In this paper the notion of Lie derivative of a tensor field T of type (1,1) of real hypersurfaces in complex space forms with respect to the generalized Tanaka-Webster connection is introduced and is called generalized Tanaka-Webster Lie derivative. Furthermore, three dimensional real hypersurfaces in non-flat complex space forms whose generalized Tanaka-Webster Lie derivative of 1) shape operator, 2) structure Jacobi operator coincides with the covariant derivative of them with respect to any vector field X orthogonal to ξ are studied.

Beach death assemblages of bivalve mollusks were studied with respect to their species composition in six localities along the eastern coast of Korea (Gangneung, Jumunjin, Daejin, Gallam, Jukbyeon, Hupo and Chooksan). In all, thirty-nine species belonging to 30 genera and 19 families were recorded, and species diversity between the sampling sites varied from 5 to 21. Biogeographical analysis showed that studied fauna has warm-water character with the predominance of subtropical and subtropical-lowboreal species and the presence of tropical-subtropical species (in total, 77 %), and only 23 % of mollusks found are cold-water and temperate species. The most abundant species were Septifer virgatus (Wiegmann, 1837), Mytilus galloprovinciallis Lamarck, 1819, Gomphina melanaegis Rmer, 1861, Ruditapes philippinarum (Adams et Reeve, 1850), Mactra chinensis Philippi, 1847 and Spisula sachalinensis (Schrenck, 1862).
The First Cases of Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss Post Coronavirus Disease in Children
Chrysouli Konstantina,Savva Ioannis Pavlos,Karamagkiolas Sotirios 대한청각학회 2024 Journal of Audiology & Otology Vol.28 No.1
To investigate the incidence, characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-related sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) in children, three cases of SSNHL after COVID-19 infection in children were analyzed. ENT clinical examination of all cases was normal. Only the third child had a first degree left-beating optokinetic nystagmus, compatible with right peripheral vestibulopathy. The audiogram indicated unilateral severe SSNHL in all frequencies. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the brain and temporal bones also showed absence of pathology of the related structures. Oral methylprednisolone was administered to the first two cases, whereas intravenous methylprednisolone in a tapering form was administered to the third case. Additionally, the children underwent intratympanic dexamethasone injections and hyperbaric oxygen therapy with hearing improvement in lower and middle frequencies. The prognosis of COVID-19-related SSNHL in children is closely related to the onset of treatment. The combination of glucocorticoids, intratympanic dexamethasone injections, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy could be effective for COVID- 19-related SSNHL in children. Further large-scale, multicenter studies should be conducted to investigate the pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of COVID- 19-related SSNHL.

Thiamine Deficiency in a Child with Short Bowel Syndrome and Review

Thiamine (vitamin B1) is a water-soluble vitamin that is not endogenously synthesized in humans. It is absorbed by the small intestine, where it is activated. Its active form acts as a coenzyme in many energy pathways. We report a rare case of thiamine deficiency in a 3.5-year old boy with short bowel syndrome secondary to extensive bowel resection due to necrotizing enterocolitis during his neonatal age. The patient was parenteral nutritiondependent since birth and had suffered from recurrent central catheter-related bloodstream infections. He developed confusion with disorientation and unsteady gait as well as profound strabismus due to bilateral paresis of the abductor muscle. Based on these and a very low thiamine level he was diagnosed and treated for Wernicke encephalopathy due to incomplete thiamine acquisition despite adequate administration. He fully recovered after thiamine administration. After 1999 eight more cases have been reported in the PubMed mostly of iatrogenic origin.
Real hypersurfaces in a non-flat complex space form with Lie recurrent structure Jacobi operator
George Kaimakamis,Konstantina Panagiotidou 대한수학회 2013 대한수학회보 Vol.50 No.6
The aim of this paper is to introduce the notion of Lie recurrent structure Jacobi operator for real hypersurfaces in non-flat complex space forms and to study such real hypersurfaces. More precisely, the non-existence of such real hypersurfaces is proved.

The hypothesis that incorporation of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) into nanoemulsions may increase its bioactivity compared with EGCG aqueous solutions was examined in mice. After an in vitro study in a model system with stimulated gastrointestinal conditions, the following EGCG nanoemulsions were used in a mice experiment: Emulsion I: emulsion water in oil (W/O), which contained 0.23 mg/mL EGCG in aqueous phase; Emulsion II: emulsion oil in water (O/W), which contained 10% olive oil and 0.23 mg/mL esterified EGCG in fatty phase; and Emulsion III: emulsion O/W in water (W1/O/W2; 8:32:60), which contained 32% olive oil and 0.23 mg/mL EGCG in aqueous phase. After 2 h of mice administration by gavage with 0.1 mL of EGCG nanoemulsions, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of plasma and some tissues (especially colon, jejunum, heart, spleen) was measured with Ferric-Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) and Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) assays. No toxic effects were observed after administration of 0.23 mg/mL esterified EGCG in CD1 mouse strain. The study concluded that administration of mice with the three EGCG nanoemulsions did not increase their TAC in specific tissues, compared with an aqueous EGCG solution at the same concentration. Nevertheless, the esterified EGCG emulsion (Emulsion II) exerted an increase in mice plasma compared with aqueous EGCG and showed higher values of TAC in several tissues, compared with Emulsions I and III. EGCG nanoemulsions could be considered a useful method in plethora functional food applications, but further research is required for safer results.
