      • Material Modeling and Springback Prediction of Ultra Thin Austenitic Stainless Steel Sheet

        Rahul K. Verma,Satoko Murakoso,Kwansoo Chung,Toshihiko Kuwabara 한국소성가공학회 2010 기타자료 Vol.2010 No.6

The constitutive model with combined isotropic-kinematic hardening along with hardening stagnation (or permanent softening) [Verma, Kuwabara, Chung, Haldar: Int. J. Plasticity (submitted)] was used here for modeling the tension-compression behaviors of a 0.1 mm thick austenitic stainless steel sheet (SUS304), which was observed in a recent work [Kuwabara and Murakoso: Proc. CIRP 2010 Conf. (submitted)]. Springback was also experimentally measured for a shallow drawn rectangular cup here and it was verified using the above model. It was found that this model can successfully predict the Bauschinger effect and hardening stagnation. As for springback, it was found that in this particular case it depends on, other than the material model, factors like boundary conditions, in the finite element analysis (FEA), during unloading. It was also observed that incorporation of the Bauschinger effect and permanent softening is a key for accurate springback prediction and, therefore, the present model performs better than the one which is based only on isotropic hardening without any hardening stagnation.

LINEAR ANALYSIS OF PARKER-JEANS INSTABILITY WITH COSMIC-RAY

KUWABARA TAKUHITO,KO CHUNG-MING The Korean Astronomical Society 2004 Journal of The Korean Astronomical Society Vol.37 No.5

We present the results of the linear analysis for the Parker-Jeans instability in the magnetized gas disks including the effect of cosmic-ray diffusion along the magnetic field lines. We adopted an uni-formly rotating two temperature layered disk with a horizontal magnetic fields and solved the perturbed equations numerically. Fragmentation of gases takes place and filamentary structures are formed by the growth of the instability. Nagai et al. (1998) showed that the direction of filaments being formed by the Parker-Jeans instability depends on the strength of pressure outside the unperturbed gas disk. We found that at some range of external pressures the direction of filaments is also governed by the value of the diffusion coefficient of CR along the magnetic field lines k.

      • Characterization in Terms of the NUX Rule of G-inserted Mutant Hammerhead Ribozymes with High Level of Catalytic Power

Kuwabara, Tomoko,Warashina, Masaki,Kato, Yoshio,Kawasaki, Hiroaki,Taira, Kazunari Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2001 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.34 No.1

Attempts using in vitro and in vivo selection procedures have been made to search for hammerhead ribozymes that have higher activities than the wild-type ribozyme and also to determine whether other sequences might be possible in the catalytic core of the hammerhead ribozyme. Active sequences selected in the past conformed broadly to the consensus core sequence except at A9, and no sequences were associated with higher activity than that of the hammerhead with the consensus core, an indication that the consensus sequence derived from viruses and virusoids is probably the optimal sequence [Vaish et al. (1997) Biochemistry 36, 6495-6501]. Recently, during construction of ribozyme expression vectors, we isolated a mutant hammerhead ribozyme, with an insertion of G between A9 and G10.1, that appeared to show significant activity [Kawasaki et al. (1996) Nucleic Acids Res. 24, 3010-3016; Kawasaki et al. (1998) Nature 393, 284-289]. We, therefore, characterized kinetic properties of the G-inserted mutant ribozymes in terms of the NUX rule. We demonstrate that the NUX rule is basically applicable to the G-inserted ribozymes and, more importantly, one type of G-inserted ribozyme was very active with $k_{cat}$, value of $6.4\;min^{-1}$ in 50 mM Tris-HCl (pH 8.0) and 10 mM $MgCl_2$ at $37^{\circ}C$.

Characterization in Terms of the NUX Rule of G - inserted Mutant Hammerhead Ribozymes with High Level of Catalytic Power

Associations between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level and skeletal muscle mass and lower limb muscle strength in Japanese middle-aged subjects

        Akiko Kuwabara,Naoko Tsugawa,Hiroshi Kondo,Misora Ao,Hitomi Fujiwara,Natsuki Hosokawa,Shiho Matsumoto,Kiyoshi Tanaka,Tetsuo Nakano 대한골다공증학회 2017 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.3 No.1

Objectives: One of the important risk factors of falling is decreased muscle mass and muscle strength. Recently, there has been an increasing concern on the role of vitamin D in muscle strength and physical activity. Aim of our study is to examine the relationships between vitamin D status and muscle mass and muscle strength in middle-aged healthy adults. Methods: Subjects were 40 healthy volunteers aged 42.0 ± 10.6 years old. Evaluation was made for serum vitamin D3 metabolites including 25- hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] and 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [24,25(OH)2D3] concentrations, lower limb muscle strength, and dietary intake by food frequency questionnaire. Body composition was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and appendicular skeletal mass index (ASMI) was calculated as skeletal muscle mass/squared height. Results: 70% of the subjects had vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency (serum total 25(OH)D < 20 ng/mL), and female subjects had significantly lower serum total 25(OH)D level compared with males. Vitamin D insufficiency/deficiency group had significantly higher body fat, lower SMI and muscle strength, probably reflecting higher percentage of female subjects. Serum vitamin D3 metabolites levels were significantly correlated with whole and site-specific ASMI, and lower limb muscle strength, except for the correlation between serum 24,25(OH)2D3 concentration and lower limb muscle strength. In addition, serum 25(OH)D3 level was a positive significant predictor for both ASMI and lower limb muscle strength, while serum 24,25(OH)2D3 level was not their significant predictor. Conclusions: Serum 25(OH)D3 level was significantly correlated with both skeletal muscle mass and lower limb muscle strength.

      • 正倉院文書の「笑」と「箟」

桑原祐子(Kuwabara Yuko) 부산대학교 일본연구소 2011 日本硏究 Vol.12 No.-

Spin Behavior in a Quarter Rotation of the Magnetic Field

Hitoshi Kuwabara,Yasushi Yamauchi,Andrew Pratt 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.9

The spin rotation of a particle after a quarter rotation of an external magnetic field is calculated numerically and discussed both in the adiabatic and the nonadiabatic schemes. Adding to the wellknown fully adiabatic case, we find that the spin rotates a quarter turn along the magnetic field’s direction when the transient time of the magnetic field matches closely but not exactly the Larmor precession period or its multiples.

      • Management of Pregnancy Complicated with SLE

        Yoshinori, Kuwabara 中央醫學社 1997 中央醫學 Vol.62 No.9

Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) is a disease that primarily affects women of child-bearing age. Whether SLE is affected by pregnancy and whether the likelihood for a successful outcome is reduced in patients with SLE are issues of concern. The question whether pregnancy adversely affects SLE and causes a heightened incidence of clinical flares and/or increased severity of flares remains undetermined. Pregnancy in women with SLE are recognized to result in excessive fetal morbidity and mortality. Maternal autoantibody status may explain some of these problems. Anti phospholipids antibodies which were originally detected in patients with SLE, have been associated with recurrent fetal losses. Neonatal lupus syndrome(NSL), especially congenital complete heart block, is another issue of concern in pregnancies with SLE. NLS is a result of the transfer of auto antibodies produced by the mother, across the placenta, to the fetus and it is recognized as a model of passively acquired autoimmune mediated tissue damage. Since 1983, we have been managing more than 100 pregnancies with SLE in Juntendo University Hospital. In view of our experiences, I will present some topics in the management of pregnancy with SLE. The content of my presentation is as follows: 1. Pregnancy outcomes in women with SLE 2. Association of maternal auto antibodies with fetal outcome 3. Treatment of mother with anti phospholipids antibodies 4. Neonatal lupus syndrome 5. New management of high risk lupus pregnancy
