Minimal systems analysis of mitochondria-dependent apoptosis induced by cisplatin

        홍지영,Kenjirou Hara,김준우,Eisuke F. Sato,심은보,조광현 대한약리학회 2016 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.20 No.4

Recently, it was reported that the role of mitochondria-reactive oxygen species (ROS) generating pathway in cisplatin-induced apoptosis is remarkable. Since a variety of molecules are involved in the pathway, a comprehensive approach to delineate the biological interactions of the molecules is required. However, quantitative modeling of the mitochondria-ROS generating pathway based on experiment and systemic analysis using the model have not been attempted so far. Thus, we conducted experiments to measure the concentration changes of critical molecules associated with mitochondrial apoptosis in both human mesothelioma H2052 and their ρ0 cells lacking mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). Based on the experiments, a novel mathematical model that can represent the essential dynamics of the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway induced by cisplatin was developed. The kinetic parameter values of the mathematical model were estimated from the experimental data. Then, we have investigated the dynamical properties of this model and predicted the apoptosis levels for various concentrations of cisplatin beyond the range of experiments. From parametric perturbation analysis, we further found that apoptosis will reach its saturation level beyond a certain critical cisplatin concentration.

      • Collision-Avoidance Algorithm for Human-Symbiotic Robot

        Yuji Hosoda,Kenjirou Yamamoto,Ryouko Ichinose,Saku Egawa,Junichi Tamamoto,Kouji Tsubouchi,Shinichi Yuta 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10

A real-time collision-avoidance algorithm for human-symbiotic robots that are required to avoid multiple pedestrians was developed. An algorithm to predict the likelihood of a collision with obstacles was based on the relative velocities between a moving robot and multiple obstacles. An algorithm that can generate the optimum path sequence to a goal in real time was also developed. The collision-avoidance path is generated by repeating an operation to select two tangent paths that connect a via-point on a path to a collision circle of each obstacle that exists in the relative space. A robot-called EMIEW”-using these algorithms with a system for avoiding collisions with many obstacles moves at a speed of 0.8 m/s in a cluster of five people walking at 1.2 m/s. The repeat period for generating a new avoidance path is 0.5s, and the processing time for the developed algorithm in the each period is a maximum of 4 ms.

      • 극소전계전자방출 전류밀도 검출을 위한 센싱 시스템 개발

        류정탁,K., Oura,김연보 대구대학교 정보통신연구소 2003 情報通信硏究 Vol.1 No.2

In this research, we developed the electric field electron emission measurement system of new form. This system can measure electric field characteristic about a microscopic area as well as all over area of a field emission (FE) device. Therefore, this system can give big help in development and improvement of more superior FE device because of measurement capacity for physical and electric property of FE device about a microscopic area. Also, we can intuitionally evaluate FE device characterization, because this system displays possible two-dimensional and three-dimensional current density emitted from FE device by electric field.

Minimal systems analysis of mitochondria-dependent apoptosis induced by cisplatin

Utility of serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen levels at the time of recurrent cervical cancer diagnosis in determining the optimal treatment choice

        Kotaro Shimura,Seiji Mabuchi,Takeshi Yokoi,Tomoyuki Sasano,Kenjirou Sawada,Toshimitsu Hamasaki,Tadashi Kimura 대한부인종양학회 2013 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.24 No.4

Objective: To investigate the utility of serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) levels upon the diagnosis of recurrent cervical cancer for decision making in patient management. Methods: Clinical records from 167 cervical cancer patients who developed recurrence between April 1996 and September 2010 were reviewed. A Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to investigate the prognostic significance of serum SCC-Ag levels at the time of recurrence. The effects of various salvage treatments on survival outcomes of recurrent cervical cancer were examined with respect to serum SCC-Ag levels. Results: Serum SCC-Ag levels were elevated (>2.0 ng/mL) in 125 patients (75%) when recurrence was diagnosed. These patients exhibited significantly shorter postrecurrence survival than those with normal SCC-Ag levels (log-rank; p=0.033). Multivariate analyses revealed that an elevated serum SCC-Ag level was an independent prognostic factor for poor postrecurrence survival. In patients with SCC-Ag levels <14.0 ng/mL, radiotherapy or surgery resulted in improved survival compared with chemotherapy or supportive care. In contrast, in patients with SCC-Ag levels of ≥14.0 ng/mL, salvage treatment with radiotherapy had only a minimal impact on postrecurrence survival. Conclusion: The serum SCC-Ag level measured when cervical cancer recurrence is diagnosed can be useful for deciding upon the appropriate salvage treatment.
