        농업용수 수질기준의 문제점 및 개선대책 : 외국사례와의 비교를 통해

        우리나라 농업용수 수질기준과 다른 국가 또는 농업관련 국제기구의 수질기준에 대한 비교분석을 통해 우리나라 농업용수 수질기준의 문제점 도출과 해결방안을 모색코자 본 연구를 수행하게 되었으며, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 우리나라 농업용수 수질기준은 관개용수 수질기준이 아니고, 수원보호측면의 수질기준이라 할 수 있다. 2. 우리나라 수질기준중 유기물지표가 하천과 호소에 따라 BOD와 COD로 이원화되어 있고, 특히 COD의 경우 산화제로 KMnO4를 사용함으로써 효과적인 유기물지표로 활용할 수 없는 실정이다. 농업용수로의 활용측면에서는 K₂Cr₂O_(7)을 이용한 COD를 기준으로 도입하는 것이 유기물 분해능 및 수중의 유기물지표로 활용하고 있는 국제적 데이터 일치를 위해서도 타당하다. 3. 우리나라 농업용수 수질기준은 캐나다와 FAO에서 제시하고 있는 염류에 대한 기준은 거의 없는 실정이다. 또한 양이온에 대한 기준도 없다. 염류의 기준이 모든 이온 존재의 가능성을 의미하므로, 실험치 및 외국문헌에 의한 1.0dS/m수준을 한계농도로 선정해야 한다. 4. FAO와 캐나다에서 사용하고 있는 축산용수에 대한 수질기준이 없다. 5. 관개용 농업용수가 농업(작물)에 미칠 수 있는 영향을 평가하기 위해서는 수원별로 수질기준이 다른 것이 큰 모순이다. 따라서 관계부처에서는 부처간의 이해를 떠난 수질기준을 설정해야 한다. 6. 우리나라 농업용수 수질기준의 모순점을 극복하기 위해서는 농업의 안전성확보측면 위해 관개용수 수질기준과 축산용수 수질기준을 조속히 제정해야 할 것이다. Present problems and possible solutions on the Water Quality Standards for Agriculture in Korea, were identified in the study. Because the Ministry of Environment made the laws and standards without consulting the agri-scientists, among others, the water quality standards formulated were not suitable standards of FAO, Japan, Canada, and the likes. The BOD and COD are the organic materials indicators. In case of rivers, BOD are set for the indicator. And at reservoirs. COD are set. Especially. COD was analysed using KMnO₄It is not suitable oxidizing agent for COD. Because the oxidic capacity is very low. So, in most developed country, K₂Cr₂O_(7) is usually used to analyze COD. And the salts and cations are not belonged to the Korean Water Quality Standards for Agriculture. The water quality standards for agriculture have big differences among lakes, rivers and groundwater. To apply different standards by resources to evaluate the relationship between water and crops is conflicting. So, to overcome the these problems, the suitable water quality standards for irrigation and livestock should be set.

        왕우렁이(apple snails)의 생리ㆍ생태적 특성에 관한 연구

        왕우렁이가 자연상태에 전파되어 서식되는 경로는 양식장의 배수시, 홍수로 인한 노지 양식장 붕괴 및 제초용 왕우렁이 입식에 의하여 이루어지고 있다. 왕우렁이의 생리적 특성을 보면 알 크기는 2.47 ㎜, 난괴크기는 1.8×4.3×0.94 ㎝, 알무게 12.78 ㎎, 산란수 157∼784개/1마리(평균 321개/마리) 유체크기 1.69×2.15㎜, 유체 무게 3.32㎎ 최저 산란 왕우렁이 크기 2.40×2.26 ㎝ 이상, 1개알 산란소요시간 22.4초 였다. 알의 색변화는 산란직후 우유빛의 연분홍에서 중기에는 선홍색, 부화직전에는 흐린 연보라색으로 변화하면서 부화된다. 왕우렁이 섭식 대상은 벼, 논잡초, 미나리, 토마토, (양)배추, 무, 호박, 콩잎 등 대부분의 농작물을 포함한 식물체 및 동족의 왕우렁이 등 수중동물이었다. 왕우렁이 월동지역은 장항, 장성 및 해남지역으로 양지녘의 식물체 줄기나 벼 그루터기에 산란된 알과 성체 상태로 저수지나 논의 물웅덩이에서 월동고, 5월 중순이후 수로의 벽이나 식물체 줄기에 산란하며 6월과 9월에 번식이 가장 왕성하였다. 서식지 수질특성은 변이 폭이 컸으나 pH가 7.07∼9.50 범위로 알칼리성에서 주로 번성하였다. 왕우렁이에 의한 벼 가해 양상중 바 발아초기에는 왕우렁이 크기에 관계없이 모두 벼싹을 가해하였고, 벼품종과 생육시기에 따라 차이가 있으며 어린묘 일수록 가해율이 높았으며, 이앙후 45일 벼(초장 약 73 ㎝)도 각고 3.3∼3.5 ㎝ 이상의 중형 왕우렁이는 가해하였다. This experiment was carried out to obtain some information about overwintering, physiological and ecological characteristics of apple snails. Another purpose of this experiment was to characterize an appetite for rice plants by apple snails and to elucidate their choice of fresh green ones (vegetables, some other crops, weeds in rice fields). The freshwater snails were found with higher population at sites abundant organic compounds such as plant debris and at regions with high temperature. They also prefer calcium-rich water. This is a naturally occurring process. Apple snails were exceptionally well-adapted to the south regions of Korea, especially Janghang, Jangseong and Haenam, even if the temperature of winter season is cold below 0℃. Apple snails were not very selective in their food choice and eat almost everything available in their environment. A snail have something called a radula in its mouth for grinding up its food. A apple snail also chews on fruits and young succulent plant barks. In case of reproduction, apple snails deposit about 157~784 (average of 321 eggs) milky white to pale orange colored eggs above the waterline. In approximately every 22.4 seconds a new egg appears. The total time needed to deposit a egg mass varies from 58 minutes~4 hours 13 minutes. Apple snails reproduct actively from May to June and from September to October. An appetite of apple snails for rice plants was the different depending on their size and growing stage for rice plants. Apple snails had a great appetite of rice plants as well as dropwort, tomato, cabbage, radish, aquatic plants etc. They preferred to eat young rice plants and drastically quit eating rice plants of over 40 cm in height. Thus considering the food preference of apple snail for various plants including rice, they were thought to be a potentially strong predator in fields, especially, at regions with warmer winter.

        요추부 후방 골유합술시 제4요추 분절동맥의 손상에 의해 발생된 후복막하 혈종의 코일 색전술 치험 1례

        In spine sugery, iatrogenic vascular injury is unusual, and most common vascular injury is said to be a tear of the left common iliac artery. We report a case of retroperitoneal hematoma from lumbar segmental artery injury after posterior lumbar fusion and pedicle screw fixation. This 60-year-old woman presented with 6 months history of low back pain and radiating pain to the left lower leg. She complained of claudication after 10 meters walking due to spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis at L2-L5 level. She underwent multiple total laminectomy, posterior lumbar inter-body fusion, and transpedicular screw at L2-L5. During operation there was not evidence of complications such as bleeding. She complained of abdominal pain on post-operation I day and showed tenderness on left upper quadrant. Hemoglobin was 8.4 g/dL on postoperative laboratory examination. Abdominal CT scan revealed retroperitoneal hematoma. We performed angiography for evaluation of hematoma and found extravasation of dye at segmental artery of L4 level. We embolized the bleeding artery with coil successfully. Her postoperative abdominal pain and tenderness were relieved after then and discharged without pain or neurological deficit.

        동진강 유역내 하천의 특성별 영향평가

        본 연구는 동진강 유역의 수질 보전을 위한 기초자료를 얻기 위하여 동진강 본류와 이에 유입되는 정읍천을 대상으로 2001년 5월부터 11월까지 수질 모니터링을 실시하였다. 동진강 본류의 수질은 BOD기준으로 상수원 Ⅱ~Ⅳ등급(2.84~6.45 ㎎/L)으로 지점별로는 DJ6(정읍천 합류후)이 4.07㎎/L로 높게 나타나 Ⅲ급수의 수질을 유지하였다. COD는 지점별로 11.20~32.96 ㎎/L의 범위로 정읍천 합류후의 농도가 32.96 ㎎/L로 가장 높게 나타나 정읍천을 통한 본류의 오염물질량의 증가를 알 수 있었다. T-N의 경우 4.16~5.84 ㎎/L의 범위로 유역 전반에 걸쳐 오염이 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났고, T-P의 경우 BOD, COD와 마찬가지로 정읍천 합류후가 0.19 ㎎/L로 타 지점에 비하여 놀게 조사되었다. 본류의 COD의 경우 장마후 갈수기에 높은 농도를 나타냈고, T-P의 경우는 하천의 유량이 증가하는 홍수기보다 장마전 갈수기의 오염정도가 높고 이후 장마후 갈수기로 갈수록 수질이 악화되는 것으로 조사되었다. 동진강 수질의 오염은 주로 하류로 갈수록 그 정도가 심하게 나타나는데, 이것은 정읍천을 통해 유입되는 도시 생활하수와 인근 공장단지의 산업폐수가 그 주 요인으로 오염물질(BOD, COD T-N 및 T-P)의 농도가 상승하는 주원인이 되고 있다. 따라서, 동진강 수계의 수질관리를 위해 주 오염원이 되고 있는 정읍천의 도시생활하수와 공장단지에서 방류되는 산업폐수의 제어에 대한 대책이 먼저 이루어져야 할 것으로 판단된다. Irrigation water quality along Donjin river watershed was monitored to find a possible pollutants, for maintaining water quality to achieve food safety through water quality preservation of river. As a pollution indicators, such as Biological Oxygen Demand(BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD), Total Nitrogen(T-N), and Total Phosphate(T-P) in Dongjin river were examined from May to November in 2001. The results were as follows : The BOD level of Dongji n river ranged from 2.84 to 6.45 mg/L, which would be in a Ⅱ~Ⅳ grade of the potable water criteria by Ministry of Environment. Averaged BOD level of downstream DJ6(After Jeongupcheon confluence) was 4.07 mg/L. The average COD level of Dongjin river ranged from 11.20 to 32.96 mg/L. COD level of DJ6 rapidly increased rapidly after the junction of Dongjin river and Jungupcheon because it showed the latter had relatively high pollution level. T-N content were significantly high in all sites of Dongjin river ranged through 4.16 to 5.84 mg/L. T-P examined high concentration than another thing point by 0.19 mg/L after Jeongupcheon confluence as BOD and COD. COD of main stream was expressed high concentration to dry season after rainy season. In case of T-P, pollution degree of dry season before rainy season appeared and examined that quality of water was worsened go by dry season after rainy season. The water quality of Dongjin river was deteriorated with inflow of Jungupcheon polluted by municipal and industrial sites near Jungup city.

        Many of the growth-promoting properties of growth hormone(GH) are mediated by insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I), a highly conserved circulating 70-amino acid peptide. Recent studies have shown that multiple mechanisms influence IGF-I gene expression, including transcription from two promoters, alternative RNA splicing, and variable polyadenylation. In thyroid tissue, thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) and IGF-I are the most possible candidates for follicular cell proliferation and hypertrophy. Actually IGF-I had autocrine and paracrine effect for tissue growing. We prepared thyroid tumor tissue mRNAs using single step method for detecting IGF-I levels according to different tissues, i.e., thyroid adenoma or papillary thyroid carcinoma. We used Northern blot analysis for IGF-I mRNA and RNase protection assay (RPA) for IGF-I transcription start sites. For Northern blot, we used whole human IGF-I cDNA as a DNA probe and for RPA, we used IGF-I exon 1 containing noncoding promoter 1 as a riboprobe. We got good RNA bands from Northern blot analysis around 1 kb (IGF-IA) and 7.5 kb (IGF-IB) region. To clarify the amount of both IGF-IA and IB mRNAs, we measured autoradiographied signal of IGF-I mRNAs bands using densitometer. In IGF-IA signals, there's no change among liver and thyroid tissues, but in case of IGF-IB mRNA bands, the signal was markedly increased in thyroid carcinoma tissues than that of normal thyroid tissue (85% vs 14%). In the study of RPA, all thyroid tissues used the same transcription start sites as those of liver's. We concluded that that this different regulation of IGF-I mRNA was originated from tissue specificity. That meant some tissue specific transcription factor/s were related to tissue IGF-I expression.

        Fabrication of 3D interconnected porous TiO<sub>2</sub> nanotubes templated by poly(vinyl chloride-<i>g</i>-4-vinyl pyridine) for dye-sensitized solar cells

        <P>Porous TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanotube arrays with three-dimensional (3D) interconnectivity were prepared using a sol–gel process assisted by poly(vinyl chloride-<I>graft</I>-4-vinyl pyridine), PVC-<I>g</I>-P4VP graft copolymer and a ZnO nanorod template. A 7 µm long ZnO nanorod array was grown from the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass via a liquid phase deposition method. The TiO<SUB>2</SUB> sol–gel solution templated by the PVC-<I>g</I>-P4VP graft copolymer produced a random 3D interconnection between the adjacent ZnO nanorods during spin coating. Upon etching of ZnO, TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanotubes consisting of 10–15 nm nanoparticles were generated, as confirmed by wide-angle x-ray scattering (WAXS), energy-filtering transmission electron microscopy (EF-TEM) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The ordered and interconnected nanotube architecture showed an enhanced light scattering effect and increased penetration of polymer electrolytes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The energy conversion efficiency reached 1.82% for liquid electrolyte, and 1.46% for low molecular weight (<I>M</I><SUB>w</SUB>) and 0.74% for high <I>M</I><SUB>w</SUB> polymer electrolytes. </P>

        Cement Augmentation for Lateral Row Fixation in Rotator Cuff Repair : A Case Report

        One of the most important factors leading to a successful healing of rotator cuff tear is good bone quality to secure the suture anchor in the bone for a stable fixation. However, rotator cuff tear are commonly found in elderly patients, and their proximal humerus often shows osteoporosis or cystic lesions. Especially when the transosseous repair prevails for a torn rotator cuff, a weak metaphyseal cancellous bone is often the case, which associated with difficulty in stable fixation of the lateral row suture anchor. In this situation, we were able to augment the lateral row fixation with polymethylmethacrylate bone cement. Although there is a concern of disturbance in the blood flow and healing potential, our case showed good clinical results with respect to healing. If we suspect a weak fixation of the lateral row suture anchor, bone cement seems to be a good option for augmentation.

        Self-assembled structures of hydrogen-bonded poly(vinyl chloride-<i>g</i>-4-vinyl pyridine) graft copolymers

        <P>An amphiphilic graft copolymer of poly(vinyl chloride-<I>graft</I>-4-vinyl pyridine), i.e., PVC-<I>g</I>-P4VP was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and modified by introducing 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene (DHN) as a hydrogen bonding donor to form hydrogen-bonded macromolecules. The PVC-<I>g</I>-P4VP graft copolymer prepared from a selective solvent for PVC, i.e., tetrahydrofuran (THF) exhibited a well-organized micellar morphology consisting of a P4VP core and a PVC corona. However, the graft copolymer prepared from a good solvent for both domains, i.e., <I>N</I>, <I>N</I>-dimethylformamide (DMF) showed a less-organized, random microphase-separated morphology. Upon the introduction of DHN, a more spherical morphology and a more-organized ‘bicontinuous-like’ morphology was observed in THF and DMF, respectively. This results from strong segregation between the two domains due to the enhanced interfacial energy by DHN. When DHN was removed by methanol, nanoporous films with versatile pore sizes and shapes were generated. </P>

      • Influence of Amlodipine on Haemostatic Measurements during Clopidogrel Treatment in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

        <B>Abstract</B><P>Amlodipine has a potential to reduce clopidogrel bioactivation through the cytochrome P450 3A4 enzyme in vivo, but the clinical impact of this interaction remains controversial. This randomized, open-label, two-period, crossover study was performed to evaluate the influence of amlodipine on the haemostatic profiles of high-risk patients during clopidogrel treatment. We recruited 40 Asian patients (Male/Female: n = 36/4) receiving clopidogrel (75 mg/day), aspirin (100 mg/day) and rosuvastatin for at least 6 months following percutaneous coronary intervention. Patients were randomly assigned to receive either 5 mg daily amlodipine or not for 2 weeks, and then were crossed over to the other treatment for 2 weeks. Haemostatic measurements were conducted with the VerifyNow assay and thromboelastography (TEG). Primary endpoint was P2Y12 Reaction Units (PRU) during on- versus off-amlodipine treatment. The on-amlodipine strategy showed higher level of PRU compared with the off-amlodipine strategy (176.8 ± 75.4 vs. 150.7 ± 65.5 PRU; ∆mean: 26.1 PRU; ∆95% confidence interval [CI]: 4.5-47.7 PRU; p = 0.019). Platelet-fibrin clot strength measured by TEG was lower during on- versus off-amlodipine treatment (7,712 ± 1,889 vs. 8,559 ± 2,174 dyne/cm2; ∆mean: -847 dyne/cm2; ∆95% CI: -1,632 to -62 dyne/cm2; p = 0.035). After amlodipine discontinuation, 27 patients (67.5%) showed a decrease in PRU, which was associated with ‘PRU ≥ 160 on-amlodipine’ in multivariate analysis (odds ratio: 62.014; 95% CI: 2.302-1670.328; p = 0.014). In conclusion, amlodipine increases platelet reactivity and decreases platelet-fibrin clot strength during clopidogrel treatment. In addition, the effect of amlodipine discontinuation on clopidogrel responsiveness is associated with on-amlodipine platelet reactivity.</P>

        Role and Clinical Importance of Progressive Changes in Echocardiographic Parameters in Predicting Outcomes in Patients With Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

        BACKGROUND: The prognostic utility of follow-up transthoracic echocardiography (FU-TTE) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is unclear, specifically in terms of whether changes in echocardiographic parameters in routine FU-TTE parameters are associated with cardiovascular outcomes. METHODS: From 2010 to 2017, 162 patients with HCM were retrospectively enrolled in this study. Using echocardiography, HCM was diagnosed based on morphological criteria. Patients with other diseases that cause cardiac hypertrophy were excluded. TTE parameters at baseline and FU were analyzed. FU-TTE was designated as the last recorded value in patients who did not develop any cardiovascular event or the latest exam before event development. Clinical outcomes were acute heart failure, cardiac death, arrhythmia, ischemic stroke, and cardiogenic syncope. RESULTS: Median interval between the baseline TTE and FU-TTE was 3.3 years. Median clinical FU duration was 4.7 years. Septal trans-mitral velocity/mitral annular tissue Doppler velocity (E/e’), tricuspid regurgitation velocity, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and left atrial volume index (LAVI) at baseline were recorded. LVEF, LAVI, and E/e’ values were associated with poor outcomes. However, no delta values predicted HCM-related cardiovascular outcomes. Logistic regression models incorporating changes in TTE parameters had no significant findings. Baseline LAVI was the best predictor of a poor prognosis. In survival analysis, an already enlarged or increased size LAVI was associated with poorer clinical outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: Changes in echocardiographic parameters extracted from TTE did not assist in predicting clinical outcomes. Cross-sectionally evaluated TTE parameters were superior to changes in TTE parameters between baseline and FU at predicting cardiovascular events.
