        Gintonin facilitates catecholamine secretion from the perfused adrenal medulla

        The present study was designed to investigate the characteristics of gintonin, one of components isolated from Korean Ginseng on secretion of catecholamines (CA) from the isolated perfused model of rat adrenal gland and to clarify its mechanism of action. Gintonin (1 to 30 μg/ml), perfused into an adrenal vein, markedly increased the CA secretion from the perfused rat adrenal medulla in a dose-dependent fashion. The gintonin-evoked CA secretion was greatly inhibited in the presence of chlorisondamine (1 μM, an autonomic ganglionic bloker), pirenzepine (2 μM, a muscarinic M<sub>1</sub> receptor antagonist), Ki14625 (10 μM, an LPA<sub>1/3</sub> receptor antagonist), amiloride (1 mM, an inhibitor of Na<sup>+</sup>/Ca<sup>2+</sup> exchanger), a nicardipine (1 μM, a voltage-dependent Ca<sup>2+</sup> channel blocker), TMB-8 (1 μM, an intracellular Ca<sup>2+ </sup>antagonist), and perfusion of Ca<sup>2+</sup>-free Krebs solution with 5mM EGTA (a Ca<sup>2+</sup>chelater), while was not affected by sodium nitroprusside (100 μM, a nitrosovasodialtor). Interestingly, LPA (0.3~3 μM, an LPA receptor agonist) also dose-dependently enhanced the CA secretion from the adrenal medulla, but this facilitatory effect of LPA was greatly inhibited in the presence of Ki 14625 (10 μM). Moreover, acetylcholine (AC)-evoked CA secretion was greatly potentiated during the perfusion of gintonin (3 μg/ml). Taken together, these results demonstrate the first evidence that gintonin increases the CA secretion from the perfused rat adrenal medulla in a dose-dependent fashion. This facilitatory effect of gintonin seems to be associated with activation of LPA- and cholinergic-receptors, which are relevant to the cytoplasmic Ca<sup>2+</sup> increase by stimulation of the Ca<sup>2+</sup> influx as well as by the inhibition of Ca<sup>2+</sup> uptake into the cytoplasmic Ca<sup>2+</sup> stores, without the increased nitric oxide (NO). Based on these results, it is thought that gintonin, one of ginseng components, can elevate the CA secretion from adrenal medulla by regulating the Ca<sup>2+</sup> mobilization for exocytosis, suggesting facilitation of cardiovascular system. Also, these findings show that gintonin might be at least one of ginseng-induced hypertensive components.

        Microsporum (M.)canis 감염은 애완용으로 기르는 고양이나 개가 주된 감염원이며 두부 백선, 안면백선 및 체부 백선 등의 피부질환을 일으킨다. 특히 M. canis 가족감염예는 M. canis 감염증중 비교적 드물다. 저자들은 전형적인 임상 및 균학적 양상을 보인 고양이로부터 감염된 M. canis 가족예를 경험하고 문헌고찰과 함께 보고한다. Microsporum canis Infections Occurring in a Family Departments of Dermatology & Clinical Pathology, College of Medicine, Dongguk University Moo Kyu Suh M.D., Yeol Oh Sung M.D., Ki Seong Yoon M.D., Gyoung Yim Ha M.D." We report a case of Microsporum (M.) canis infections occurring in a family. The mother, a son and a daughter had multiple, wen defined, round, scaly erythematous patches on the scalp & face, face & trunk, and face & chest respectively. Culture from skin lesion of patients and an infected kitten on Sabouraud dextrose agar showed M. canis. After 15 days to one month administration of itraconazole, the lesins healed leaving a slight hypopigmentation.

        저해음의 비음화 : 음운론 및 음성학적 접근 Its Phonology and Phonetics

        Ahn, Hyunkee, Soon-Suk Kwon, and Ki-Yeol Kim. 2000. Obstruent Nasalization: Its Phonology and Phonetics. Linguistics 8-1, 27-38. This paper discusses a Korean phonological rule, Obstruent Nasalization--i.e., an obstruent is phonologically nasalized when followed by a nasal. As is well known, this rule is productively prevalent in Korean, but not in English. Within the Optimality Theoretic framework, the difference in this phonological pattern between the two languages is well captured by means of adjusting the dominance relationship between two constraints (markedness and faithfulness constraints). This constraint-based explanation, however, doesn't suffice our question of why the phenomenon is phonetically natural in Korean, but cross-linguistically rare. To this question, we will provide one possible answer by suggesting that the markedness constraint is phonetically oriented due to a phonetic constraint on laryngeal feature juxtapositions.         초미세 위치결정시스템을 이용한 실리콘 웨이퍼의 파괴거동에 관한 연구

        The background of this study lies in the investigation of the formation mechanism of ductile mode(nanometer-size) chips of bristle materials such as fine ceramics, glass and silicon. As the first step to achieve this purpose, this paper intends to observe the micro-deformation behavior of these materials in sub ㎛ depth indentation tests using a diamond indentor. In this study, it was developed Ultra-Micro Indentation Device using the PZT actuator. Experimentally, by using the Ultra-Micro Indentation device, the micro fracture behavior of the silicon wafer was investigated. It was possible that ductile-brittle transition point in ultimate surface of brittle material can be detected by adding an acoustic emission sensor system to the 'Ultra-Micro Indentation apparatus.

The numerical flow field resulted in a two-dimensional, steady state fluid model where the turbulence effects were considered in the standard K-ε model. The sprayed particle-plasma interaction with dual injection ports are considered.

      • 포도 Delaware의 無核果生産을 위한 Streptomycin 利用試驗(II)

        前 試驗에 이어 SM混用區의 GA_3 濃度를 50ppm으로 높이고 處理時期의 폭을 滿開前 18, 16, 14, 12, 10일로 하여 GA_3 單用區의 대체여부를 試驗한 結果는 다음과 같다. 1. 滿開期는 兩主區 모두 無處理보다 2~3일 빨랐다. 2. 熟期는 兩主區 모두 無處理보다 25일 정도 早熟되었고 單用區가 混用區에 비하여 1~2일 早熟되었으며 各細區間에 處理時期가 빠를수록 1~2일 정도 早熟되는 경향이 있었다. 3. 無核化率은 混用區는 40개區 모두 有核粒이 없었고, 單用區는 40개區 中 19개區에서 1~6개의 有核粒이 나타났다. 4. 收穫果房狀態는 單用區가 混用區에 比해서 1%水準 以上의 有意差로, 果房長은 길고 5%水準 以上의 有意差로, 平均 果粒重은 무거웠다. The studies were conducted continuously following previous test to determine the possibility of utilization with streptomycin for seedless berries production in Delaware grapes. The main plots which were applied with different chemicals(combind solution of GA_2(50ppm)+SM(200ppm), GA_3(100ppm) alone solution) as pre-bloom application and five split plots according to days applied before full bloom were designed. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The days of full bloom in both main plots was accelerated by two to three days compared with that in the untreatment. 2. The day of maturity showed tendency to delay one to two days in combined solution plot compared with that in alone solution plot. 3. In all combined solution plots, seed-holding berry was not found, but, in alone solution plots, they were found in nineteen out of forty plots. 4. The length of cluster harvested in combined solution plot was short and mean weight of berry was light compared with that in alone solution plot

        성견에서 수직적 골결손부에 골이식후 교정력 적용시기에 따른 치주조직의 반응

        본 연구는 수직적 골결손부에 골이식을 시행한 후 교정력 적용시기에 따른 치주조직의 반응을 알아보고자 시행하였다. 체중 15 kg 내외의 성견 9마리에서 상악 좌우측 제3절치의 원심 치근면에 수직적 골결손을 형성하고 치주질환을 유발시킨2주 후 치주판막술을 시행하고 골결손 기저부 수준의 치근면에 기준 흠을 형성하였다. 골이식 후 치유기간에 따라 2주군, 4주군, 6주군으로 각각 3마리씩 분류하고 우측 제3절치는 치주판막술만 하는 비이식측으로, 좌측 제3절치는 치주판막술과 골이식을 병용한 이식측으로 설정하여 양측 모두 술후 2주, 4주, 또는 6주부터 120 gm의 교정력을 적용하여8주 동안 치체이동 시킨 후2주간 보정하였다. 이후 동물을 희생시키고 조직표본을 만든 후 치주조직의 반응을 비교 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 모든 실험동물에서 비이식측에 비해 이식측의 골재생양이 많이 나타났다. 2. 6주군에서는 홈에서 백악-법랑 경계부까지 거리의 1/2이상 치조골과 백악질이 재생되었고 상피의 하방증식없이 결합조직대가 치근면과 부착을 이루었다. 3. 4주군에서는6주군과 유사한 치주조직 재생소견을 보였으나 그 양은 더 적게 나타났다. 4. 2주군의 경우 골재생이 양측 모두 홈에 한정되어 나타났으며 상피의 하방증식이 홈의 기저부까지 연장되고 백악질과 결합조직의 재생은 관찰되지 않았다. 이상의 결과는 치주질환에 의한 수직적 골결손 환자에서 치주판막술과 골이식을 시행하고 교정적 치아이동을 할 경우 교정력 적용시기에 따른 치주조직의 반응이 차이가 있음을 시사하였다. (주요 단어 : 수직적 골결손, 골이식, 교정력 적용시기, 치주반응) The aim of this study was to investigate the periodontal response according to the timing of orthodntic force application after bone graft into the angular bony defect. Nine dogs were divided into three groups, 2, 4, and 6 weeks, according to the timing of orthodontic force application after bone graft. Periodontal angular bony defects were created surgically at the distal aspect of both maxillary third incisors. Two weeks later, flap operation was performed to eliminate inflammation and reference notch was made on the root surface at the level of the bottom of each defect. Demineralized freeze-dried bone was implanted on the left side whereas only debridement was done on the other side. Experimental tooth movement was executed during 8 weeks on both graft and non-graft sides. After 2 weeks of retention period, animals were sacrificed for histologic specimens. The results were obtained as follows : 1.New bone formation was more pronounced in the graft side than in the non-graft side in all experimental animals. 2.In the 6-week group, new bone and cementum formation was observed in more than half from the notch to the cemento-enamel junction, and the zone of connective tissue attachment was found without apical migration of junctional epithelium. 3.In the 4-week group, the amount of new bone formation was smaller than in the 6-week group whereas the overall remodeling pattern was similar. 4.New bone formation was confined to around the notch and the junctional epithelium migrated apically to the level of the notch with no connective tissue attachment and cementum formation in the 2-week group. The results of the present study suggest that periodontal response may be influenced by the timing of orthodontic force application after bone graft into angular bony defect.       • 촉각센서를 위한 실리콘 마이크로다이어프램 배열의 제조

        Silicon diaphragm arrays were fabricated by silicon micromachining using porous silicon. Fabricated diaphragms consist of 3x3 array. The thickness of diaphragm is 5μm and theire size are 200x200, 300X300 and 400X400μm^(2), respectively. Several % of resistance change is observed, when stress was applied at diffused resistor on the diaphragm. Microdiaphragm arrays were easily fabricated by silicon micromachining using porous silicon, and we confirmed feasibilty of application at tactile sensor.
