This paper describes two traffic shaping methods for VBR(variable bit rate) video bit streams encoded in the MPEG-2 syntax. Difficulties in control of VBR video traffic are lessened by traffic shaping. Burstness of single layer MPEG-2 can be reduced by performing intra-refresh in more than one consecutive frames. In two layer encoding of spatial scalability, burstness can be reduced by setting the temporal locations of GOP starting frame of a layVBR 트래픽을 허용한다는 것이다. 모든 AAL er, differently from the other. MODELING OF WATER WAVE PROPAGATION OVER RAPIDLY VARYING TOPOGRAPHY

Recently the modified mild-slope equation has been developed by several research groups using different approaches, which, compared to the Berkhoff's mild-slope equation, includes additional terms proportional to the square of bottom slope and to the bottom curvature. It provides a useful tool for modeling water wave propagation over rapidly varying topography. This paper reviews recent efforts for modeling various wave propagation problems over rapidly varying topography using the modified mild-slope equation and discusses the situations in which the Berkhoff's mild-slope equation has some limitation.
Wave Reflection from Partialy Perforated Caisson Breakwater

기존의 전유공 케이슨 방파제로부터의 파 반사를 계산하기 위하여 개발된 Suh and Park의 이론 모형을, 케이슨 전면 하부의 연직벽을 경사가 매우 급한 경사벽으로 가정함으로써, 부분 유공 케이슨 방파제에 적용하였다. 또한, 이 모형에서, Kano and Liu가 제안한 차단계수를 이용하여 유공벽에서의 관성저항항을 수정하였다. 이 모형을 1993년도에 보고된 Park et al.의 수리실험 자료와 비교해 본 결과, 실험 자료 및 이론 모형 결과에서 모두 관성저항의 영향이 중요하여 B/Lc가 약 0.2일 때 반사율이 최소가 됨을 보이는데 (여기서 B=유수실의 폭, Lc=유수설 내에서의 파장), 이 값은 찬성저항의 영향을 무시했을 때 얻어지는 값 0.25보다 약간 작은 값이다. 또한 선형파 이론에 근거한 이 모형은 파의 비선형성이 증가함에 따라 반사율을 크게 계산하는 경향이 있음을 보이며, 따라서 이 모형은 파형경사가 작은 통상파에 적용하는 것이 바람직함을 알 수 있었다.있었다. The Suh and Park's analytical model. originally developed to calculate wave reflection from a conventional fully perforated caisson breakwater, is applied to a partially perforated caisson breakwater by approximating the vertical wall of the lower part of the front face of the caisson as a very steep sloping wall. Also, in the model, the inertial resistance term at the perforated wall is modified by using the blockage coefficient proposed by Kakuno and Liu. The model is compared against the hydraulic experimental data reported by Park et al. in 1993. Both the experimental data and the analytical model results show that the influence of inertial resistance is important so that wave reflection becomes minimum when B/L. is approximately 0.2 (in which R : wave chamber width, and 1, : wave length inside the wave chamber), which is somewhat smaller than the theoretical value B/L, : 0.25 obtained by assuming that the influence of inertial resistance is negligible. It is also shown that the analytical model based on a linear wave theory tends to overpredict the reflection coefficient as the wave nonlinearity increases, thus the model is preferably to be used for ordinary waves of small steepness.

The existence of a genetic predisposition to tardive dyskinesia (TD) in human has been suggested. The purpose of this study was to assess whether haloperidol induced extrapyramidal symptom (EPS) and TD are associated with the polymorphisms of the genes encoding for the catechol-o-methyltransferase and serotonin transporter in Korean schizophrenic patients. Male schizophrenic patients who underwent haloperidol treatment for more than 3 consecutive months were recruited as the subjects in two psychiatric hospitals. All of the patients were evaluated by the extrapyramidal symptom rating scale and abnormal involuntary movement scale. The incidence rate of TD patients with the COMTH/COMTH genotype was higher than those with the COMTH/COMTL and COMTL/COMTL types. There were statistically significant differences with respect to the effect of the 5-HTTLPR genotype on the incidence rate of patients with EPS. The COMTL allele played a more significant role in the incidence of TD than the 5-HTTPR L allele. According to our results, COMT was associated with the incidence of TD while 5-HTTLPR was associated with the incidence of EPS in the schizophrenic patients treated with haloperidol.
Bieomycin 과 Captopril 의 병용투여가 흰쥐 폐에 미치는 효과

Bleomycin is well recognized as an antineoplastic agent. Pulmonary toxicity is the most significant complication of bleomycin administration. The purpose of this study was to determine whether Captopril(an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor) can ameliorate pulmonary toxicity induced by bleomycin. Eighty mice were divided into two groups. The control group(n=40) received only bleomycin, and the other experimental group(n=40) received bleomycin in combination with captopril. Bleomycin was administered intraperitoneally to the mice, 8 mg/kg twice a week for 5 weeks. Captopril was administered in the feed at a regimen of 50 mg/kg everyday for 5 weeks. The animals were sacrified at 6 weeks later. Morphometric analysis with light microscopy was performed to the following parameters: the number of total pulmonary: cell count, percentage of consolidation of lung parenchyma and degree of fibrosis of lung parenchyma. The results were as follows; 1) In the control group, the number of total pulmonary cell count were 23.30±4.35/10(-8) ㎡ and the percentage of consolidation was 13.9±7.l%(P$lt;0.01). 2) In the experimental group, the number of total pulmonary cell count were 18.39±3.48/10(-5) ㎡ and the percentage of consolidation was 9.8±4.8%(P$lt;0.01). 3) There were no typical findings of pulmonary fibrosis in Massons trichrome stain, but early fibrotic change in the portion of severe consolidation and alveolar septal thickening in some control group. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that captopril ameliorates the pulmonary toxicity by bleomycin in the mice.

The yeast gene THR4 encodes the threonine synthase (EC.4.2.99.2) which catalyses the last step of the threonine biosynthesis pathway. A recombinant plasmid pYL1(vector YCp50) has been cloned into E. coli HB101 from a yeast genomic library through its complementing activity of thr4 mutation in a yeast recipient strain M21-59. When subcloned into pYL12(vector YCp50) and pYL121(vector YIpS), the ClaI-ClaI fragment (4.4 kbp) of pYL1 insert was positive in threonine complementing activity in M21-59. The KpnI linearized pYL121 was introduced into the original recipient yeast strain and mitotically stable chromosomal integrants were identified among transformants. Using the genetic method of the tetrad analysis, the integration site of pYL121 was localized to the region of THR4 structural gene at the expected right arm of yeast chromosome III. It was therefore genetically proved that the cloned ClaI fragment contains the yeast THR4 structural gene of the genomic origin.
