<P>Conclusions: The IAP in the prone position was significantly lower using the Jackson table compared with the Wilson frame and chest rolls. A PEEP up to 9 cm H2O can be safely used in healthy euvolemic patients undergoing prone spinal surgery without a clinically significant increase in IAP, irrespective of the type of prone positional apparatus.</P>

Objective: This nationally matched longitudinal study aimed to investigate the relationship between acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) in Korea.Methods: We collected patient data from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2015 from the National Health Insurance Service Health Screening Cohort. Patients with OPLL were defined as patients with the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision code M48.8 (other specified spondylopathies) and were newly diagnosed through computed tomography imaging. The OPLL group had a total of 1,289 patients. The control group included 6,445 people. Utilizing the Kaplan-Meier technique, The incidence of AMI in both groups was estimated. A Cox proportional-hazards regression analysis was used to compute the AMI hazard ratio.Results: After controlling for age and sex, the hazard ratio of AMI in the OPLL group was 2.065 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.228-3.474). The adjusted hazard ratio in the OPLL group was 2.209 after restricting the sample for demographics and concomitant medical conditions (95% CI, 1.311-3.721). In a subgroup analysis, the incidence of AMI was substantially greater in the OPLL group, which included women younger than 65 years and without hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia.Conclusion: This nationwide longitudinal study found that patients with OPLL were at higher risk of AMI.
<i>Asticcacaulis</i> <i>solisilvae</i> sp. nov., isolated from forest soil

<P>An obligately aerobic, chemoheterotrophic, mesophilic prosthecate bacterium, designated strain CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP>, was isolated from the enrichment cultures of forest soil from Cheonggyesan Mountain, Republic of Korea. Cells were Gram-reaction-negative, motile rods (1.3–2.4 µm long by 0.30–0.75 µm wide) with single flagella. The strain grew at 10–37 °C (optimum 25–30 °C) and at pH 4.5–9.5 (optimum 5.0–7.0). The major cellular fatty acids were C<SUB>16 : 0</SUB>, C<SUB>18 : 1</SUB>ω7<I>c</I> 11-methyl, C<SUB>12 : 1</SUB> 3-OH and summed feature 8 (comprising C<SUB>18 : 1</SUB>ω7<I>c</I>/C<SUB>18 : 1</SUB>ω6<I>c</I>). The genomic DNA G+C content of strain CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP> was 63.7 mol%. The closest phylogenetic neighbour to strain CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP> was identified as <I>Asticcacaulis biprosthecium</I> DSM 4723<SUP>T</SUP> (97.2 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and the DNA–DNA hybridization value between strain CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP> and <I>A. biprosthecium</I> DSM 4723<SUP>T</SUP> was less than 24.5 %. Strain CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP> used <SMALL>d</SMALL>-glucose, <SMALL>d</SMALL>-fructose, sucrose, maltose, trehalose, <SMALL>d</SMALL>-mannose, <SMALL>d</SMALL>-mannitol, <SMALL>d</SMALL>-sorbitol, <SMALL>d</SMALL>-galactose, cellobiose, lactose, raffinose, fumarate, pyruvate, <SMALL>dl</SMALL>-alanine and glycerol as carbon sources. Based on data from the present polyphasic study, the forest soil isolate CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP> is considered to represent a novel species of the genus <I>Asticcacaulis</I>, for which the name <I>Asticcacaulis</I> <I>solisilvae</I> sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is CGM1-3EN<SUP>T</SUP> ( = AIM0088<SUP>T</SUP> = KCTC 32102<SUP>T</SUP> = JCM 18544<SUP>T</SUP>).</P>
Change of Pyogenic and Tuberculous Spondylitis between 2007 and 2016 Year : A Nationwide Study

Objective : We attempted to compare the incidence of pyogenic spondylitis (PS) and tuberculous spondylitis (TS) between 2007 and 2016. Furthermore, we investigated the patients who underwent surgery in 2016 compared to that in 2007. Methods : We used a nationwide database managed by the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) in 2007 and 2016. Total 9655 patients with a newly diagnosis of PS or TS were enrolled in PS or TS group. Among them, 1721 patients underwent either fusion or decompression surgery. We analyzed demographic distribution of patients according to gender and age and year of diagnosis. Results : Comparing between 2007 and 2016, the incidence of PS has increased in 2016 than in 2007 (4874 vs. 2431, p<0.0001). Conversely, declination of incidence of TS was discovered in 2016 compared to 2007 (594 vs. 1756, p<0.0001). Females showed predominance over males regarding both PS and TS (5228 vs. 4427, p<0.0001). Among them, the number of PS patients who underwent surgery increased significantly in 2016 relative to that in 2007 (979 vs. 592, p<0.0001). Conclusion : This nationwide study suggests that PS may increase and TS may decrease in Korea. In addition, demand for surgery regarding PS may increase.

In this paper, development of the three-dimensional structural analysis is performed by applying FETI-local method. In the FETI-local method, the penalty term is added as a preconditioner. The OPT-DKT shell element is used in the present structural analysis. Newmark- method is employed to conduct the dynamic analysis. The three-dimensional FETI-local static structural analysis is conducted. The contour and the displacement of the results are compared following the different number of sub-domains. The computational time and memory usage are compared with respect to the number of CPUs used. The three-dimensional dynamic structural analysis is conducted while applying FETI-local method. The present results show appropriate scalability in terms of the computational time and memory usage. It is expected to improve the computational efficiency by combining the advantages of the original FETI method, i.e., FETI-mixed using the mixed local-global Lagrange multiplier.
Fabrication and characterization of thermochemical hydrogen sensor with laminated structure

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, we reported the simple and cost-effective fabrication of thermochemical hydrogen (TCH) sensors composed of chalcogenide thin films and Pt/Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> powders. Chalcogenide thin films of two types, composed of Bi<SUB>2</SUB>Te<SUB>3</SUB> (monomorphic-type) and Bi<SUB>2</SUB>Te<SUB>3</SUB> Sb<SUB>2</SUB>Te<SUB>3</SUB> (four-leg PN junction-type), were prepared by electrochemical deposition. The Pt/Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> powder, which acts as a heating catalyst, was synthesized by impregnation of an Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> powder with an aqueous solution of platinum (IV) chloride pentahydrate. Its heating process was optimized via a hydrogen-sensing evaluation to control the size of the Pt particles. The monomorphic-type TCH sensor showed an output signal of 14.2 μV in response to 10 vol% hydrogen gas, whereas an output signal of 39.6 μV was obtained from a four-leg PN junction–type TCH sensor. Even though the n–p junction-type had the same deposition area as that of the monomorphic-type, the output signal of the n–p junction TCH sensor was greater by a factor of 2.8. In addition, the monomorphic-type TCH sensor had an inferior response time (T<SUB>90</SUB>) of 31 s and a longer recovery time (D<SUB>10</SUB>) of 38 s; the four-leg PN junction-type TCH sensor had a lowest response time of 27 s and a fastest recovery time of 9 s (in 3% H<SUB>2</SUB>/air at room temperature).</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Thermochemical hydrogen sensor composed of chalcogenide thin film and Pt/Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> catalyst was fabricated. </LI> <LI> Voltage signal of the n–p junction type sensor was higher than monomorphic type sensor. </LI> <LI> Heat dissipation of n–p junction type sensor was superior to that of monomorphic type one. </LI> <LI> Response and recovery time of n–p junction type sensor were 27.4 and 9.6 s in 3% H<SUB>2</SUB>/air. </LI> </UL> </P>
Outside Directors’ Insider Trading Around Board Meetings

Using a novel dataset containing U.S. companies’ regular board meeting schedules, we find evidence of informed trading by outside directors prior to board meetings. In the days prior to board meetings, when outside directors possess private information, they make purchases that yield higher abnormal returns and are larger than those made during periods distant from board meetings. We find no such pattern for inside directors who possess private information regardless of the timing of board meetings. Moreover, we find that these patterns are especially exhibited by trades made by more sophisticated directors, trades made prior to board meetings that result in news disclosures, and nonroutine trades. Our results suggest that outside directors trade based on information they obtain in preparation for board meetings.
