In this paper, we propose the simple and fast algorithm for tracking a moving object using mask image created by separating the object from the background in image sequence. By using simple full search block matching algorithm based on the mask image, we can simplify the algorithm. In the motion estimation process, the computation time can be reduced by discarding the blocks which are classified into the unuseful blocks. As a result of simulation, we have observed that the proposed algorithm provides a good moving object tracking result.

Tumor therapy using the high-energy radiation has evolved over the decades as typical non-invasive treatment method due to its advantage compared with surgery. But, the radiotherapy can damage or destroy normal cells as well as destroying tumor cells and cause side effects of treatment. Even though most side effects are temporary, these effects can be extremely fatal for patient. Therefore, the exact measurement of the exposure dose of patient during radiation therapy is very important for patient safety. In the case of the conventional fiber-optic radiation sensor that consists of a scintillator for high-energy radiation dosimetry, additional correction is necessary due to the quenching effects of the scintillator. In this study, we measured the exposure dose of the high-energy proton beam without the scintillator by using the Cerenkov radiation that generated inside the plastic optical fiber. As a result of this study, we confirmed a Bragg peak of the proton beam without a scintillator. Also it was in good agreement with the result of the ionization chamber.

In general, the position control of electro hydrostatic actuator(EHA) systems is difficult because of the large variation of the effective bulk modulus of the working fluid, which is due to the absence of a heat exchanger like a reservoir tank, the friction between the cylinder and piston, and the external disturbance force. Moreover, it is difficult to identify the values of the effective bulk modulus and friction. In this paper, the variation of the effective bulk modulus, friction, and external disturbance are considered as uncertainties of EHA systems. To solve the problems due to these system uncertainties, an adaptive back-stepping control scheme with fuzzy neural networks(FNNs) is proposed. The effectiveness of the adaptive back-stepping control(ABSC) system with FNNs was compared with those of the standard back-stepping control(BSC) system and the ABSC system through computer simulation.

Purpose: To identify prognostic factors influencing progression-free survival (PFS) of aggressive fibromatosis (AF) after postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) and assess correlations between immunohistochemistry (IHC) features of β-catenin/smooth muscle actin (SMA) and PFS. Materials and Methods: Records of 37 patients with AF treated by PORT from 1984 to 2015 were retrospectively reviewed. Fifteen patients underwent wide excision for AF and 22 patients received debulking operation. The median total dose of PORT was 59.4 Gy. IHC staining results of β-catenin and SMA were available for 11 and 12 patients, respectively. Results: The median follow-up duration was 105.9 months. Five-year PFS rate was 70.9%. Tumor size or margin status was not related to PFS in univariate analysis (p = 0.197 and p = 0.716, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that increased interval from surgery to PORT (>5.7 weeks) was a marginal risk factor for PFS (p = 0.054). Administration of PORT at the initial diagnosis resulted in significantly improved PFS compared to deferring PORT after recurrence (p = 0.045). Patient with both risk factors of deferring PORT after recurrence and interval from surgery to PORT >5.7 weeks had significantly lower 5-year PFS than patients without risk factor (34.1% vs. 100.0%; p = 0.012). Nuclear β-catenin intensity tended to inversely correlate with 5-year PFS, although it did not reach statistical significance (62.5% at low vs. 100.0% at high; p = 0.260). SMA intensity was not related to PFS (p = 0.700). Conclusion: PORT should be performed immediately after surgery irrespective of margin status or tumor size especially in recurrent case. Nuclear β-catenin staining intensity of IHC might correlate with local recurrence.

This paper deals with a sliding mode impedance control (SMIC) of end-effector of robot manipulator using a tracking control scheme and a real-time artificial intelligence algorithm based on a radial basis function neural networks(RBFNNs). To real-time estimate the design parameters of desired impedance model such as desired inertia, damping, and stiffness desired impedance, SMIC(sliding mode impedance control) with RBFNNs algorithm is proposed.

Even though congential missing of mandibular incisors is lower incidence than that of maxillary lateral incisors of premolars, it makes orthodontic treatment complicated, and then clinical orthodontists should be familiar with treatment alternatives. The treatment techniques used in resolving that cases depend on a myriad of diagnostic criteria such as dental, skeletal and aesthetic considerations. Be based on this consideration, the orthodontists must decide whether to retain or open space for prosthodontic treatment or to closure space with potential excessive overbite of the anterior teeth or to extract maxillary teeth for tooth material balance. The following case reports document three patients with one or two congenitally missing mandibular teeth who were treated by opportunely selected treatment modality.
