Bionatrol, specified emulsion nano-particle soybean oil, as a non-toxic natural bio-insecticide and minimum risk pesticide (US EPA, Canada PMRA regulation), was evaluated by field tests for insecticidal efficacy on two spotted spider mites (Tetranychus urtiae), aphids (Aphid gossypii), and whiteflies (Trialeurodes Vaporariorum) on greenhouse grown English cucumber (Cucumis ssp. kasa). Bionatrol had a relatively high mortality rate against insects. Phytotoxicity did not occur when Bionatrol at 0.2 and 0.3% was applied with an air blast sprayer. Net CO₂ assimilation on cucumber leaves was not reduced when Bionatrol was applied at concentrations of 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5%, but it was reduced by 4?6% with Bionatrol at 1 and 2%. Bionatrol reduced populations of the insects examined by 88?95%, but it had no harmful side effects on flowers, new and young leaves, and overall leaf growth of English cucumber.
Interactive Broadcasting Contents Authoring System

Under an interactive broadcasting environment, viewers not only watch broadcasting programs provided from a contents provider, but also pass their requirements to a service provider, obtain supplementary information to and search broadcasting programs. It is difficult, however, under the current production environment to access and provide supplementary information to the individual contents in a broadcasting program. This is because most of the current broadcasting programs are produced as a frame based single body and thus, can only be accessed in terms of a video/ audio frame as a whole. In order to access a program in terms of its component contents, it is required to develop a contents-based authoring system. This paper introduces a new authoring system, which can easily and conveniently produce an interactive contents-based broadcasting program by using MPEG-4/7 technologies. Interactive contents produced by using the presented authoring system can be effectively used in diverse broadcasting environments, such as data broadcasting, internet broadcasting and PVR-based broadcasting.

Multimedia data is now one of the widely used information in all the fields as the fast developments of computer techniques have been made. Traditional database systems based on textual information have limitations when applied to multimedia information. This is because simple textual descriptions are ambiguous and inadequate for searching multimedia information for multimedia databases and digital libraries. Thus, especially for image data, which is one of the important multimedia information types, there have been recently considerable interests in content-based image retrieval techniques, which can retrieve and browse image data on the basis of pictorial queries. Therefore, this paper presents an efficient method for describing texture information in image data.

현재와 같은 지식 기반의 사회에서 지식과 정보를 이용해 문제를 해결하는 능력은 매우 중요하다. 하지만 정보의 양과 문제 해결의 상황이 늘어나면서 단순사고만으로는 문제를 해결하기에는 한계가 있다. 정보 논리적 사고력은 컴퓨터의 문제 해결의 과정과 그 방법에 대한 판단여부를 통하여, 문제해결의 절차를 마련하고 이를 해결하기 위해 필요한 사고이다. 본 연구는 정보 교과 수업에서 학생들의 정보 논리적 사고를 신장하기 위해 안드로이드와 아두이노를 활용하여 커리큘럼을 구성하고 그 효과성을 입증하려 한다. 커리큘럼은 수업 도구로써 학생들이 익숙하고 쉽게 접할 수 있는 안드로이드 기반의 스마트 기기와 아두이노를 활용하여 다양한 상황에서 대한 문제와 그 해결방법으로 구성한다. 학생들이 익숙한 도구를 사용함으로써 수업에 집중력 향상과 이를 통한 정보 논리적 사고의 신장을 기대한다.
Hybrid interactive data service architecture over T-DMB with mobile network

<P>There have been lots of technical developments in broadcasting field since 1990s. Providing high quality video and audio is one improvement and supporting mobile reception in a high-speed vehicle is another. Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB) is one of the successfully deployed technologies to provide mobile broadcasting service. One of the major breakthroughs achieved by T-DMB in addition to robust vehicular reception is a system architecture naturally enabling integrated interactive data services, which is defined by MPEG-4 System architecture composed of Object Descriptor Framework and Binary Format for Scene (BiFS) technology. However, interactive service in T-DMB has two fundamental limitations. First, interactive data service should be always rendered on top of a video due to the T-DMB specification. Second, initial data for interactive service is only received by broadcasting channel. These limitations prevent the implementation of emerging data service recently deployed widely by the smart handheld devices such as personalized data service customized for the user characteristics or location-based data service. Therefore, this paper proposes the architecture of hybrid interactive data service (HIDS) for T-DMB to overcome these limitations by defining a hybrid BIFS, which supports individual scene descriptions delivered from broadcasting and mobile channels, and is accessed from the local memory. This proposed architecture also maintains backward compatibility with the already deployed legacy T-DMB receivers.</P>
Fast Algorithms for Binary Dilation and Erosion Using Run-Length Encoding

Fast binary dilation and erosion algorithms using run-length encoding (RLE) are proposed. RLE is an alternative way of representing a binary image using a run, which is a sequence of ‘1’ pixels. First, we derive the run-based representation of dilation and erosion and then present the full steps of the proposed algorithms in detail.
