        An Automodular Account of Pragmatically Motivated Accusatives

        Kim, Kyunghwan. 2014. An Automodular Account of Pragmatically Motivated Accusatives. Journal of Linguistic Studies 19(3), 211-232. This paper attempts to formalize some of the phenomena observed in pragmatically motivated suffixation of the accusative marker in Korean. Replacing the case marker on the indirect object, the causee, and the possessor with the accusative is explicated as the assignment of the patient role in role structure, which represents the cognitive contents of events and the cognitive status of the participants. Replacing a postposition with the accusative is analyzed as an instance of transitivization in function-argument structure, which represents the logical structure of sentences and consists of semantic categories such as argument and proposition. Other cases in which the accusative is optionally added, which results in emphasizing the host, may require an explanation in a separate module related to discourse-function or information structure. The theoretical framework implemented in this paper is called automodular grammar, which takes the view that grammar consists of independently and simultaneously generated modules that are associated through the lexicon.         遭遇 把字句에 관한 소고

        In this paper, we examined how non-disposal Zaoyu ba construction differs from Disposal ba construction and how it was derived. Existing research have mentioned that Zaoyu ba construction has a stronger subjectivity than the so-called type jia(甲) and type yi(乙), but it did not clearly explain how it was derived from it. Li Yushen(2016) also presented a more detailed explanation based on Langacker(1987)'s initial model of subjectification, but there were also some problems and further examined that Bageju is a more subjective phrase among Zaoyu ba construction due to the attribution function of the character ‘ge’. In addition, this paper also examined zhishi (causative) ba construction which is closely related to Zaoyu ba construction. The weakening of control and responsibility of the agent subject went through a transitional period such as separation and deletion of the subject itself in Ba construction. The cause appears, and the meaning of the object changes accordingly. The verb also undergoes not only a change of valency but also a change of case. In short, the syntactic and semantic changes of subject, ba-NP, and verb in the subjectifiication process lead to a shift from disposal ba construction to non-disposal ba construction, which in fact means that the voice and case system of this construction has been changed.

        청소년의 숲 체험을 통한 치유효과 분석

        This paper investigated the satisfaction of agro-healing and analyzed its willingness to participate in agro-healing in the future. First, a survey of intentions to participate in agro-healing found that the ratio of participation was 55.6% (125 people). It is analyzed that more than half of teenagers who have experienced agro-healing programs are willing to participate again. Second, a survey of satisfaction with agro-healing showed the highest improvement in agricultural awareness, including increased public interest value of agriculture. This can be seen as a way to raise public awareness of agriculture, as well as the effects of mental and physical health recovery, social integration contributions, and social safety contributions. Third, an analysis of the effect of awareness on the willingness to participate in agro-healing showed that the less significant it was, the higher the awareness, the higher the willingness to participate. In other words, various information delivery means, such as public relations measures, should be prepared to raise awareness of agro-healing. Fourth, it can be seen that those with low satisfaction with expected effects such as health recovery, social safety, social integration, and improved agricultural awareness have a clear difference in their willingness to participate in the future. In other words, the higher the satisfaction level of the agro-healing program, the higher the willingness to participate in the agro-healing industry in the future.

      • An Improved Speech Processing Strategy for Cochlear Implants Based on an Active Nonlinear Filterbank Model of the Biological Cochlea

        <P>The purpose of this study was to improve the speech processing strategy for cochlear implants (CIs) based on a nonlinear time-varying filter model of a biological cochlea. The level-dependent frequency response characteristic of the basilar membrane is known to produce robust formant representation and speech perception in noise. A dual resonance nonlinear (DRNL) model was adopted because it is simpler than other adaptive nonlinear models of the basilar membrane and can be readily incorporated into the CI speech processor. Spectral analysis showed that formant information is more saliently represented at the output of the proposed CI speech processor compared to the conventional strategy in noisy conditions. Acoustic simulation and hearing experiments showed that the DRNL-based nonlinear strategy improves speech performance in a speech-spectrum-shaped noise.</P>

        Agricultural reservoirs are important facilities for storing or managing water for the purpose of securing agricultural water, creating and expanding agricultural production bases, and using them to increase agricultural production. In particular, the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) manages agricultural reservoirs scattered across the country, and officially recognizes and distributes hydrological data to increase their public utilization and aims to improve the value of water resources. Data on the water level of agricultural reservoirs are important. However, errors such as missing values and outliners limit utilization of the data in various fields of research and industry. Therefore, water quality data measures should be devised to increase reliability. this study categorized different error types and looked at automatic correction methods to enhance the reliability of the vast hydrological data. In addition, the water level data corrected from errors were compared to the reference hydrologic data through expert judgment in accordance with the quality control procedure, and the most appropriate measures were verified. As KRC manages more agricultural reservoirs than any other institution, the proposed method of efficient and automatic water level data correction in this study is expected to increase the availability and reliability of the hydrological data.

        An Analysis of Perceived Value, Happiness, and Revisit Intention of eSports Competition Watch: A Study on the Disabled and Non-Disabled Persons

        Purpose: This study analyzed and identified differences in perceived value, happiness, and revisit intention according to eSports game viewing for the disabled and non-disabled. Accordingly, it is meaningful to provide basic data for effectiveness and expansion of the base of eSports for the disabled as an eSports viewing market. Method: For about six months from January to June 2022, visitors to the competition organized by the Korea eSports Federation for the Disabled and the Korea eSports Association(Presidential Boat Amateur, D-war, Heungtaryeong eSports Competition) were selected, and a total of 384 copies were distributed for the final anal-ysis. As for the data processing method, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and t-test were performed. And the following conclusions were drawn. Results: First, the differences in perceived value, happiness, and revisit intention of eSports visitors according to gender were not statistically significant. Second, there was a statistically significant difference in perceived value and happiness factors according to the presence or absence of disabilities of eSports visitors, but there was no significant difference in revisit inten-tion. Conclusion: Through the results of this study, the effectiveness of e-sports viewing was confirmed. In addition, it was confirmed that there was no difference in perceived beliefs and attitudes between the disabled and the non-disabled. Accordingly, e-sports research for the disabled should be continuously conducted.

      • Design of dispersion controlled optical fibers for wavelength division multiplexed optical communication system

        In a large capacity wavelength division multiplexed system, the dispersion in optical fiber is one of critical parameters that determine the efficiency of nonlinear interactions as well as the transmission distance. In this study two types of dispersion controlled fibers were rigorously analyzed. For dual mode fiber that supports both the fundamental mode LP01 and the first excited mode LP11, exact eigen values of the vectorial Maxwell’s equations were numerically obtained. The dispersion characteristics have been rigorously analyzed for various index profiles including the effects of material dispersion of cladding and core for the applications in dispersion compensation. A new non-zero dispersion fiber design has been developed to optimize both linear and nonlinear distortions in the 1.5μm EDFA gain band to improve the performance of wavelength division multiplexed system.         Near Infrared Shielding Properties of Quaternary Tungsten Bronze Nanoparticle Na0.11Cs0.22WO3

        Reduced tungsten bronze nanoparticles of ternary and quaternary compounds were prepared by adding sodium and cesium to crystal structures of tungsten trioxides (NaxCs0.33-xWO3, x = 0, 0.11) while maintaining the overall alkali metal fraction at 0.33, in an attempt to control near infrared (NIR) shielding property in the particular wavelength range of 780 to 1200 nm. The structure and composition analysis of the quaternary compound, Na0.11Cs0.22WO3, revealed that 93.1% of the hexagonal phase was formed, suggesting that both alkali metals were mainly inserted in hexagonal channel. The NIR shielding property for Na0.11Cs0.22WO3 was remarkable, as this material demonstrated efficient transmittance of visible light up to 780 nm and enhancement in NIR shielding because of the blue-shifted absorption maximum in comparison to Cs0.33WO3.
