Gender Role Stereotyping in Hong Kong's Primary School Chinese Language Subject Textbooks
W.K.LAW, Kenneth,H.N.CHAN, Annie Ewha Womans University Press 2004 Asian Journal of Women's Studies(AJWS) Vol.10 No.1
This paper reports on a content analysis of Chinese Language textbooks used in primary schools in Hong Kong, published during the period 1995 to 2000. We examine the extent of gender stereotyping evident from the pictures in these textbooks, in terms of the proportion of male and female characters represented; the settings in which they appear, their portrayal in domestic or non-domestic roles, and the kinds of occupational roles male and female characters were portrayed in. A total of 5,180 pictures in our sample of 108 textbooks have been analyzed and our findings indicate that gender stereotyping in these four areas is still common. However, when compared with the findings of previous studies, we found that the extent of gender stereotyping has reduced to some extent.

Purpose - Most studies on entrepreneurial intention were focused on developed countries. In developing and agriculture-based economies like the Philippines, there is limited entrepreneurial intention studies conducted among university students, who are potential entrepreneurs in the country. This study intends to bridge this gap by providing insights about the entrepreneurial inclination and entrepreneurial intention of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) students at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). Design/Methodology/Approach - Ajzen’s (1991) Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was utilized to explore factors affecting the entrepreneurial intention of the BSA students. A total of 108 students were surveyed using an online questionnaire, and data analysis tools included Cronbach’s alpha, frequency analysis, chi-square, and binary logistic regression. Data analysis focused on each batch of students. Findings - The study found that Batch 2012 and below showed a greater number of students with high personal attitude, perceived behavioral control, and entrepreneurial intention. On the other hand, Batch 2015 students exhibited the lowest entrepreneurial intention. Generally, the respondents had high entrepreneurial intention; however, low perceived behavioral control or self-efficacy was also recorded. In terms of entrepreneurial inclination, all batches showed high inclination, except for Batch 2015, where the majority of the students did not have an entrepreneurial role model and had not taken an entrepreneurship course or subject. An equation model was constructed for Batch 2015 students, wherein personal attitude and subjective norm were found to be significant with intention. Research Implications - The study findings imply the need for certain colleges in UPLB to undertake strategies tailor-fit for addressing gaps in entrepreneurial inclination and intention for every batch.

Funeral Rites among the Akans of Ghana: A Biblical Response
( Kenneth Oppong ),( Robert Osei-bonsu ) 삼육대학교 선교와사회문제연구소 2018 Asia-Africa Journal of Mission and Ministry(AAMM) Vol.17 No.-
Each society has its own culture which is usually dearly cherished. A typical example of a people who genuinely admire their unique cultural practices is the Akans of Ghana. There are many unique rites within Akan culture. Among them are birth rites, puberty rites, marriage rites, death and funeral rites. This paper considers funeral rites among the Akans and its impact on the Adventist Church. The article, therefore, seeks to answer these questions: How are funeral rites performed among the Akan? What effect does Akan funeral rites have on the Adventist Church? It also provides a biblical response to the Akan worldview of the immortality of the soul. The paper identifies that the Akan worldview of Saturday God is a favorable factor in the spread and growth of Adventism among the Akans. However, modernization of some aspects of Akan culture particularly funeral rites have changed the story. The celebration of Akan funeral rite services on Saturdays instead of the traditional Thursday is posing a threat to Akan Adventism. It, also, came out that the Akan worldview of the immortality of the soul has no sound biblical foundation.
Modifying Risk Factors in the Management of Erectile Dysfunction: A Review
Kenneth J DeLay,Nora Haney,Wayne JG Hellstrom 대한남성과학회 2016 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.34 No.2
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is prevalent among men and its presence is often an indicator of systemic disease. Risk factors for ED include cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), tobacco use, hyperlipidemia, hypogonadism, lower urinary tract symptoms, metabolic syndrome, and depression. Addressing the modifiable risk factors frequently improves a patient’s overall health and increases lifespan. The literature suggests that smoking cessation, treatment of hyperlipidemia, and increasing physical activity will improve erectile function in many patients. How the treatment of DM, depression, and hypogonadism impacts erectile function is less clear. Clinicians need to be aware that certain antihypertensive agents can adversely impact erectile function. The treatment of men with ED needs to address the underlying risk factors to ameliorate the disease process.
Pride and Pastiche: Humor and Intertextual Parody in Bridget Jones`s Diary
( Kenneth Eckert ) 한국영어영문학회 2017 영어 영문학 Vol.63 No.2
Criticism of Helen Fielding`s Bridget Jones`s Diary (1996) has generally been limited to interrogating its literary value as `Chick Lit,` feminist analysis, and noting its complex intertextual mesh of allusions to Austen`s Pride and Prejudice and movie/TV versions of both novels. Less attention has been paid to why or how P&P functions as a parodic text informing BJD. This paper argues through a close reading that Fielding uses the language registers, behavioral codes, and wider romance tropes and canonical scenes of P&P to serve as a humorous contrast against Bridget. Bridget is funny because she aspires to this fantasy romantic ideal of poise, control, and prestige which is comically denied to her or deflated. Fielding`s parodic technique is neither critical to P&P nor to Bridget but is rather sympathetically playful, so that Bridget earns the reader`s sympathy and identification.
