Two types of barge, container and tanker vessels, are designed with specific dimensions for canal-coastal shipping in Kyung-In canal and Yellow Sea region. The principal dimensions of barges are determined by considering the environment of Kyung-In canal and Yellow Sea. The selection of structure type and strength confirmation is conducted by the technical rules of Korean Register of Shipping.<br/> For the structural analysis of designed barges, the semi-direct structural analysis is carried out with using MSC NASTRAN software. Applying identical dimensions to both vessels, the standardization of structural design and analysis procedure are introduced.

비행중에 항공기의 연료를 절약시키는 가장 중요한 요소는 항공기의 항력을 감소시키는 것으로서 본 연구에서는 연료 절약형 이음속 항공기의 개발을 위한 유도항력감소에 관한 기초적인 연구를 수행하였다. 날개의 형상에 따라 유도항력이 달라지므로 이 항력을 최소로 하는 날개끝의 형상에 대한 연구와 날개끝 와류를 제어하는 유도항력 감소장치에 대하여 이론해석 및 풍동실험을 통한 연구를 하였다. 날개끝의 형상으로는 날개 끝에 camber와 파형이 있는 새로운 crescent형 날개끝 모양에 대한 공력특성을 구하였다. 날개 끝에 장착하는 유도항력 감소장치로서 날개끝 strake, 방사형 다중슬롯에 대한 기술을 개발하였다. 여러 가지 모양의 날개끝 strake를 설계하여 직사각형 날개, 테이퍼형 날개 및 뒤젖힘 날개에 장착하여 수치해석 및 풍동실험을 통한 공력특성을 조사하였다. 날개 끝에 방사형으로 설치한 다중슬롯장치가 날개끝 와류를 제어하여 날개의 양항계수에 미치는 효과를 실험적인 방법으로 연구하였다. The most important factor in saving fuel during flight is the reduction of aerodynamic drag of the aircraft. In this study, a basic research has been carried out to reduce the induced drag for the development of fuel economical subsonic aircraft. The wing tip configuration and devices to reduce induced drag were investigated by numerical analysis and experiment. To study the aerodynamic characteristics of a wing tip shape, wind tunnel testing and numerical analysis were carried out for a newly developed crescent wing tip with camber and wavy tip shape. For the wing tip drag reduction devices such as wing tip strakes, and radial multiple slots were developed. Various shapes of wing tip strakes were designed and wind tunnel tests were conducted to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of wing tip strakes for a rectangular wing, tapered and 35 degree swept back wing. An experimental study was performed for effect of the multiple slots which were formed at the wing tip radially on the coefficient of lift and drag of a wing by reducing the trailing vortex effect.

This study has tried to find out how to effectively develop silver towns. The following is the results ; First, it is strongly needed that the government should try to make real of policies on the welfare of the aged against the aging society. Second, and the silver works will be a prospecting one in the 21st century with potential according to the increasing number of the rich aged, and in regard to developing silver towns, various systems and laws and difficult procedures related to it have been confornted problems. Third, it is assumed that the aged prefer suburban residential area, which allow them to easily access to medical services, cultural facilities as well as residential district. In our country, the aged are in the increasing tendency to live independently with retirement pay, pension, insurance. So, it is desirable to encourage private organizations to investigate in silver works by loosing the conditions regarding silver works with revision of related laws, simplifying the developing procedures and tax privilege. It is required that creating social mood in which encourage public corporations with public interest and public trust and private profit-making groups to actively take part in silver works. Publication activities for improving and promoting public awareness and interest on the silver town should be also continued.
18S-srRNA 분석에 의한 Acantbamoeba 한국 분리주들의 분류 검토

Acanthamoeba spp. spread in soil, ponds, air and swimming pool, cause a granulomatous amoebic meningitis and amoebic keratitis in human and experimental animals. Their classification had depended upon morphological characteristics and physiological conditions such as thermophilic status and generation times. However, because amoeba species showed the morphological and physiological diversity in isolates, many attempts have been made on identification of Acanthamoeba spp. Restriction fragments length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of IBS-small subunit ribosomal RNA (srRNA) was an useful tool for classification among morphologically and genetically closely-related species. In this study, 18S-srDNAs of amoebae were amplified by PCR with primer encoding 18S-srRNA gene and digested with restriction endonudeases, and RFLP analysis was applied on classification of Acanthamoeba Korean isolates (YM-4, YM-5 and YM-7), comparing with reference amoebae, A. culbertsoni, A. polyphaga and A. royreba. Trophozoites of six Acanthamoeba spp. had typical acanthopoda, but did not show any morphological differences. Cyst of Acanthamoeba sp. YM-7 was similar to that of A. polyphaga which was designated as group Ⅱ Acanthamoeba. Morphologically other amoebae belonged to group Ⅲ Acanthamoeba. Digestion of 18S-srDNA with six enzymes, Dde Ⅰ, Hae Ⅲ, Hind Ⅲ, EcoR Ⅰ, Rsa Ⅰ and Sph Ⅰ, resulted in various DNA fragments. Using the method of Nei and U (1979) for RFLP analysis, genetic divergence was not observed between A culbertsoni and Acanthamoeba sp. YM-4. Between A. culbertsoni and Acanthamoeba sp. YM-5, genetic distance was 0.070, 0.364 between Acanthamoeba sp. YM-4 and A. polyphaga, and 0.277 between Acanthamoeba sp. YM-7 and A. polyphaga. In comparison with A. culbertsoni and A. polyphaga, Acanthamoeba sp. YM-7 showed genetic distance of 0.330 and 0.154, respectively. Thus, Acanthamoeba sp. YM-7 is a similar species to A. polyphaga. Acanthamoeba sp. YM-5 is a different species from A. polyphaga, but closely-related to A. culbertsoni. Acanthamoeba sp. YM-4 can be classified as a subspecies or a strain of A. culbertsoni.

This paper presents a design scheme to improve the stability of the variable displacement pump. A variable displacement pump is used to save energy since it can adjust the output flow rate changing the swash plate angle depending on the load pressure. An orifice is placed in the line to obtain the smoother response of the swash plate. The system is analyzed and governing equations are derived. The system is then simulated given the real load flow as well as an impulse load flow for the illustrated examples. The simulation results show that the performance is satisfactory and the stability can be improved by selecting the proper orifice size. Other design parameters also are proposed for stability enhancement.

목 적 : 최근 칸디다혈증의 발생율이 매우 증가하여 병원 감염의 중요한 원인으로 대두되고 있다. 이에 저자등은 칸디다혈증에 대한 임상적 특성을 알아보기위하여 다음과 같이 연구하였다. 방 법 : 1988년 1월부터 1993년 12월까지 경희대학부속병원에서 발생하였던 병원성 칸디다혈증 61예를 대상으로 의무기록지를 검토하였다. 결 과 : 1) 연도별 발생 빈도는 1988년 부터 1933년까지 각각 2예, 7예, 9예, 11예, 15예, 17예로 증가하였으며, 최근에는 non-albicans 균주에 의한 감염이 증가하고 있었다. 2) 연령분포는 4-83세였으며 평균연령은 51.0±17.4세였고, 남자 32예, 여자 29예였다. 50대와 60대가 57.3%로 가장 많았다. 3) 균주별 발생빈도는 C. albicans 30예, C. tropicalis 13예, C. parapsilosis 10예, C. glabrata 6예, C. guilliermondii 1예, C. krusei 1예로서 C. albicans가 가장 많았다. 4) 기저질환으로 뇌혈관계질환이 25예(41%)로 가장 많았으며, 외과적질환 11예(18%), 고형악성종양 10예(16.4%), 혈액종양질환 9예(14.8%), 기타 내과적질환 6예(9.8%)였다. 5) 균주간 선행인자는 비슷하였으나, C. albicans와 C. tropicalis에서는 수술을 시행받은 예가 많았고, C. parapsilosis는 정주 영양 공급을 받은 경우가 많았다. 6) Amphotericin B 치료군(20예)과 fluconazole 치료군(11예) 사이에 예후에서 유의한 차이는 없었다. 7) 총 61예중 28예에서 사망하여 사망율은 45.9%였으며 정형외과적 수술을 시행받은 경우(83.3%)와 C. glabrata인 경우 사망율이 가장 높았다(83.3%). 결 론 : 칸디다 혈증은 중요한 병원 감염으로 대두되고 있으며 최근에는 non-albicans 진균주에 의한 병원성 칸디다 혈증의 발생율이 증가하는 추세이다. Background : The aim of this study is to determine the annual occurrence of nosocomial candidemia, the relation between Candida species and underlying illness, the relation bewteen Candida species and predisposing factors, and also to compare between the outcome of candidemia of the amphotericin B treatment group and that of the fluconazole treatment group. Methods : We reviewed medical records of 61 cases with nosocomial candidemia between 1988 and 1993 in Kyung Hee University Hospital retrospectively. Results : Two cases occurred in 1988, 7 in 1989, 9 in 1990, 11 in 1991, 15 in 1992, and 17 in 1993. The incidence of candidemia by non-albicans species has increased during this period and accounted for 64.7% in 1993. The infecting candida species were C. albicans(30 cases, 49.2%), C. tropicalis(13 cases, 21.3%), C. parapsilosis(10 cases, 16.4%), C. glabrata(6 cases, 9.8%), C. guilliermondii(1 case, 1.8%), and C. krusei(1 case, 1.8%). The most common underlying disease was cerebrovascular disease(41%) followed by surgical disease(18%), solid cancer(16.4%), hematological malignancies(14.8%), and other medical illness. There were no significant differences between the amphotericin B treatment group(n=20) and the fluconazole treatment group(n=11) in mortality. Overall mortality was 45.9%. The highest mortality was in patients with previous orthopaedic surgery(83.3%) and with C. glabrata candidemia(83.3%). Conclusion : Candidemia emerged as an important hospital infection and candidemia caused by non-albicans species has significantly increased in recent years.

From a knowledge of the source impedence, the radiation impedence to the atmosphere and the four-pole parameters of all the sections of a silencer, it is possible to determine the transmission loss of the silencer. Since the gas in exhaust system of engine is flowing with high temperature we have to consider mean flow and temperature gradient effects to obtain accurate results. In this paper we will compare four-pole parameters with mean flow and linear temperature gradient effects with several other simpler cases already in the literature and then evaluate the availability of these in exhaust system.

The city is the social space with a lot of people having the various and different background and positions. That the city is the social space of high density means it is the space for convenient and comfortable life with the sense of community in frequent activities by overcrowded people and for this, intentional human behaviors within the city. From such a viewpoint, this research is to examine and analyze the publicity of external space of buildings with open space which is the important factor in improving the quality of city and the results of the research are as follows. It is found that the installation of open space has been made at the place where urban development is actively performed from the center of city with many users, but the open space which secures the comfort of the city and then attracts the people is not secured and is in the stage of legal restriction and the conversion of building owner's consciousness is needed. It is analyzed that most of open space are located at the front, but in fact there is no device which intercepts the eyes of pedestrian and open space users and since each space is divided by merely ground border, it is difficult to find the hierarchy or territory of two spaces and more considerations should be given for users. It is shown that the obligatory installations of open space such as bench are not equipped. Since the open space in urban area should be prepared in the side of publicity for users as well as for the urban comport, it is considered that the conversion of building owner's consciousness and institutional supports like incentive system should be followed. Moreover, open space have an influence on the diversification of architectural design, architects must consider the diversification of location, form and components of open space to make it an attractive space for users.
스마트 안테나에서 블라인드 기법을 이용한 Two Dimensional RAKE 수신기

Smart antennas technique is the scheme that focuses the signal on the desired user using array antennas. Therefore, the scheme can dramatically improve performances in conventional mobile communication systems. The scheme is the newest technique for beamforming. Its specific function combines antenna arrays with digital signal processing techniques that can control signal direction. Now, the scheme is known as the future generation core technique in communication provider communities. In this paper, we propose two dimensional rake receiver based on blind schemes in smart antennas and then compare the performance of the proposed scheme with that of the conventional scheme. Computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional scheme.
