        草島의 草墳 : 草島 葬制에 관한 一考察

        It is commonly assumed that the culture of Korea is of Northern origin, but in veiw of new investigations in certain cultural elements of Korea, one has to take into account the hypothesis of a southern cultural influx in Korea. One of these elements will be investigated in this report : the burial system in the island of Tcho-do, superficie of 10,797 m2 with a total population of 3,525 persons. (1) Burial rites on the island Many of the burial rites in this island are similar to the whole of Korea and specially to te Kwang-ju Pusan area. Special to Tcho-do is that once the body has been laid in the coffin, the latter is buried in ground. (2) Grass mound On the place of burial, a platform of stones is prepared, on which the coffin is placed. In the form of a tent stram is put in layers and held togehter so that the wind cannot destroy it. (See photo 1 and 2.) Usually after three years, the bones are placed in a new coffin in the ground. Among the several reasons, given by the villageres, of keeping this custom, is the one that they received this way of doing from their forefathers. (3) Disttribution of grass-tombs In the historical books of Koguryo and Silla, one finds records concerning the practice of grass tombs and burials. Presently in several other southern islands, one finds a similar ritual with slight variations. Cfr. Publication of the National Museum of Korea; 1957. Even on the mainland, this form of burial was pratised until 40-50 years ago in the area of Keyong-nam and Cheon-nam provinces. This writer feels that ione can distinguish several main forms of ths type of burial. a) on the floor: drawing 2 b) stone platform burial: drawing 3+4 c) on wood in form of drawing 5+6+7 d) wood in form of Y: drawing 8 e) on or by a tree; drawing 9+10 (4) Distribution of re-burial forms One finds the form in (North) 'Siberia. In the South, one has the so colled Earth burial of Formosa. Also in several provinces of China from B.C. 3, 000 up to the present a similar type of burial is practised. Similarities with the Korean type can be found in certain burial types of the Ryu-kyu islands in Japan. In Indonesia and the Philipines one finds also the re-burial type. One can distinguish them also in Melanesia, Australia, Polynesia, and Micronesia. Of course, the indians of North Amarica have to be mentioned. (5) Conclusion It seems that this type of burial is more wide spread in the South and can be traced to a southern cultural influence. Re-burial has to be put in connection with respect to the forefathers. It is not certain that there is a relation with Matriarcat. This type of burial was practised from Neolithic times. But one can argue if it has to be put in relation with rice-cultivating people or with field-burning people. The problem of diffusion and acculturation of this burial-type have to be dug into; the dolmen type burial has to be investigated in relation with this type of burial for possible connections.

        거리의 도상성원리와 영어여격교체현상

        An Iconicity-theoretic Approach to the English Dative Alternation Construction Kim, Kwang-Hyun · Hwang, Kyu-Hong This paper aims to examine the semantic and structural differences between the double-object construction and its prepositional counterpart based on Haiman's (1980, 1983, 1985) iconicity theory. The alternation phenomena have attracted a great deal of attention, and a range of proposals have been put forward to account for them. In particular, an attempt has been made among the majority of scholars to differentiate the double-object construction and its corresponding dative construction by resorting to the differences in verb meaning and those in relation between arguments. To achieve the above goal, in this paper, we attempt to identify the subtle meaning differences between the two constructions by way of the distance principle of the iconicity theory: "the linguistic distance between expressions corresponds to the conceptual distance between them." Namely, we argue that the double-object construction is used when the agent and the recipient are conceptually close, while the dative counterpart is used when the conceptual distance between the two is remote. This line of approach seems to be appealing in that it can explain the differences between the constructions more explicitly and systematically and in that it can also account for other alternation phenomena such as locative and conative constructions in a similar context.

        Development of effective hydrogen storage technology is essentially needed to establish an efficient hydrogen energy system connected to the technologies of hydrogen production and utilization. Generally, hydrogen storage technology can be divided into 3 principal methods using compressed hydrogen, liquefied hydrogen, and metal-hydrided hydrogen, and currently, all of these hydrogen storage methods have been developed and commercially used. The hydrogen storage method using compressed hydrogen has been the most prevailing so far, but due to its safety problem following the use of high pressure(ca. 15MPa), the hydrogen storage method employing metal hydrides has also been investigated and improved consistently. In this study, a hydrogen storage tank that can store 5,000ℓ of hydrogen gas has been designed and manufactured, and its capability to be used as an efficient hydrogen storage container has been reviewed. The alloy, the formula of which is MmNi_4.7Al_0.3(Mm=misch metal), has been manufactured in the high-frequency induction heating vacuum furnace. The structure of the tank is inside-finned tube bundle type with 24 alloy particle packed tubes.

        장애아동의 신체활동 프로그램 참여에 대한 부모의 인식

        Most of Adapted Physical Activity(APA) professors say that knowledges about APA have been developed certainly in these years. However, some people think that realities have not changed much. What is the reason? Although so many studies have been presented, we are not able to seek for the studies related parents' perception of APA. The purpose of this study was to analyze parents' perception about their children's participation in APA program regularly. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with parents(8 mothers and 2 fathers) and data were analyzed utilizing qualitative content analysis. After regular APA programs participation, Parents' perception changed more clearly and concretely about definition of the physical activities and the adapted physical activity programs. In addition the parents thought that their children with disabilities need more adapted physical activities. Moreover, they insisted that these APA programs must be provided to young children with disabilities early.

        The direct boundary element method has been formulated In which the symmetry condition is introduced. The displacement approach of the finite element method has been reviewed where the joint stiffness formulation is included. The coupling of boundary and finite element methods is derived for both equivalent boundary and finite element approaches. A computer program based on the coupling of boundary and finite element methods was developed to analyze the elastic behavior of a structure. Another computer program based on the finite element method alone was developed to solve the same soil mass which were assumed to be linearly elastic, isotropic, and homogeneous. The characteristics of joint elements are that they will separate in response to tension, slide in response to shear, and transmit any force in response to compression. The limitation of no transfer of tensile stresses across soil/structure interface was ensured by employing iterative schemes on joint elements. The iterative solution to simulate real properties of joint elements is based on the so called "load transfer method" An example problem of soil-structure interaction problem has been analyzed using the two numerical methods indicated above. Comparison of the results of nodal displacements obtained from both techniques and the software CRISP demonstrates the accuracy and validity of the coupling of boundary and finite element methods. Due to the fact that the dimensionality of the boundary element region is reduced, the equations generated by the coupling of boundary and finite element methods are fewer than the equations generated by the finite element method alone in acquiring the same acruracy. Therefore, the coupling of boundary and finite element methods is more efficient than the finite element method alone in solving a complex soil-structure interaction problem.

        In this paper, the relation between the local stress and the fatigue behavior at gusset plate connected with main girder and floor beam in arch bridges was obtained. The conclusion was as follows : (1) In-plane bending moment and out-of-plane bending moment are higher than other internal stress resultants. (2) When a vehicle crosses the bridges, the change of out-of-plane bending moment corresponds with the change of relative difference in displacement in the longitudinal direction between the tie-girder and stringer. (3) The change of in-plane bending moment corresponds with the change of the displacement in the transverse direction of arch-rib. (4) Fatigue crack can be initiated by in-plane bending stress that is produced by out-of-plane bending moment at the toe of gusset plate. (5) Fatigue crack can be initiated by tension stress that is produced by in-plane bending moment at the toe of gusset plate.
