In this paper, we present compiler-based active rule system to efficiently maintain spatial integrity constraints in a heterogeneous, distributed environment. Specially, the prototype active rule system presented has been developed as a component of a whole middleware system called SDBC(Spatial DataBase Connectivity). Due to this reason, our active rule system is provided for heterogeneous ODBMSs in a distributed environment and used to define spatial integrity constraints using the active rules in E-C-A(Event-Condition-Action) type. Using this active rule system, an application programmer can free himself from a heavier burden on the integrity maintenance of application objects. In this compiler-based approach, active rules applicable to events raised by a database program are directly inserted into the program in a function type by the preprocessor, and then they are compiled with the application program source codes. One advantage of this approach is that there is no run-time overhead accompanied by monitoring all the database transitions when preprocessed program is executed. This active rule system also provides facilities to manage changed rules and dynamically interpret those rules at run-time.
Nanocrystalline silicon carbide films for solar photovoltaics: The role of dangling-bond defects
Lim, Koeng Su,Shevaleevskiy, Oleg De Gruyter 2008 Pure and Applied Chemistry Vol.80 No.10
<P>Thin films of microcrystalline hydrogenated silicon (µc-Si:H) and nanocrystalline silicon carbide (nc-SiC:H) provide a new class of advanced nanostructured materials for solar photovoltaic (PV) devices. We have worked on the fabrication, characterization, and application of these materials for thin film PV solar cells based on amorphous silicon. Here we present an overview of the preparation and characterization methods for heterogeneous SiC:H-based layers. Hydrogenated nc-SiC:H thin film materials with high crystalline volume fraction were deposited using photo-assisted chemical vapor deposition (photo-CVD) technique. The behavior of spin-containing dangling-bond (DB) defects was performed using electron spin resonance (ESR) and transport measurements as a function of sample crystallinity, doping level, and temperature. The electronic and structural properties of intrinsic and doped µc-Si:H and nc-SiC:H thin films are reviewed with the emphasis of the essential role of DB defects on the photoelectronic transport parameters.</P>
Multi-channel Audio System Based on Human Psychoacoustic Model
Sung, Koeng-Mo 이화여자대학교 음악연구소 2004 하계 국제학술회의 자료집 Vol.2004 No.-
3-channel microphone array systems are used in multi-channel audio applications, such as home theatre systems. With microphone array signals, the loudspeakers' positions can be calculated based on the spatial information of an auditory space. Using newly proposed virtual loudspeaker positioning algorithms, we seek to reconcile disagreements in loudspeaker positioning recommendations. We also use the position information to align the levels of multiple loudspeakers for total binaural energy. Directional impulse responses are then measured by 5-channel microphone array systems, and the artificial sound field is generated with these directional impulse responses.

We have developed highly stabilized (p-i-n)-type protocrystalline silicon (pc-Si:H) multilayer solar cells. To achieve a high conversion efficiency, we applied a double-layer p-type amorphous silicon-carbon alloy (p-a-Si_{1-x}C_x:H) structure to the pc-Si:H multilayer solar cells. The less pronounced initial short wavelength quantum efficiency variation as a function of bias voltage proves that the double (p-a-Si_{1-x}C_x:H) layer structure successfully reduces recombination at the p/i interface. It was found that a natural hydrogen treatment involving an etch of the defective undiluted p-a-SiC:H window layer before the hydrogen-diluted p-a-SiC:H buffer layer deposition and an improvement of the order in the window layer. Thus, we achieved a highly stabilized efficiency of 9.0% without any back reflector.
Reduced Complexity Self-Tuning Adaptive Algorithms in Application to Channel Estimation
Seongwook Song,Koeng-Mo Sung Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2007 IEEE transactions on communications Vol.55 No.8
<P>In this letter, reduced complexity self-tuning algorithms are proposed using simplified parameter updating procedures. Convergence analysis based on the independence assumption and the ordinary differential equation (ODE) method shows that the tuning parameter of the proposed algorithm attains the same limit as the conventional self-tuning adaptive algorithm. Simulations are carried out for channel estimation to support the analysis and performance of the proposed algorithms.</P>
