      • A Secure Data Classification Model in Cloud Computing Using Machine Learning Approach

        Cloud computing offers numerous benefits including scalability, availability and many services. But with its wide acceptance all over the globe, new risks and vulnerabilities have appeared too. Cloud computing provides facility of storing and accessing information and programs over the web without bothering the storage space on system. Storing the data on cloud eliminates one’s worries about space considerations, buying new storage equipment or managing their data, rather they are able to access their data any time from any place provided they have internet access. But the rising security problems have resisted the organizations from connecting with cloud computing completely. Hence security risks have appeared as the main disadvantage of cloud computing. This paper involves the efforts to analyze the security issues and then proposes a framework to address these security issues at the authentication and storage level in cloud computing. While addressing the security issues the first and the foremost thing is to classify what data needs security and what data needn't bother with security and hence data gets classified into two classes sensitive and non-sensitive. To achieve data classification, a data classification approach based on the confidentiality of data is proposed in this paper. Following that an efficient security mechanism has to be deployed by means of encryption, authentication, and authorization or by some other method to ensure the privacy of consumer’s data on cloud storage.

      • Multicasting Technique to Enhance the Performance of DSR Routing Protocol Using Various Performance Metrics under Different Traffic Conditions in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

        Development of an efficient routing protocol is one of the major key challenges in the design of Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). DSR reactive routing protocol is the most preferred routing protocol in MANETs due its capability to store already discovered routes in the node’s cache. In DSR routing protocol, in order to find a route to the destination, the source node broadcasts RREQ (Route Request) packets to its all neighbouring nodes and this broadcasting of RREQ packets results in more overhead. In this paper, we propose a multicasting technique to enhance the performance of DSR routing protocol and to reduce the broadcasting overhead. The performance analysis of DSR and enhanced DSR (EDSR) is carried out by varying number of nodes under different traffic conditions with different packet sizes and different network sizes. Also the performance analysis of DSR and enhanced DSR is carried out under different propagation models. The performance metrics used for the performance analysis of DSR and Enhanced DSR are Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Average End-to-End Delay, Throughput, Normalized Routing Load (NRL) and Energy Consumption.

        γ-Ray Shielding Behaviors of Some Nuclear Engineering Materials

        The essential requirement of a material to be used for engineering purposes at nuclear establishments is its ability to attenuate the most penetrating ionizing radiations, gamma (γ)-rays. Mostly, high-Z materials such as heavy concrete, lead, mercury, and their mixtures or alloys have been used in the construction of nuclear establishments and thus termed as nuclear engineering materials (NEM). The NEM are classified into two categories, namely opaque and transparent, depending on their behavior towards the visible spectrum of EM waves. The majority of NEM are opaque. By contrast, various types of glass, which are transparent to visible light, are necessary at certain places in the nuclear establishments. In the present study, g-ray shielding behaviors (GSB) of six glass samples (transparent NEM) were evaluated and compared with some opaque NEM in a wide range of energy (15 keV-15 MeV) and optical thickness (OT). The study was performed by computing various γ-ray shielding parameters (GSP) such as the mass attenuation coefficient, equivalent atomic number, and buildup factor. A self-designed and validated computer-program, the buildup factor-tool, was used for various computations. It has been established that some glass samples show good GSB, thus can safely be used in the construction of nuclear establishments in conjunction with the opaque NEM as well.

        Anatomy of Current Issues on Content-Based Image Retrieval

        내용기반 영상검색 분야에서의 활발한 연구로 지난 수년간 기술과 성능 면에서 괄목할 성장을 이룩해 내었다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 영상검색 시스템을 체계적으로 분석하여 아직까지 남아있는 취약점 및 개선 부분에 대하여 기술하였다. 특히, 의미론적 영상검색에 대하여 주안점을 두어, 시스템 향상을 위하여 심도있게 연구가 진행 되어야 할 분야의 방향 및 주제를 분류하고 분석하고 제안하였다. In the past few years, enormous improvements have been obtained in the field of content-based image retrieval(CBIR). This paper presents a comprehensive survey on the current CBIR systems and some of their challenging technical aspects, which stand as an obstacle on its way to become successful. Furthermore, we have focused on the current state of semantic image retrieval and also we have suggested future promising directions for further research.

      • Performance Analysis of Propagation Structures on DSR Routing Protocol in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

        Propagation structure has a vital role in designing the Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). Propagation structure is employed for computing signal strength about each data packet at the destination. Propagation Structures in MANETs are characterized into three categories such as Free Space structure, Two-Ray Ground structure and Shadowing structure. Here in this paper, the effect of Two-Ray Ground propagation structure and Shadowing propagation structure on the performance of DSR routing protocol is conferred. Propagation Structure has a great impact on the simulation results. The simulation is accomplished using NS 2 simulator and the various Performance Attributes used for the evaluation of the performance of DSR protocol are Average Delay, Packet Delivery Ratio, Energy Consumption and Throughput.

        Shear waves propagation in an initially stressed piezoelectric layer imperfectly bonded over a micropolar elastic half space

        The present study investigates the propagation of shear waves in a composite structure comprised of imperfectly bonded piezoelectric layer with a micropolar half space. Piezoelectric layer is considered to be initially stressed. Micropolar theory of elasticity has been employed which is most suitable to explain the size effects on small length scale. The general dispersion equations for the existence of waves in the coupled structure are obtained analytically in the closed form. Some particular cases have been discussed and in one particular case the dispersion relation is in well agreement to the classical-Love wave equation. The effects of various parameters viz. initial stress, interfacial imperfection and micropolarity on the phase velocity are obtained for electrically open and mechanically free system. Numerical computations are carried out and results are depicted graphically to illustrate the utility of the problem. The phase velocity of the shear waves is found to be influenced by initial stress, interface imperfection and the presence of micropolarity in the elastic half space. The theoretical results obtained are useful for the design of high performance surface acoustic devices.

        Development of male sterile transgenic lines in rice by tapetum specific expression of barnase gene

        The key to development of barnase-barstar transgene based hybrid seed technology is the availability of tightly regulated tapetum specific promoter, as any leaky expression of the barnase gene leads to several unintended effects. In the present study, we used two different tapetum specific promoters i.e. promoter of the RTS gene isolated from rice cultivar IR64 and the OsG6b promoter from japonica rice cultivar Hayayuki to express the barnase gene in rice transgenic lines. While viable male sterile transgenic lines could not be obtained with RTS promoter we could develop single copy male sterile lines when the barnase gene was expressed under the OsG6b promoter.
