        The purpose of this research is to analyse conflict circumstances between the two regions (Chonbuk and Chungcheong) of Keum-Kang river basin and furthermore to suggest the ways of solving water-dispute from the viewpoint of technological and institutional aspects. In this study, I found the two regions' conflict is due to the probelm how to keep the appropriate amount of water in Keum-Kang river basin. I also suggest to develop a new coordinate procedure for solving this problem. Nevertheless, the best possible choice for this problem is to develop a way of integrating it with the consideration of social barriers accompanied by water-resource development projects.

      • 화학공학 전공 학생의 취업을 위한 복합 STC 운영

        우리 영동대학교에서 1998년 이후 지금까지 진행하여 온 특별 주제 학습과정인 STC(Special Topics COurse)프로그램을 기존의 운영틀에서 탈피하여 한층 더 발전시킨 복합STC로 활용하고자 하였으며, 특히 이를 졸업생의 취업 및 진학의 방법으로 최대한 활용하고자 계획·운영하였다. 그 결과 취업 및 진학과 같은 진로 확립은 물론 전공지식의 확대, 자격시험 대비능력의 향상, 학생과 교수간의 유대강화 등과 같은 괄목할 만한 성과를 얻을 수 있었으며, 교수들의 산업체 방문을 통한 산학협동의 계기 마련에도 커다란 성과를 얻었다. We have upgraded the STC(Special Topics Course) program, which has been carried out in our university since 1995, to more structured program so that we could train our chemical engineering students better. This program was geared to help students find better jobs and enter well-recognized graduate schools. Consequently, we had most students successful in job searches as well as entrance exams for graduate school; besides, those who actively participated in our STC program were able to attain better professional knowledge and acquire various professional engineers certificates. On top of that, this program allowed us to build up closer relationships with our students. We also made university-industry cooperation possible through our visits to industries nearby.

        한국인 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동에서 도파민 D4 수용체 유전자의 Variable Number of Tandem Repeats (VNTR) 다형성과 Methyphenidate 치료 반응간의 연관성

        Objectives : In the present study, we investigate the association between homozygosity of the 4-repeat allele (4/4) at the DRD4 and the response to the treatment with MPH in Korean children with ADHD. Methods : The present study included 71 children with ADHD (8.231.78 years) from two children's psychiatric clinics in South Korea. All drug-naive children with ADHD were treated with MPH for about 8 weeks. The subjects who showed improvement of over 50% compared with the baseline ARS score after 8 weeks of treatment were termed as the 'good response' group. The subjects who showed an improvement of less than 50% were considered as the 'poor response' group. After genotyping for DRD4 were performed, we investigated correlation between homozygosity for 4-repeat allele at DRD4 and the response to MPH treatment. Results : We found that while 79.5% (31/39) of the subjects with homozygosity of 4-repeat allele at DRD4 showed good response to MPH treatment, 68.8% (22/32) of the subjects without homozygosity of 4-repeat allele at DRD4 showed poor response to MPH treatment according to ARS scores assessed by their parents (χ²= 16.762, df= 1, p<0.01). We also found that while 61.5% (24/39) of the subjects with homozygosity of 4-repeat allele at DRD4 showed good response to MPH treatment, 87.5% (28/32) of the subjects without homozygosity of the 4-repeat allele at DRD4 showed poor response to MPH treatment according to ARS scores assessed by their teachers (χ²= 17.698, df= 1, P<0.01). Conclusion : Our findings support an association between the homozygosity of 4-repeat allele and a good response to MPH in ADHD of Koreans.

      • 뽕나무의 耐寒性에 關한 硏究(Ⅱ) : 短期高溫 및 低溫處理가 休眠枝條의 耐寒性에 미치는 效果 Rapid Effect of High and Low Temperature on the Freezing Resistance of Dehardening Stems

        This study explored the rapid effect of low temperature on the freezing resistance of dehardening and hardening stems of mulberry cultivars. 1. The short low temperature treatment showed hardy freezing resistance to mulberry winter bud in early spring. 2. The high temperature treatment showed less freezing resistance to mulberry stems and the longer high temperature treatment, the lesser freezing resistance in early spring. 3. Mulberry stems treated at -5℃ for 24 hours during November were not showed any freezing damage and the more late November, the more hardened freezing resistance. 4. Yongchunppong was the most hardy freezing resistance cultivar.

      • 유동층형 생물반응기를 이용한 구연산 생산

        유동층형 생물반응기를 이용하여 Aspergillus niger에 의한 구연산 생산에 관해 연구하였다. 실험결과 균체의 형상은 기질의 물리적 특성 특히 발효액의 점도에 영향을 미쳐 최종적으로는 구연산의 생산 효율에 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자의 하나인을 알 수 있었다. 균체의 크기를 비롯한 형상은 배양기간중 발효액의 교반속도를 변화시켜 조절하였다. 또 질소원이 균체의 성장과 구연산의 생산에 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 최적의 질소농도가 존재함을 관찰하였다. 구연산의 생산효율을 높이기 위한 시도로 구연산 발효액으로 부터 균체를 분리하여 다시 이용하는 2단계에 걸친 유가식 배양을 실시한 결과 기존의 회분식 배양에서보다 높은 생성효율을 얻을 수 있었다. A Study on citric acid production by Aspergillus niger was carried out in a fluidized bed bioreactor. Morphology is one od the important factors affecting the physical properties of the medium, especially viscosity, and consequently on the citric acid productivity. During the cultivation, the pellet size was controlled by changing the agitation speed. It was also observed that nitrogen source was found to be important on the cell growth and citric acid production and had an optimum concentration. 2-stage fed batch system was examined and it showed higher productivity than the conventional batch system. The cells after separation from the broth containing citric acid was reused for the next batch.

        21세기의 정보화 산업사회와 지식기반 사회에서 우리의 아이들이 자신의 목소리로 세계 속에서 살아가게 하기 위해서는 다른 사람과 다른 아이디어를 낼 수 있도록 교육의 틀을 바꾸지 않으면 안된다. 다라서 21세기의 미래 사회를 살아갈 학생들을 가르치는 교육의 현장 역시 창의적인 인간을 길러낼 수 있도록 변해야 한다. 즉, 미래 사회를 대비하기 위해서는 각 개인의 개성을 존중하는 분위기에서 창의적인 능력을 지닌 인간을 양성해야 한다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서, 학교 안에서의 교육뿐만이 아니라 학교 밖에서도 다양한 학습 경험을 통해서 교육 과정이 추구하는 인간상을 구현할 수 있도록 활동할 수 있는 기회가 학생들에게 제공되어야 한다. 창의력을 발휘하여 문제를 해결하는 능력을 기르기 위해서는 개별적이 아닌 여러 명의 동료가 주어진 과제를 해결할 수 있는 기회를 갖고 짧은 시간이 아닌 장시간 동안 고민하고 그 해결책을 찾는 활동을 가질 기회가 필요하다. In order to educate our students with their special talents for the informational and knowledge based age expected in the 21st century, we must improve our educational programs such that students are able to create their own fresh ideas. Hence the present educational environment should be changed such that they are willing to respect others' characters and personality with their own original ideas. Therefore, we must make them have the opportunity that they can acquire many experiences through the school education and the social education program, so that they may grow up to the person with the humanity and creativity. In this study we have suggested new educational program where students engage themselves in long term research projects with collaboration of the team and creativity of individuals.

      • 근시안에서 엑시머레이저 굴절교정각막절제술의 효과

        The excimer laser allows the controlled ablation of corneal tissue to correct refractive error. we analyzed clinical results of excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy on 70 eyes followed up more than 6 months from May 1994 to December 1996. The patients were divided into 3 groups according to their myopic degree ; group I : -2.0 ~ -3.75D, Ⅱ : -4.0~ -5.75D, Ⅲ : -6.0D ~ -9.0D We evaluated the amount of myopic correction, visual acuity, corneal opacity and complications. At 6 months after operation, uncorrected visual acuity over 0.8 was achieved in 93.7% in group I, 89.6% and 84% in group Ⅱ,Ⅲ. Achieved correction within ±1.0D at six months were 100%, 79.3% and 72% in each group. Mean manifest refraction(spherical equivalent) of each group were -0.34DM -0.4D and -0.85D at six months. Corneal haze was detected at 2 weeks after operation and disappeared at 3 months in almost cases. There was no significant change of intraocular pressure except two cases and delayed epithelial wound healing was noted in only one case. Blurred vision at night was common complain. Photorefractive keratectomy with 193 nm excimer laser appears to be very effective method for reducing low to moderate and range of -6.0D ~ -9.0D of myopia.

      • 경연 대회를 통한 초ㆍ중고생의 창의력 신장 효과에 관한 연구

        미래 사회를 대비하기 위한 개인의 개성을 존중과 창의적인 능력을 지닌 인간을 양성을 목적으로 충청남도 지역의 초 ㆍ 중고등학생들을 대상으로 한 창의력 경연대회가 공주대학교 과학교육연구소에서 개최되었다. 충청남도 초 ㆍ중 ㆍ 고등학생들을 대상으로 실시한 창의력 경연대회는 창조적 아이디어를 내어 스스로 문제를 해결해 나갈 수 있는 교육 프로그램을 제공하는 좋은 기회였음이 확인되었으나, 일부의 팀에서만 참신하고 재미있는 아이디어들이 제안되었다. 여학생의 참가자 수가 상당히 증가하였으며, 대체적으로 입상권의 학생들의 상당 부분이 여학생이라는 것이 특이할만하다. 학년이 올라감에 따라서 창의적인 아이디어를 내는 양이나 질에 있어서 뒤떨어지는 것으로 분석되었으며, 토론 학습의 적응력이 미흡하고 발표력 및 청취력에 있어서도 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 중 ㆍ고등학교의 학교교육에서도 학생들에게 프로젝트형 탐구학습 프로그램의 적용은 물론 토론식 수습을 통한 학생들의 사고의 전환의 기회를 제공해야 할 것으로 사료된다. The creativity competition was held to foster the creativity of elementary and secondary school students in the Institute of Science Education, Kongju national University. It was found that the creativity competition effected on the improvement of inventing creative ideas and problem solving activities. But, only some competitors participated in semifinal and final contests, presented original and interesting ideas. More female students participated in competition than last year. More female participants were awarded a prize than males. Totally, participants were defective in discussion and communication, and presentation and listening ideas. Increasing grades correlated inversely with creativity and originality. There is need of inquiry project teaming programs and presenting opportunities of conversion of thinking by discussing instructions in school

      • 자궁경부 상피내병변과 침습성 편평세포 암종에서의 bcl-2 발현양상

        Background and Objectives: Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) of the uterine cervix arise from the carcinoma in situ developed in a field of atypical squamous cell proliferation. So, clinical significance of the cervical intraepithelial neoplasm (CIN) are widely accepted. The purpose of this study is to investigate the oncoprotein changes in the sequence of low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL), keratinizing type of squamous cell carcinoma (K-SCC) and nonkeratinizing type of squamous cell carcinoma (NK-SCC). Materials and Methods: Immunohistochemical stains for anti-bcl-2 oncoprotein to 120 conized cervical tiussues or resected uterus specimens diagnosed as squamous cell lseions including 30 cases of LSIL, 30 cases of HSIL, 30 cases of K-SCC, and 30 cases of NK-SCC were done. The evaluation of the bcl-2 immunostaining was based on the percentages of the positive neoplastic cells. And statistical analysis of data for the relation between each lesion was performed using the Student t-test. Results: The average positive cell rate was 2.0%, 4.44%, 6.25% and 13.57% in LSIL, HSIL, K-SCC, and NK-SCC, respectively. Statistically, immunoreactive positive cell rate of NK-SCC was significantly higher than those of LSIL (p=0.007) and HSIL (p=0.031). But, there was no significant difference of immunoreactive cell rate between K-SCC and HSIL. Conclusion: These results suggested that bcl-2 may play a role in a cervical tumorigenesis and prognostic relationship with NK-SCC.
