated to contain similar metabolizable energy (ME, 2,950 kcal/kg) but contained graded levels of incremental Lys (1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4%) while also increasing the dietary CP and EAA (methionine, methionine+ cystine, threonine and tryptophan) to maintain a constant ratio with Lys. Each diet was fed at random to 10 replicates of 6 chicks each throughout the experimental period (1-21 d). At the lowest concentration of Lys of 1.1% (19.04% CP), body weight gain (BWG) was lowest and feed conversion ratio (FCR) was poorest. The BWG increased and FCR decreased linearly as dietary Lys increased upto 1.3% (22.5% CP). Lowest feed consumption was observed in the dietary group that contained 1.1% Lys (19.04% CP) in the diet. Increasing the concentration of Lys to 1.2% (20.77% CP), significantly increased the feed consumption. The concentrations of protein, calcium, phosphorus and cholesterol in serum were not influenced by the variation in Lys contents in the diet. The humoral immune response as measured by antibody titre in response to SRBC inoculation was significantly lower in the diets containing 1.1% Lys compared to 1.4%. It is concluded that the Lys requirement of broilers is 1.3% (22.5% CP) during 0 to 21 days of age for eliciting optimum performance when a fixed ratio of Lys to CP (1:17.31) and essential AA is maintained (1:0.47 Met; 1:0.56 Thr; 1:0.17 Try).

        Study on polyester resin concrete for applications in chemical & power plant industry

        Polyester polymer resin concrete is a type of concrete that incorporates polyester polymer resins as a binder instead oftraditional cement. In this study, concrete was made using three resins: vinyl ester resin, superior vinyl ester resin, andbisphenolresin. The ingredients of polyester polymer resin concrete are three types of polyester resin, 1-2% of Methyl ethylketone peroxide (MEKP) as the catalyst, Cobalt Octoate as the Accelerator and N, N-dimethylaniline as the promoter of 1%is used to make the binding resin. Along with binding resin calcium carbonate as filler and fine aggregate (normal riversand)passing through 2.36 mm sieve and retained on 600-micron sieve and course aggregate of size 6mm were used to make theconcrete. 36 trail batches were carried out for preliminary investigation targeting a compressive strength of 70 MPa. Theshortlisted batches were taken for detailed investigation on mechanical and durability properties. The stress strain behaviourisstudied and dynamic modulus,poisons ratio is calculated with various correlative equations for mechanical properties. Thedurability properties of the resin concrete were assessed as per ACI 515.2R-13 [1966] for the acid and base solutions. Byimmersing the samples in three diluted acids and two alkaline media, such as 10% sulphuric acid, 10% nitric acid, 10%hydrochloric acid, 10% sodium sulphate, and 10% magnesium sulphate, the durability property is assessed. Variations incompressive strength, mass, and the look of the submerged samples, among other variables, have been studied and it foundthat the Vinyl ester resin concrete possesses a higher acid resistance property.

        Replacement of Normal Maize with Quality Protein Maize on Performance, Immune Response and Carcass Characteristics of Broiler Chickens

        An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary replacement of normal maize (NM) with quality protein maize (QPM) on performance, immune response and carcass characteristics of broiler (Krishibro) chickens. Six experimental diets were prepared separately for starter and finisher phases. Diet 1 was a control diet formulated with NM and soybean meal. In diets 2-5, the NM was replaced with QPM at 25, 50, 75 and 100%, respectively. Diet 6 was the same as the control diet, but supplemented with synthetic lysine similar to the industry standard. Each test diet was fed to 8 replicates, each of 5 chicks, reared in stainless steel battery brooders. The AME content of QPM (3382 kcal/kg) was similar to that of NM (3,352 kcal/kg), but protein (9.91 vs. 8.94%), lysine (0.40 vs. 0.26%) and tryptophan (0.09 vs. 0.07%) contents of QPM were higher than NM. Dietary replacement of NM with 50% QPM significantly (p<0.05) improved body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, humoral immune response, relative bursa weight, and breast muscle yield and lowered abdominal fat content. No further improvement in these parameters was recorded by increasing the level of replacement of NM with QPM to either 75% or 100%. Further, the improvement noticed in the 50% QPM group was similar to the group fed the NM diet with lysine supplementation, and thus dietary replacement of NM with QPM at 50% did not need extra synthetic lysine supplementation. It is concluded that dietary replacement of NM with QPM at the 50% level resulted in optimum performance, higher breast muscle yield and higher immune response in broiler chickens.

        High Step-up DC-DC Converter by Switched Inductor and Voltage Multiplier Cell for Automotive Applications

        This paper elaborates two novel proposed topologies (type-I and type-II) of the high stepup DC-DC converter using switched inductor and voltage multiplier cell. The advantages of these proposed topologies are the less voltage stress on semiconductor devices, low device count, high power conversion efficiency, high switch utilization factor and high diode utilization factor. We analyze the Type-II topologies operating principle and mathematical analysis in detail in continuous conduction mode. High-intensity discharge lamp for the automotive application can use the derived topologies. The proposed converters give better performance when compared to the existing types. Also, it is found that the proposed type-II converter has relatively higher voltage gain compared to the type-I converter. A 40 W, 12 V input voltage and 72 V output voltage has developed for the type-II converter and the performances are validated.
