      • Virtual Training Environment Providing Force Feedback for Motoric Improvement of Upper Extremity

        Atsushi Kanbe,Yukihiro Matsubara,Noriyuki Iwane 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7

We suggest a motor rehabilitation support system for upper extremity with force feedback. A client throws a ball underhanded using a force feedback device, and then the client can receive rehabilitation for an arm’s motion sensing feel of weight. Throwing motion is difficult, so we built training environment that the client can select challenge level that is suitable to his/her ability. Furthermore, the system can indicate movement of arm. We evaluated basic functions of our system. Participants of experiments could throw well by watching an indicator of moving the upper extremity and receiving force feedback.

Long-Term Efficacy of Rehabilitation Following Arthroscopic Synovectomy in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Treated With Biologic Agents

Katsuaki Kanbe,Chiaki Sekine 대한재활의학회 2017 Annals of Rehabilitation Medicine Vol.41 No.6

Objective To investigate the long-term efficacy of rehabilitation following arthroscopic synovectomy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated with biologic agents. Methods Arthroscopic synovectomy was performed in 29 joints of 17 patients, which were divided into two groups. Group 1 included arthroscopic synovectomy plus rehabilitation for 19 joints in 10 patients, and group 2 included arthroscopic synovectomy without rehabilitation for 10 joints in 7 patients. The Disease Activity Score C-reactive protein (DAS28-CRP), Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index (HAQ-DI), and Functional Independence Measure (FIM) values (motor subscale) at 9.7 years after arthroscopic synovectomy were evaluated to identify the clinical factors related to outcomes. Results The increase in FIM score was significant in group 1 (p=0.05). HAQ-DI at 9 years was significantly decreased in group 1 (p=0.02). Therefore, arthroscopic synovectomy with rehabilitation was significant in improving FIM and HAQ-DI scores over a long period. Multiple regression analysis of FIM scores at 9 years indicated that rehabilitation (p=0.03) and disease duration (p=0.02) were significantly related to outcomes. FIM score at 9 years was significantly negatively correlated with disease duration (p=0.01, r=-0.58, Y=88.89-0.21X).Conclusion Rehabilitation following arthroscopic synovectomy was effective in achieving high FIM scores over time in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

      • Evaluation Method of Steering Feeling Based on Emotion Model

        ( Hiroaki Miyatake ),( Atsushi Kanbe ),( Keisuke Suzuki ) 한국감성과학회 2019 한국감성과학회 국제학술대회(ICES) Vol.2019 No.-

In this study, the evaluation method of steering feeling based on an emotion model is proposed. Three types of steering wheel angletorque characteristics were prepared, and the experiment was conducted using the driving simulator. ECG and EEG were measured during the experiment and the corresponding relationship between physiological indices and Kansei evaluation values was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. As a result, the possibility was shown that the driver's emotion could be estimated by classifying the participants. Next, we hypothesized that it would be possible to encourage the driver to express various emotions and to estimate emotions not only in the uncomfortable direction but also in the comfortable direction by adding the dynamic motion of the vehicle in relation to the driver's steering input. Therefore, in order to investigate the effect of vehicle motion on emotions, the experiment with and without motion was performed. As a result, it was found that the level of discomfort decreased in the condition with motion, suggesting the possibility to evaluate the emotion in the comfortable direction by adding motion of the vehicle.

3EZ,20Ac-ingenol, a catalytic inhibitor of topoisomerases, downregulates p-Akt and induces DSBs and apoptosis of DT40 cells

        Yasuaki Fukuda,Masahiro Kanbe,Manami Watanabe,Katsuaki Dan,Keiichi Matsuzaki,Susumu Kitanaka,Shohei Miyata 대한약학회 2013 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.36 No.8

We have previously reported that many ingenolcompounds derived from Euphorbia kansui exhibit topoisomerase(topo) II inhibitory activity. Of these compounds,3EZ,20Ac-ingenol inhibited topo I activity. Camptothecin, which inhibits the religation activity of topo I withoutinterfering with the binding of topo I to DNA and inducestopo I-mediated DNA cleavage, was used as a positivecontrol. In this study, we found that 3EZ,20Ac-ingenol didnot hamper the binding of topo I to DNA in the samemanner as camptothecin but affected the inhibition ofcleavage of one DNA strand. 3EZ,20Ac-ingenol inhibitedcell proliferation by blocking cell cycle progression in theG2/M phase. To define the mechanism of inhibition ofDT40 cell proliferation, the change in Akt activity wasobserved because Akt activity is regulated in response toDNA damage. Western blot analysis revealed that3EZ,20Ac-ingenol downregulated the expression of p-Akt,and apoptosis was detected by the presence of DNA double-strand breaks and caspase 3 activation.

      • Evaluation of the alignment efficiency of nickeltitanium and copper-nickel-titanium archwires in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment over a 12-week period

        Burcu Aydın,Neslihan Ebru ?enı?ık,Ozgur Ko?kanb 대한치과교정학회 2018 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.48 No.3

Objective: The aim of this trial was to compare the alignment efficiency and intermaxillary arch dimension changes of nickel-titanium (NiTi) or copper-nickeltitanium (CuNiTi) round archwires with increasing diameters applied sequentially to the mandibular arch. Methods: The initial alignment phase of fixed orthodontic treatment with NiTi or CuNiTi round archwires was studied in a randomly allocated sample of 66 patients. The NiTi group comprised 26 women, 10 men, and the CuNiTi (27℃) group comprised 20 women, 10 men. The eligibility criteria were as follows: anterior mandibular crowding of minimum 6 mm according to Little’s Irregularity Index (LII), treatment requiring no extraction of premolars, 12 to 18 years of age, permanent dentition, skeletal and dental Class I malocclusion. The main outcome measure was the alignment of the mandibular anterior dentition; the secondary outcome measure was the change in mandibular dental arch dimensions during 12 weeks. Simple randomization (allocation ratio 1:1) was used in this single-blind study. LII and mandibular arch dimensions were measured on three-dimensional digital dental models at 2-week intervals. Results: No statistically significant difference was observed between NiTi and CuNiTi according to LII (p > 0.05). Intercanine and intermolar arch perimeters increased in the CuNiTi group (p < 0.001). Inter-first premolar width showed a statistically significant interaction in week × diameter × application (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The effects of NiTi and CuNiTi round archwires were similar in terms of their alignment efficiency. However, the intercanine and intermolar arch perimeters, and the inter-first premolar width changes differed between groups.
