『주상강위(走上崗位)』는 루안종핑(阮仲平)이라는 상하이 민족자본가에 초점을 맞춰 항일전쟁기의 도시사회를 그린 전체소설이다. 이번에 원문이 일본에서 간행되어 처음으로 우리 앞에 그 「전설의 장편」이 실체를 드러내었고 마오둔의 전체상에 한 발짝 다가갈 수 있는 귀중한 초석이 마련되었다. 이 논문에서는 마오둔의 작품군 중에서 『주상강위(走上崗位)』의 위치를 확인하기 위해서 『단련(鍛?)』과의 비교를 시도함과 동시에 『주상강위(走上崗位)』가 하나의 작품으로 독립되어 있는지 여부를 확인한다. “Zhoushang Gangwei” is a Roman Total portrays the city society during the period of anti-Japanese war. The “legendary full-length novel” has finally showed as the original texts in Japan, and therefore the readers would possibly have moved a step to catch Mao`s general view. This paper focuses on the position of “Zhoushang Gangwei” in Mao`s works of literature to clarify its` value as a Mao`s writing. Comparing the story to another novel “Duan Lian”, this paper reviews “Zhoushang Gangwei” and its` independent status among Mao`s works.

Population density of the citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (McGregor), in Japanese pear orchards remained low until mid-August, even after inoculation of pear leaves with a considerable number of adult female P. citri from May onwards. This raised the possibility that pear leaves contain a natural compound that suppresses an increase of P. citri populations. The rate of development from larva to adult was significantly lower on leaves collected in July than on leaves collected earlier or later, in several years. The population suppression was caused by molting inhibition and ovicidal activity, according to our close observation in the laboratory [Gotoh and Kubota (1997) Exp. Appl. Acarol. 21: 343-356]. To clarify whether a natural pear compound caused this molting inhibition, a methanol crude extract of pear leaves was isolated and added to a newly developed artificial diet, consisting of sodium caseinate, sucrose, levulose, glucose and inositol. The compound extracted from pear leaves resulted in the molting inhibition as observed on pear leaves. Based on infrared and NMR spectral analysis, the compound extracted from pear leaves closely resembled the synthetic acaricide hexythiazox. Furthermore, the LC50-values of the compound extracted from pear leaves for ovicidal activity of P. citri eggs and for inhibition of molting to protonymphs were similar to those of hexythiazox. These results strongly suggest that the molting deterrent extracted from pear leaves was in fact hexythiazox, an acaricide in use on pear trees, rather than a natural product. This suggestion becomes even stronger, considering that the molting inhibition was observed in a hexythiazox-spray year, but not in a non-spray year.

Background: Genetic variation of interleukin-28B (IL28B), encoding IFN-l3, predict non-responders to pegylated interferon-α/ ribavirin (Peg-IFN/RBV) therapy in chronic hepatitis C (CHC). However, it remains unknown whether IL28B is a functional phenotype, and why it failed to predict treatment responses at 20%. Methods: Message and protein levels of IFN-l3 induced by ex vivo stimulation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) with toll-like receptor agonists (TLR3; poly I: C, TLR7; R-837) were measured by quantitative real-time PCR and our newly developed chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassays, and compared with the clinical data. BDCA-3 or -4+dendritic cells (DC) was negatively or positively selected by Magnet-Associated Cell Sorting. Results: We firstly found that BDCA-4+DCs were the main producers of IFN-ls when stimulated with R-837 whereas BDCA-3+DCs were main producers of IFN-ls when stimulated with poly I: C, using PBMC from healthy volunteers. We also found that detectable levels of IFN-ls were inducible using small amount of PBMC by R-837, not poly I: C. When stimulated with R-837, IFN-l3 was more robustly up-regulated in the PBMC from CHC patients with favorable genotype (TT in rs8099917, n = 59) for the response to Peg-IFN/RBV than non-TT (n = 41) whereas no differences was observed in IFN-l1 or IFNl2, which may support our GWAS data. Importantly, protein levels of IFN-l3 induced by R-837 clearly differentiated the response to Peg-IFN/RBV treatment (p = 1.0×10-10), including discrepant cases such as VR in patients with TG/GG or NVR in TT genotype. Our method more accurately predicted treatment efficacies (95.7%) than IL28B genotyping (65.2%) did. Conclusions: Genetic variations in IL28B basically affect IFNl3 production, but different amount of IFN-l3 production determines the outcomes of Peg-IFN/RBV treatment. This study, for the first time, presents compelling evidence that genetic variations in IL28B confer a functional phenotype. Our method may provide more accurate prediction for the efficacy of Peg-IFN/RBV.
