Tetrodotoxin is a neurotoxin produced by about 90 species of puffer fish and causes paralysis of central nervous system and peripheral nerves by blocking the movement of all monovalent cation. Ingestion of tetrodotoxin produces clinical manifestations such as paresthesias(within 10-45 min), vomiting, lightheadedness, salivation, muscle twitching, dysphagia, difficulty in speaking, convulsion and death that expressed by cardiopulmonary arrest with loss of brain stem reflex sometimes. Tetrodotoxin prevents or delays ischemia induced neuronal death by way of following 3 mechanisms. Firstly, it reduces the energy demand of the brain tissues. Secondly, it delays or even prevents anoxic depolarization. Finally, it deminishes ischemia induced cell swelling and cerebral edema. We report a case of puffer fish poisoning which presented with cardiopulmonary arrest and loss of brain stem reflex, but completely recovered by aggressive cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The reaction conditions were investigated to prepare the hardened oil with suitable properties from Camellia japonica oil by catalytic hydrogenation in batch reactor at atmosphere. The nickel-based catalysts were used, and the hydrogenation activity of the catalyst was measured as iodine value. The commercial Pricat-9920 catalyst was highly active. The hydrogenation rate over Pricat-9920 catalyst was increased with increasing reaction temperature to 180℃, but decreased over 180℃ because the dissolution of hydrogen in the oil was difficult at high temperature. Also, the rate depended on the amounts of catalyst used, the flow rate of hydrogen, and agitation rate, which were deeply related to the diffusion of hydrogen in the pore of the catalyst. The hardened oil with melting point 30~40℃ was obtained at reaction time 4~6hr, reaction temperature 180℃, the amounts of catalysts 0.2%Ni(w/v), and the flow rate of hydrogen 50cc min^(-1). The relationship between iodine value and melting point was linear, so the iodine value could be easily estimated from the melting point.

Many assembly language programmers in an embedded industry do not follow GNU format, but adhere to their own style. Due to this reason, it is difficult for system software constructors to establish the GNU software development environment. In this paper, we present the implementation of GNU Binutils for non-GNU format assembly languages for our target processor, BIT. The contributions of this paper are: 1) providing a convenient methodology to translate the non-GNU style assembly code into the GNU assembly language format, 2) introducing porting processes within the GNU binutils for the specific embedded processor.

Purpose: Alcohol ingestion is a significant risk factor for injuries. However, the influence of high blood alcohol concentration about the severe traumatic injury is controversial. The aim of study was to analyze the injury severity, prognosis in severe traumatic patients according to alcohol ingestion. Methods: This study was performed retrospectively with severe traumatic patients (Injury Severity Score≥16) who visited the emergency department at Pusan National University Hospital from January 2013 to December 2013. Results: In total 98 severe traumatic patients, blood alcohol concentration (BAC) positive group (BAC>30 mg/dl) is 42 (42.90%) patients and BAC negative group (BAC≤30 mg/dl) is 56 (57.10% )patients. Head and neck injury is significantly high in BAC positive group (35 patients, 83.3%) compared to BAC negative group (33 patients, 58.9%). Comparison of injury severity, outcome and mortality is not significantly different between two groups. Conclusion: In severe traumatic patients, head and neck injury occurred high in BAC positive group. Alcohol ingestion did not influence injury severity, outcome in severe traumatic patients. However, effort to decreasing injury related to alcohol ingestion and prospective multi-center study is needed. [ J Trauma Inj 2014; 27: 108-14 ]
