      • 상악골 결손 환자의 보철물 장착전후 음성변화에 관한 임상적 연구

        The degree of hypernasality has been assessed by the listener's judgements, but perceptual assessments have poor scientific reliabilities. So the objective instruments with diagnostic accuracy have been needed to test hypernasality. This study analyzed the nasalance score using Nasometer after prosthetic treatments in three patients with hemimaxillectomy. The simple vowels, /a/ and /i/, were tested for the degree of hypernasality before and after prosthetic treatments. Also we used high-speed analysis system using PC with DSP for assessment of resonance. The testing words were consisted of simple vowels, /a/ and /t/. The obtained results were as follows. 1. Nasalance of the patients with prosthetic treatments were decreased about 25∼93%. 2. The first Formants of the patients with prosthetic treatments were decreased, and these results showed the forward movements of tongue. 3. The voice onset time has decreased by 56.57ms in comparison with preprosthetic state, and these results meant articulation reactions after prosthetic treatments were better than those of preprosthetic state.

        The construction industry in the 21st century has been experiencing swift transformation from explosive demands for new buildings amid rapid economic growth in the past to maintenance and remodeling markets of existing buildings, together with ever becoming classy and diversified consumer distribution. Keeping pace with these changes in the market, the government continues to announce a series of plans to encourage remodeling rather than re-construction. As re-construction faces many legal constraints, extensive studies have been made on how to extend the lifespan of existing buildings through systematic maintenance efforts, while remodeling market for old buildings are growing steadily. Therefore, this study is designed to analyze satisfaction and problems through post occupancy evaluation of remodeling apartment buildings and thereby suggest data for remodeling practices for the future.

      • 도재수복물의 표면 첨색시 온도에 따른 색조안정성과 표면조도의 평가

        The effects of oven firing on the color stability and surface texture of extrinsic stains used characterization and color modification of metal ceramic restoration were studied by comparing different temperatures and techniques. They were autoglaze technique, applied glaze technique, two step low-fusing glaze technique and one step low-fusing glaze technique. Autoglaze technique and applied galze technique were air-fired to manufacturer's recommended temperature. Two step low-fusing glaze technique is seperated staining and overglazing. Thin slurry of stain powder were air-fired to 1500℉. Overglaze powder was than mixed with stain medium and air-fired to 170℉. One step low-fusing glaze technique in combined staining and overglazing. Thin slurry of stain and glaze powder were air-fired to 170℉. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Slightly significant color differences by colorimeter were found between different stain application and fusion techniques(P<0.05). 2. Two step low-fusing glaze method showed the most rough surface, especially ceramco orange stain(P<0.05). 3. Surface roughness increased gradually in order of autoglaze, applied glaze, one step low-fusing glaze but they were not significantly different(P<0.05). 4. When two step low-fusing glaze was applied, both color measurement and surface texture were significantly different from other groups(P<0.05).

        중합방법이 다른 의치상 레진의 적합도 평가

        In addition to continuing the search for more accurate and dimensionally stable materials for denture bases, recently several processing methods for denture base resins which may reduce dimensional change during fabrication has been developed. The purpose of this study was to compare the dimensional accuracy of denture bases cured by four denture base processing methods, using the conventional heat-compression molding method, the continuous-pressure injection method, the microwave curing processing method, and the Sulfone system. A metal die simulating a maxillary edentulous arch and a polyvinylsiloxane impression(Reprosil, L. D. Caulk Co. U.S.A.) were used to construct 40 simulated master casts and denture bases with artificial teeth. Forty simulated denture bases 3 to 4㎜ thick were processed by four denture base processing methods following the manufacturer's instructions. The processed denture bases and casts sectioned through the posterior palatal region to allow measurement of its change by means of an travelling microscope. Observations were made on center of posterior palatal sectioned region. One-way ANOVA and paired samples t-tests were employed to compare the differences in distortion after deflasking and after finishing and polishing. The obtained results were as follows; 1. After deflasking, dimensional changes were diminished in order of conventional heat-compression molding, Sulfone system, continuous-pressure injection method, microwave processing method(p<0.05). 2. After finishing and polishing, dimensional changes were diminished in order of conventional heat-compression molding method, Sulfone system, microwave processing method, continuous-pressure injection method. The significant difference was found between conventional hear-compression method, continuous-pressure injection method(p<0.05). 3. The significant difference was found between after deflasking and after polishing in all methods, except continuous-pressure injection method(p<0.05).

      • 유리단 국소의치 장착 후 M.K.G.에 의한 하악운동 형태 및 속도의 변화

        The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of distal extension partial denture on the mandibular movement patterns and velocity. The subjects are 10 patients who have unilateral or bilateral distal extension edentulous area in maxillary and/or mandibular arches. Their mandibular movement patterns and velocity had been measured by Mandibular Kinesiograph(M.K.G.-K6 diagnostic system, Myo-tronics Inc. Seattle. WA. U.S.A.) once just before the treatment and 8 times every week since the dentures were placed. The data have been analyzed statistically by means of ANOVA and Tukey test. The results have been obtained as follows : 1. The placement of the dentures has reduced the amount of vertical and antero-posterior displacement in the habitual mandibular movement significantly(p<0.01). 2. The maximum opening and closing velocity and the mean opening and closing velocity showed no significant change with the placement of the partial dentures(p>0.01). 3. The velocity trace of maximum opening-closing movement has been more regularized and well-coordinated, and the number of clicks decreased continuously after placement of the dentures and showed stable patterns since the 5th week(p<0.01). 4. The left deviation has been decreased significantly after the placement of the dentures and showed no significant change since the 4th week. The right deviation has also been reduced, but there was shown no difference after the 1st week(p<0.01). 5. The crossover pattern has been most frequently observed in the frontal plane and the sagittal plane. It has not been changed with the denture placement and stabilized uniformly.

      • 탄성 의치상 이장재의 캔디다 알비칸스 부착도에 관한 실험적 연구

        The purpose of this study is to compare the response of four commercially available soft denture lining materials to the growth of C. albicans in vitro. Twelve samples of each soft lining materials were made to a uniform size and volume(15×5×4㎜) and sterilized using ethylene oxide. The samples were individually placed in culture tubes containing 5㎖ of sterile SDB(sabouraud dextrose broth dehydrated) and 0.1㎕ of activated C. albicans(ATCC 10231). The culture tubes had been incubated in incubator at 37℃. Three samples of each material had been tested at 3, 21, 35 and 56 days to determine the number of adherent cells of C. albicans on their surfaces and the number of nonadherent cells in the broth associated with each samples. The data have been analyzed by ANOVA and Scheffe test. The results have been obtained as follows : 1. In growth patterns of C. albicans within soft lining materials, Molloplast-B and K-33 were significantly higher(p<0.01) compared with Coe-Soft, but there was no significant difference between Coe-Soft, Coe Super-Soft and Mollosil(p>0.05). 2. Molloplast-B showed significantly higher(p<0.01) amounts of C. albicans adhering to its surface than other materials under experimental conditions. 3. Generally, adherence was significantly increased until 5 weeks, and after then showed decreased pattern in all materials(p<0.01). 4. The C. albicans was able to penetrate the inner portion of all samples. Coe-Soft showed most amounts of invaded C. albicans, followed in order by Mollosil, Molloplast-B, and Coe Super-Soft.

        유사체액에서의 전기화학적 처리가 티타늄 표면의 인산갈슘 흡착에 미치는 영향

        This study was performed to examine the effect of electrochemical treatment on the precipitation of apatite-like calcium phosphate in a simulated body fluid. Titanium plates of 20×20×1 ㎣ in dimensions were polished sequentially from #600 to #2,000 emery paper and one surface of each specimen was received an additional polishing sequence through 0.1㎛ alumina paste. To improve the bioactivity of titanium plates, they were electrochemically treated at 100 mA for 20 min in an electrolyte containing the calcium and phosphate ions, and the Hanks' solution with pH 7.4 at 36.5℃ for 30 days, and the surfaces were examined with X-ray diffractometer(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy(XPS). Precipitation of calcium phosphate and CaO were observed on the electrochemically treated titanium surface in a simulated body fluid after treatment at 600℃. Precipitation of calcium phosphate was densified and coarsened with increasing the temperature of the electrolyte solution in the range of 20-80℃. The calcium phosphate contained phosphate in the form of Po₄^3-, HPO₄^2-, and H₂PO₄^-.

      • 수종 탄성의치상 이장재의 물리적 특성에 관한 실험적 연구

        The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of storage time and condition on the weight change, dimensional stability and softness of six commercially available soft lining materials. Ten specimens each 1.8㎜ in thickness of soft lining materials were bonded to poly(methylmethacrylate) made in the form of circular disk 50㎜ in diameter and 1.5㎜ in thickness using steel molds, then stored in simulated mouth condition(artificial saliva, pH 7.4, 37±1℃). The specimens were tested after 0, 1, 7, 14, 28, 42 and 56days. The data were analyzed by one way analysis of variance with Duncan's multiple range test. The results of this study were obtained as follows : 1. For permanent soft lining material Mollosil showed a significant decrease in weight after 42days, for provisional soft lining material Coe Comfort showed a significant increase in weight after 28days(p<0.05) between the aging times. 2. For permanent soft lining material Coe Soft showed a significant increase in dimensional change after 42days(p<0.05), but the other gorups showed no significant difference between the aging times(p>0.05). 3. For Molloplast-B material a significant difference in softness was not found between the aging times(p>0.05), Coe Super-Soft showed a significant decrease in softness after 7days, and Coe soft, Mollosil, Visco-gel and Coe Comfort showed a significant decrease in softness after 28days(p<0.05).
